Like a lot of Suzuki's it's the most honest bike in its class. Great motor for beginners who worry about the "I will outgrow it..." smaller machines come with. Great ergos. Handsome and relatively cheap now that they have been on the market for a couple years now. Good job Suzuki.

I am seeing reports of GSX-8Rs having parts breakage issues. I would hold onto that legendary SV650 tight. Darn shame too. That dash readout is awesome. I wish the new SV650's had that.

Test rode one last year and easily one of my favorite bikes I've ever ridden. More power than a mt07 and smoother and more comfortable than a street triple. I'm a Supermoto rider and i felt right at home with the 8R. Great torque and great brakes. This bike is super quiet and if i ever get one an exhaust will possible be the first mod that i would do.

There's something people usually don't understand, and it's how well a motorcycle is developed, not only under the extreme sport circumstances. One thing that Suzuki usually does, is building a motorcycle that is not oriented only in a sporty direction, but is extremely good on the roads, this bike is no excepion, when you ride on public roads, on potholes, bad roads in general, wet, cold weather, it always feels extremely good, and rides really really well. You feel confident and in control. There's a huge level of quality and for sure there were many tests to create a product like this, i guarantee this is a really well made motorcycle, they definitely put a lot of effort into it. But unfortunately, this is something that requires some attention and people generally judge the book from it's cover, it's easy to fall for the most appealing and sporty products, while the well engineered things are unseen. Before this motorcycle i had a cbr600 and a street triple 765 , superb bikes, definitely faster, definitely sportier, but the gsx8r is much better in every kind of condition i can find on the public roads.

Thanks for a great video. I testrode this bike and loved it. Its so comfy and roomy. It fits me well then i am 6’3. Its more like a sportstourer and it handles great. Well priced and great torque. Not many sporttourer in this midleclass at this pricepoint out there. Its so sad. R7 looks better but its so uncomfortable. Sad that Yamaha is stuck in their racing format. I like the look of a sportbike but want a more comfy bike on the streets. Not a great fan of naked bikes other than on retro bikes. The only downside is that strange front look of the Suzuki. Kawa makes the better looks here. But this Suzuki sounds great comparing to the Kawa 650 tractor sound.

The cheat code to have comfortable sportsbikes is first get a comfort seat (from Saddlemen or Corbin), and a tankbag high enough to rest your torso and head on.

I have a yellow one and like it a lot. It’s fun and can haul my 265lbs around just fine. Obviously I don’t ride like you guys do, so the suspension is just fine for me. I couldn’t get used to the quick shifter. I’ve always flicked the throttle to shift without the clutch anyway, so it’s really of no great benefit to me. I wear Scorpion AT950 with the visor on and I have no issues with buffeting or the visor catching, the windshield is perfect for my 5’9” height. Lots of people ditch the tail asap because it’s ugly or w/e, but I actually don’t mind it. I’m planning on mounting a rear facing GoPro or 360 on there backed up to the tail fairing, out of the wind.

I believe quick shift down is rpm based. Or perhaps bike hates the 2-1 downshift.
@togimeow21 күн бұрын
@@thinkingimpaired5663 i have an 8R and i can say it definitely downshifts better with the QS if you're engine braking, even with the 2-1 downshift. unloaded the downshift is kinda weird on most gears. kind of similar to how the upshift works the smoothest during acceleration
@jammypowder725312 күн бұрын
@@thinkingimpaired5663the 1-2 or 2-1 is horrendous, I always use clutch but 2-3 or 3-2 you don’t need clutch but it’s super finicky and picky on the downshift. Steady throttle is key and never let off at all if shifting up, still downshift isn’t recommended for the 8s/r with the quick shifter
@thinkingimpaired566312 күн бұрын
@jammypowder7253 good to know. I believe another KZbin creator was having no issue with the downshift. I can imagine that crankcase oil temp, oil type, weather, rpm, throttle position, assembled parts and tolerances all could possibly play a role.
@thinkingimpaired566323 күн бұрын
Now that you brought up how far the handlebars are. Could you mention your sleeve length of your arms to give an idea how i might reach forward on the bike. For example my sleeve length is 34 inches. I have a bad back and I worry about how far I need to reach. I've been looking forward to this quick ride review. Does the 8R have a quickshifter shift down work better at 1500 rpm and above?

A super easy test and written test, or you can take a class and don't have to take the riding test. After that you can buy any bike you want. It's really irresponsible and the number of motorcycle deaths reflects that. Either way, there are a large number of unlicenced riders here.

The quickshifter is not great out of the box but smooths out as it wears in, most owners say it's noticeably better by the 2k miles mark and much better by the 4k mark. But if it's wearing in then where is that wear material going? I'd change the oil pretty frequently for the first 6k or so. The other issue is that the bike has a weird price point in that it's dumb to upgrade it. By the time you add up the bike + exhaust + tune, you could have bought a much better bike instead. If you just want to gas and go, it's fine although a little heavy.
@MrDanjacs22 күн бұрын
It's probably the chain that is wearing in, lengthening slightly.

The tail tidy thing probably completely turned me away from this bike... the inability to do a tail tidy on the 2022+ H2 SX is on of the things I dislike about my bike... the radar built-in to the fender for blindspot monitoring has turned aftermarket manufacturers away from developing a kit for the bike.

The height of the steering vs the windshield hurts me. When I drove it it was really nice to drive but I felt like a fake wannabe sportbikerider. The windshield doesnt really do much besides trying to look sporty even when its more of a sports tourer. So I would have welcomed if they had leaned into the sports tourer segment with this. Even if there is a possibility to put a raised windshield, thats now how it was designed froms Suzuki. So its going to look weird, vs if Suzuki themselves would have designed the whole bike with the raised windshield from the start. As is, I would rather get the GSX 8S or the Honda Hornet. The Hornet definately sounds better with the stock exhaust. I dont remember which of them had the weird bump on the engine where your foot should go, maybe the suzuki. It felt like it put my foot in a weird pos.
