Love this dude. Selfless. Keeping it real and down to earth. Gotta love it when someone has the balls to just get real and keep it simple. He reminds me of Mathew McConaughey. Class act. I consider myself an experienced rider, with 20 years on different bikes with only 1 track accident. I find myself absorbing, agreeing and learning and re-learning the more of his videos I watch. I like that you do these low tech videos (one camera, no fancy editing techniques). It keeps your instruction grounded and gives the viewer a feeling that they're actually there with you. With that said, I would beg you to please arrange to have a better mic set-up. It's very difficult to hear you, even with my speakers turned all the way up. It's also frustrating to have to constantly adjust the volume as you get closer or further away from the camera. Love the vids and admire your dedication.

this is epic! thank you man for putting this together. As a beginner for me the hardest is an evaluation part when there is no radius markings... when yo approaching cross-section on green and you turning sharp right (90 degree or even 180 degree) the questions is how far forward you should go before start leaning to make it through safely... considering there are no radius markings.
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
That's totally different than this...if you're going 90...just make the turn safely and slowly.

Another thing to keep in mind and to always bring to the forefront of rider's minds, Eddie, is proper suspension setup which can drastically affect the way the bike turns in at various speeds, as you are well aware. I think more emphasis should be placed on proper setup than is currently expressed in the motorcycle community. You're really the only one that I've found that really spoke at length about it. Most stock setups are not going to be ideal for their owners, let's face it. I'm so passionate about suspension that I ordered both Total Control 2 and Race Tech's Motorcycle Suspension Bible, which I'm still waiting on but they'll be here soon enough. You may or may not have had a hand in that. =) I've also been addicted to learning about suspension. I even ordered a Slacker Digital Sag Scale so I can set mine up properly for my 5'11.5, 140lb relatively light but medium frame. My WR250R stock is a bit stiff for my weight so it's time to get that dialed in me thinks.
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Yes, after you protect the bike, if anyone wants to UPGRADE anything, I always say suspension....at a minimum, set the sag for your weight and dial in the rebound damping...those books will drastically help out!

Thanks for all your vids!
@MotoJitsu3 жыл бұрын
You'll do emergency braking practice in your course...just remember this and everything will be easier. The slower you move your hands, the slower the bike will respond. Easy rolling on and off the gas, easy squeezing the the front brake, easy releasing the clutch during the course. MotoJitsu.com for my new app, books, merch, etc.

Great video and your enthusiasm and excitement in your voice shows how much you care that riders get it right. Thanks for the training and caring. My biggest issue is the fear factor kicks in when the bike starts to lean to what I sense is too far. I understand the physics involved that the bike will not fall but I have a hard time totally trusting the bike. Ugh!!
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Try using more of your body position so the bike is leaned a little as possible...you'll have more confidence knowing the bike is more upright. More lean = more risk...so minimize it lol...the more you practice you'll start to get a feel of what may be excessive or not...but unless you're scrapping hard parts, the bike CAN lean more...but that doesn't mean you have to of course. I've only scrapped my foot-pegs and had my engine guard scrap when I was practicing to see how far I could actually lean the bike...now I know.

Duuude that exact thing happened to me. I call it my, "he's beginning to believe" moment. Was going through an underpass U turn and it just kept going and I was lucky the lane was double wide cause I started getting closer and closer to the guard rail and it was probably only 2 seconds my brain went through, "oh god what can I do?? Use the break to slow down. No, I'll just go down for sure. Lean more! Turn the handle bars! I can't do it... Cause you're staring at the guard rail. Well I can't close my eyes! Look away then...look.... Through the turn!" My head pulled up, my eyes looked past turn, the matrix music started playing, somehow I started turning more and made it out the other end.

Any tips on downshifting smoothly. That’s the one thing I have the most trouble with. No matter how much I try to do it smoothly when slowing down my engine always revs loudly. I ride alone and it’s still embarrassing. I even let the clutch out slowly and it still revs high. Tips? Or better yet a ride along video of downshifting before a turn or sharp curve
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
So do all your shifting before the corner ever starts, no in it....once you slow down enough and you downshift, there won't be much revving...you're probably downshifting way too soon.
@larrywilliams23866 жыл бұрын
Fast Eddie’s Motorcycle Fun thanks FE. I think you may be right. I didn’t think that I may still be going too fast even though I’m slowing down. Trying to wrap my head around those words. Doesn’t make sense, kinda sorta, not really, but I think I get it. Lol
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
You're approaching a corner...you start to roll off the throttle...use the brakes.....once you slow down a good amount, then down shift...you'll be less likely to have the bike really rev up.... But if you down shift first, then start to brake...the bike will probably do what you're describing.

I find myself pointing my chin towards the yellow middle divider line on left turns and pointing my chin towards the right hand white line on right turns. Hands down the most useful video for me. Thank you sir so much for making this video and doing such an amazing job in doing it. A lot of the times people understand 80-90% how to do something but its still the other 10-20% that gets missed and gets people into trouble. I feel you add that 10-20% in such a way as to give people the 100% big picture. I know for myself you have given me lots to think about and to practice. This may sound a little weird but every time I take out my 650F I go to a less crowded area to practice cornering on quiet roads. Every time I take a corner I have you in my head and I literally say, BODY-HEAD-BIKE and I feel I am getting better at the cornering. I have literally looked everywhere and I can not find a single empty parking lot to practice. Either the parking lots get closed with security guarding the entrance or they have cement barriers as back up markers for people so there is no free space to practice. So I just slowly push myself beyond my last point and not over the limit. Thanks again for the video man, keep up the good work.

Get a lot out of your videos , glad they popped up on my scroll . I saved some small cones and pucks from a storage locker I bought for the sole purpose of doing this type of practice . Need to add chalk to my practice equipment . What you're doing is saving a life here and there hopefully more than just a few . Pay attention folks , not many second chances on road !

"Nothing more you can do, just push left" - Honestly great advice. Being a more rookie rider atm you end up hitting the ground panic braking and shit, more than likely you're not using your bikes full traction (or if you're like Eddie and choose not to), there's always room for some more lean. I kind of found myself in this position once the past few days, the mind wanted to jam on the brakes but just gave it a little more oomph in the steering department. Also in regards to regaining confidence (nice video, I feel special, great convo in the comments), honestly the best advice is "shut up and practice."

You are doing a great work with the videos... I'm a very very beginner, just rides a few classes at driving school and your videos are very well explained and helped me to understand and also to ask questions to my instructor... Great job and thank you for your work and dedication... You could do something else instead of filming and editing these videos during your own time... Be sure that your work is appreciated (more than a like...) together your mindset and dedication to prepare these videos. Thank you, you are a great Man. There's nothing more beautiful then sharing with others the knowledge and your experience to help others to became smarter and to grow... Thank you!

So glad you are doing these videos, I have seen so many ride, who have NO CLUE on cornering, speeding through and not even sitting on the bike the right way, I am just holding my breath waiting to see if they slide out the darn bike...but it will happen! Hope they watch this!! If you watch race car drivers, they do the same thing, they hug the far side away from the turn so they go straight when AT the turn...thus no problem with the entry and exit of turns. I think they call it straightening the curve...:) For those new at this, check out a few videos showing a driver in the seat of a race car doing this at over 100 miles per hour...you have to get that curve to be less of a curve as much as possible. Anyway, great job buddy! Pay attention to his BODY POSITION here too!! I keep seeing so many who do NOT pay attention to how they sit on the bike....!! YIKES>...Keep it up, love what you are doing!! Cheers!

Awesome!! Great course!! I keep my tire pressure at 38/42 all the time unless I'm at the track. I know the limits and what I can and cannot do with my tires I have to be able to do this...newer riders, maybe drop 2 lbs if practicing...plus ensure the parking lot has great grip of course.

As usual, a very professional and informative video. On my road over the lake many of the drivers are not aware of where the centerline should be in relation to their car. I have learned technique #2 for survival. On one blind corner I have to hug the rail at the beginning until I can see if anyone is in my lane coming toward me. You set a safety example on KZbin.

Question FastEddie - throttle (A) and brake (B) while in a corner: (A) We are consistently keeping power to the back wheel yes? No cruising through any corners? (B) what about this "trail braking" where we apply the front brake before the corner, keep it steady throughout he corner (just in case of any mishaps) and let go once we see the straightaway?
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
You're fully off the gas as you enter a turn but want to get back onto the gas as soon as you can...just a tiny bit until you can see the exit...I have many videos on trail braking...too much to type here :)
@charlievelez35105 жыл бұрын
@@MotoJitsu of course! I really appreciate you always answering whenever you have the time. I'm watching as much as I can right now before I practice later on tonight (parking lot). Really quick , getting off the gas IS pressing in the clutch right? Other wise one would engine brake and that's a "no no"?
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
No, rolling off the gas is just rolling off the gas (engine braking), never pull in the clutch when going at faster speeds unless you're shifting. As you're rolling off (engine braking) you start to apply the brakes before a corner.

This stuff is so helpful. Many people crash on freeway ramps going up or downhill. Where do you want be when you have to make a complete circle before coming out of the turn? In the middle of the lane until you come out of the turn at the bottom?
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
When you have to make a complete circle? What do you mean?
@63CommonSense5 жыл бұрын
I wish I could draw circles like you do but since I can't do that here let me say it like this. Let's say you are driving West on a freeway overpass and the freeway on-ramp is on your right hand side. As you get on the ramp you make what is a downhill right where when you get to the bottom of the ramp you are now going in the Southbound direction. That's what I mean by a complete circle. I hope that's better.
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
If it's an offramp or onramp, I'm not going through it fast...where I am in the lane depends on if there's words or arrows and other issues, which effect grip...if the road is clean, I would probably just stay in the middle the whole way :)
@robertsegrest50714 жыл бұрын
Really helpful. Thank you. Should I even be trying to do trail braking as a newer rider? It seems like you slow down and enter the turn and the throttle stays steady and then as you reach the apex and you see your exit you start to accelerate? Why is trail braking necessary? When is it best used? Should I even be thinking about trail braking at this stage?
