Great tips, as a new rider and living in Perth Western Australia, with the average temp being 25c.. keeping neck roll wet with cold water great idea. I'm glad to say for here the wet weather gear is in the 20%..keep safe UK and ride hard.

There are some one of the best motor-tips I stumbled upon in years. Some of them - like pre-heating the gloves - i casually do but never really dig in to thinking about this so much Good job mate. Thank you very much :)

I found both Chris's and Sean's video's really good and entertaining. Picked up a couple of things new to me in both video's so, thanks for that both of you. One I found myself - if you have wet hands AND wet gloves after stopping for fuel, put on some plastic gloves from the dispenser. Wet gloves will now fly on. More please!

I am a big fan of marino, during the winter I'm covered head to toe, beany, buff, undershirt, long johns, and socks. It also keeps you cool if the day warms up.

Perfect advice for commuters Sean, thank you for that. I am a commuter, all weather -all year except ice and heavy snow- find it all practical. Chris, thank you for the excellent introduction to Sean's video.

What great tips, well done Sean. I particularly liked your advice on buying gear for 80% of your riding. I'm a fair weather rider these days and I'm always thinking I need to buy gear that will protect me against all kinds of weather, where after seeing this video maybe I should be looking at gear that is more comfortable to wear rather than needing to be super waterproof. Like you said I can always trow a waterproof skin over me if the weather turns wet

Great tips. A couple of tips I’d like to know: How to keep you face shield clear when it’s raining heavily? How to protect your expensive leather gloves dry in the rain?

Nice one Sean. Brilliant advice, and I can back that up factually by the help you gave me and my lad Matt when we came in in early September - which was legendary - especially with my Neotec lid and Stadler suit. As you know, the lid (Shuberth) had been a massive problem on my swede, and I cannot express enough how much your advice is appreciated . Ignore Chris - you never want to be the chap in the cap - it rubs all your hair off - look at Chris (errrrr - and me too). Superb vid guys. I expect nothing less now though I have to say. Awesome guys

Good tips! About that peak thing. A decently big peak can actually be useful as a shade on a sunny day, no matter the kind of bike, provided you don't ride on very fast roads, of course. We spectacle wearers are handicapped as we can't use sunglasses, and if you happen to fit well into Arai helmets, for example, you are out of luck with internal sun visors. On most helmets the peaks are removable. Funny thing is I find that whenever I leave without the peak, I kinda regret it every time the sun appears into my view from the top (where that sneaky fellow usually does show up, being the sun ;).
@aunoates66174 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking! Even with sunglasses, or inner sun visor , you still need to shade your eyes. After years of riding one handed or taping bits of cornflake boxes across my visor I now have a proper peak and would never go back!

Outside of the UK we really need different gear for summer and winter extremes, I ride in 3-38 degrees. I go with a mesh jacket in high summer, leathers mid - season and textiles for winter.

I wish this advice (and kit) had been around when I started out riding. Particularly like the idea of a wet neck tube as "sweat 2.0". BTW, another benefit of synthetic underwear is that, when touring, it can go in the shower with you at the end of the day and be clean and dry the next morning. I only take 2 sets with me when I tour.

Hi Shaun, Do you or anyone else have a solution for the situation where you have to remove your gloves; say at a petrol station, your hands end up wet due to inclement weather conditions, it's hissing it down, you have to put your gloves back on over soaking hands? Good tips 👍🏻
@davidreed68173 жыл бұрын
use the provided paper towels to dry your hands then use the plastic forecourt gloves, I've worn them under summer gloves when the temperature has dropped

I bought a pair of TCX hero boots 9 months ago, and after commuting in them to and from work they are starting to show some signs of wear and are a little dirty. Can you please advise how you guys clean, condition, and polish leather motorbike boots and do you have any recommended products for the job? By the way great video, informative as always - keep it up!
@georgesneedlesshobbies4 жыл бұрын
Either brush off all the physical dirt when dry, or use a damp rag to remove it. Wait for the boot to dry if you have made it wet. Use a leather conditioner to keep the leather oily and hydrated - dry leather will crack over time. You wont need to condition the boot too often, just as the leather starts to dry. Some conditioners will darken the colour of your leather, so do a bit of research on brands if that worries you. You can then use a wax based polish (traditional cheap stuff like Kiwi for example) to add a layer of wax over the leather to again help repel water. Or if the leather is not too dry to begin with, you could use some Ledergris polish which is very oily, rather than a bespoke conditioner. It also has some wax in it and is good at weatherproofing. Other people may disagree or recommend other brands, there is so much choice out there. You may find a good old cheap pot of Dubbin for £2.99 works best for you!

Peaks….. keep the sun off my nose when the sun is high. Help keep the sun out of my eyes when the sun is low in the sky. A well designed peak such as on my Nolan N40, stops the helmet from lifting at the speeds I travel. Merino base layer is warm in winter, and breathable, thus comfortable when it is hot. Synthetics stink.
