I owned 27553 for quite a few years. Clutch is great, the trick is the using the engine torque and basically rollout of a stop. The AC, well you are correct useless, but never open the windows and drive on a hot day. The hot air from the radiators will waft right into the interior. Drive it in the evening with the windows down. A well engineered idea that leaves you smelling like exhaust fumes after a drive. Part of the fun is waking the beast up when it has been parked for a while. I

The real appellation given to that car was BERLINETTA BOXER but for real, the designer (Leonardo Fioravanti) and the engeneers who developped that car, because of the sexyness of it's line were calling it BB for BRIGITTE BARDOT. It's not a joke. OH YEAH... By the way, RATAROSSA is restoring a withe BBi with blue interior in the UK and e would like to know where he could find the fabric to restore the headliner.

I would take any Ferrari until end of 1980's over anything that they came out ever since, including the maligned 348 and including the so called ugly mondial and the 308gt4 described in such a way thatit set the dogs barking and terrifies the neighbours who who kept closed their curtains and never opened them again ever since a garage in the neighbourhood got possessed by one and hold a cross which they show it if inspite of all effort to avoid it they still happen to have it drive past them. Which car, by the way, is now fetching 6 figures in hard money for special examples and half that for the average car, the same odiously stylrd although always afnitted to havd better handling than a GTB. perhaps because Ferrari , ibsoure od tpemainjbf Ferrari, has list Noevthe dogs wag their tail and the curtains open in hopecmotcto miss it in case it happens drive past by with many a neighbour staying outside awaiting any mo.ent it drives past and wave at it, and informed sources tell us that the garage is no longer possessed but has had its rating revised and is declares by UNESCO as World Herirage and one of tbe 7 Wonders if the World after denoting the Hanging Gardens of Babylon , now Public Gardens. Bellissimo. I reckon the silver screen have something to do with the BB being somewhat forgotten. Both its predecessor & successor, the "Daytona" & the Testarossa had the spot light in Miami Vice, while its compadre, the 308 was on Magnum PI, leaving the BB out of sight out of mind. Not being officially released in the US didn't help either. Man, I can't believe its been 10 years since you got the 275 on the show. Excellent work, M. I like how you matched the shirt to the car.

Leaving a Ferrari meet in Victoria Australia driving home with my dad in his Giulia Super a Green Boxer rolls up next to us and im clearly wide eyed and taken away by what looks like a Lemans race car driver pulls us over puts me on his lap and we drive for 5 or 10 minutes 40 years ago and it still remains with me. I have been fortunate enough to be in a couple of others a 250 TDF, a 275 and I have driven a 308GT4 (my dads) a number of times. But the Boxer was my first. Forza Ferrari.

I believe much of the reason for the detuned performance has to do with different camshafts; which were made to prevent reversion exhaust air backwards into the CIS intake (no overlap). I _think_ there are camshafts that can be used that bring back that performance without reversion, but it's an uncommon modification.
@timgosling61894 жыл бұрын
Minor point, but although the flat engine would have lowered the CofG, they had to put the gearbox underneath to package it in the car. Hence the CofG was actually a lot higher than ideal. It's not like in the '70s F1 cars where the flat 12 sat just inches off the tarmac. If you do corner a Boxer hard you'll find quite a lot of roll and some roll oversteer. They didn't really cure it until the 512M in the '90s. So treat it as a GT rather than a sportscar and you'll have a better driving experience. The aircon, as with many 70s and 80s cars, is actually an american system, just badged Borletti, and with Marelli electrics. It can be set up to work very efficiently and I once had the cockpit down to 40F. It does gas out pretty quickly though, even if regularly used, and will need a re-charge about every 9 months.

On most tracks but Golfs are still slower 0-200 20 seconds vs 17.5-19 for the BB. GTO could do it in 15.5. Doug De Muro said it is modern fast. It would definitely beat a Civic type R to 60 as front wheel drive is terrible for 0-60.

it isn't a Boxer! BB: Berlinetta Bialbero! BB acronym According to engineer Mauro Forghieri, the designation "BB" did not originally mean "Berlinetta Boxer." He stated during an interview with Davide Cironi that they knew the car was not equipped with a Boxerengine. He explained the meaning of the acronym (Berlinetta Boxer) was fabricated by journalists, in reality it means Berlinetta Bialbero (dual camshaft).[15] An alternative origin story of this name was put forward by Leonardo Fioravanti. He claimed that the "BB" designation was derived from a nickname given to the car by designer Fioravanti, Angelo Bellei and Sergio Scaglietti. During development of the 365 GT/4 BB, they began to refer to the car as "Brigitte Bardot", as they perceived the prototype to be exceptionally beautiful like the French actress. This nickname was shortened to "BB" and quickly adopted by other Ferrari factory workers. "Berlinetta Boxer" was later invented by Ferrari officials prior to the model's introduction at the 1971 Turin Auto Show, as it was considered unprecedented to name a Ferrari after a woman.[16][17]
