As promised, we start looking at how to use the accessories I shared with you last time to perform a variety of diagnostic techniques. In this episode, I use the uScope to perform a relative compression test using the high amp current clamp. I also introduce the idea of using a trigger to capture your pattern.

You do a great job on the videos, just enough detail to be thorough. But not to the point of losing the audience. .. Excellent work !

Very nice demonstration Pete of showing relative compression. These videos of "How To' will be very successful and will help a lot of new techs and DIYers who want to learn more about scopes, etc. Keep up the good work :)

nice I get a uscope. I can usually determine low dead cylinder by ear when crank and run as well as rpm drop by pulling plug or injector wire off each cylinder while running. Shalom

I agree with Pirsch Fire Wagon. I enjoy your videos very much and also would like to see more on the uScope. I own one and have been struggling with it a little. For example, I am unable to set my V / Div at 50mv like you have done. The lowest I can go is 0.1A (why does mine show Amp instead of V ??) Thank you for the great videos!

I'm thinking you may need to go check your presets. I did a video with Jorge Menchu some time ago on the scope. You can watch that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4fGnYCuirx9aJI He is also working on some new improvements and when he's done, he's promised to come back on and do an updated video on the tool. Be sure to sub to the channel so you won't miss it!

@MotorAgeMagazine

The uScope is a very capable single channel scope. It boots fast and would allow you to grab a quick capture whenever you want. I also encourage techs to fire up whatever scope they own every morning as part of their before work routine so it's ready to go when you need it.

when you're adjusting the values, what exactly do you mean when you say "per division"? Is 50 m/sec or 200 m/sec the entire screen? Or is the division each grid on the screen? Thanks for the video.

There is an adaptor that allows you to connect the BNC lead to the UScope. There is also one available for amp clamps that use banana jacks. Visit the AES site for info.

well done Pete! I am retired now and I sold my pico scope and was looking at the Uscope small kit Do you think it is worth the $ asked for it???
@IsshmanGarcia
@IsshmanGarcia 7 жыл бұрын
Joseph Tucci it's $154 now, I got mine a few years ago @$120..it's well worth it my friend. It's amazing to me! along with this channel, search scanner danner uScope. you can piece together the master kit yourself like I did. search for Astro Camper video about putting together a master kit. Astro doesn't really like uscope, but it's well worth it's price. It can do just as much as the big brand scopes (snap on) can do with minimal exceptions and it's just a 1 channel, but so what .

Personal opinion? It's great for quick checks but for full out diagnostics I'm from the "more channels I got, the better" school of thought. As with anything else, what do you want the tool to do for you?

N N I've had my uScope for over a year and a half and have NEVER had issues with charging! The problem is people don't read manuals. the uScope has a sufficient manual. Believe me, it's worth it. Excellent pictures, screen shots you can bring to your computer to print for your files. you can make presets, it comes with a lot of presets already or you can just select labscope-so you can set things up yourself. I was new to using scopes when I purchased the uScope, but now I'm like a pro with that thing. I've scoped EVERY sensor, injectors, coils, plug wires..on my car as practice- now I make $ using it on other peoples vehicles. Invest in yourself my friend-Invest! PS... and as far as it being a 1 channel scope- you could do what I do: get one of the waveforms you want to compare on the scope (cam), then save it as a reference waveform. Then call that waveform back up and then scope the other waveform live you want to compare the first one to (crank). So now you have 1 live waveform on the screen and 1 reference waveform on the screen at the same time-- Just make sure the settings (scales) are similar and all will correspond correctly. COMPARE ON PEOPLE! as of 2/17/2017--I was told by an AESwave employee that they are in the "process of finalizing the update that follows 6.01, but it wont be released to the public for awhile". I pressed for feature details but they didn't bite.

I don't use mine much and was pleasantly surprised that it still had a charge on it when I pulled it out for this video. The guys at AESWave tell me there is an update coming soon but not sure of what the update covers. We'll be doing an "In The Workshop" segment when it's ready and go over it all for you right here!

Just thought...if you try your low amp clamp, make sure that you use the cable that is connected to the starter (positive side) or the heavy cable on the ground side. And make sure the jaw can close all the way. But don't sweat if that doesn't work. I'll show you in the next video another way to do the same test!

I have a low amp clamp with my uscope will it work
@MotorAgeMagazine
@MotorAgeMagazine 7 жыл бұрын
Chris, the low amp clamp won't work if you use the DC function on the scope but may if you select the AC mode only. This eliminates the DC element. There are some other ways to use the AC coupling feature to perform this test, too. Stay tuned!
