Motor Cleaning & Servicing | Foil Drive Care & Maintenance

In this quick video, Paul and Ben run you through the basic features of the Foil Drive motor and our recommendation of the simple cleaning and servicing required to maintain your gear moving forward for 2023.
For existing customers prior to 2023, you will need to remove the circlip from the shaft to be able to separate the rotor from the motor. Those commercial, blue paper towel rolls would be an idea if this is an every other day task I'm thinking. Would save having to keep and clean so many rags/towels. Obviously you don't want little bits of paper towel left inside before spaying, so a good look over after, or perhaps just a few quick puffs from a small air compressor or even a small battery powered leaf blower after would be a way to go!

Hello guys, I love the foil drive it's so much fun thanks. I have been a bit lazy with the cleaning 🙄 Can I recoat the drum myself with epoxy resin ? rather than buy a new one ? Just wondering if you can recommend a product to use I live in the UK. Thanks again what a brilliant product 👍

The lanolin isn’t available in the US. Any alternative recommendations? WD 40 makes a corrosion inhibitor & white lithium grease.

I wish you told us this before my motor got stuck while sitting in a cabinet for 2-3 month.. Is there any instructions on how to make it separate once it rusted in place?

How long should a foildrive normally last if maintained propperly? Not to pin point but to heave an idea😊

we have Foil Drives that get used heavily and are more than 3 years old. Batteries are consumables and depending on use and ow they are stored, will vary in their useful lifespan and it's also worth noting that parts like the rotor may need maintenance however this is why these parts are accessible. A little like owning a boat or a Jetski, there will always be some parts that require servicing.

Hey everyone! We've had some questions about an equivalent to WD40 lanolin that we have here in Australia that isnt available globally. Be very careful when putting the motor can back on. The magnets are very strong and can damage the bearings if allowed to snap back. Hold tight my friends.
