Ron is my brother in-law. I've known him for over 47 years and can attest he is hard working, wicked smart (mechanically and financially) and very meticulous in all that his does. He is curious by nature and not afraid of challenges; he doesn't settle for things for what they are, rather for what they could be. I'm not at all surprised he was the first to successfully install a Telsa motor into a RZR. Given he is also quite the character, he would be a great content partner with Dave Sparks.

Love this build! So glad to see Sparks take on their first EV build. I'm leery about using the stock controller though. They can be finickity if you don't have everything perfect. An aftermarket controller has a lot less parameters to be met. Just get ready to destroy everything downstream of the rotor! It's so much fun. And remember that the grandaddy of torque is the hairpin DC motor.

I know you’re built is probably a long way in from this video release But here’s a idea for your battery box Take and make the rails you bolt the battery to And make it do double duty On the big end run those mounts full length of that section of the box and weld them in solid This will keep the bottom of your battery box flat When you slide your belly over the rocks

@@TheNilla2020 Realistically as far as offroading goes, EV has really good perks. Torque, descent control/braking, and quitness. You get way more torque and low speed control with EV for climbing and rocky sections. You get better control on descents from regenerative braking. And it's important to be aware of your surroundings on busy trails so being quiet is nice as well. You also get a nice CG from the weight down low and evenly distributed... As far as range, sure, that's the tradeoff, for now. But for a fun recreational vehicle it's plenty good nuff for an evening of fun. If you plan on longer stay I duno, bring a generator I guess. EV's are still in their infancy, it won't take too long before they are the norm for pretty much everything. Whether it comes from battery improvements or some other energy breakthrough, I duno. Personally, I believe batteries are just a temporary stepping stone and stop gap until on demand fuel cell generation tech takes over. One thing is clear though... combustible engines will be antiques in the next generation or two. Electric motors will replace almost everything.

This is a really sweet build. I’m not a fan of electric cars. The acceleration is crazy. But the sound of a combustion engine is 😍. But this is cool in its own way and seeing it being built is very interesting.
