Very good video, any one else having a hard time removing those headers, all day im lifting up and trying to pull it out but no luck
@motorcarnut2 ай бұрын
What you have to do is remove the 2 bracket bolts on the bottom of turbo then from the top lift it straight up on both sides then with a pry bar push out on a 45 degree angle

What to do? Did you use to remove the coolant line from the Turbo? Was it 1830 also?

I don't understand the question?

Great video! I just got a code P0299 for first time, yellow engine light; dealer tells me I can monitor/ drive car but if it comes back red time for a turbocharger repair, or waste-gate check or pressure sensor. NoteI I fixed oil consumption problem by changing the PCV diaphragm ( Amazon) and then doing an EPR - Engine Performance Restore engine flush. Problem solved. You need to change your oil regularly on these TFI engines especially cold climate (Northern US and Canada). Every 3500 miles or 5000 kms. These PCV diaphragms don’t age well.

The 5 mm Allen key on the shield is stripped any idea what I can do ?
@motorcarnut2 ай бұрын
@marvinnino5971 you’ll have to cut it off and get a new one. It happened to me once.

Great video! With what turbo do you replace the old one? Since the original ones go bad after 60k
@motorcarnutАй бұрын
Thank you! Those turbos last way more then 60K miles, people just don't maintain the oil with they rely on for longevity. You can buy a remanufactured one or just the cartridge. I have videos on replacing the cartridge on BMW which is similar.

@@motorcarnut Ah! Im having a hard time finding the original turbo. I think its a borgwarner. Do you know more? Its a 2.0 tsi 4motion tiguan.

You can just put in you year and model in any site like eBay or VW website depending on how much you want to spend.

Do I need to get new turbo oil lines, or can I use the old ones? Thanks.
@motorcarnut2 ай бұрын
No you can reuse them as long as they are not damaged.

13:40 i removed that lower bracket to get the turbo out 😅
@motorcarnutАй бұрын
That's a big waste of time for no reason. Its designed that it slips up and out when removing only the top nuts.
@tonymazias33254 ай бұрын
I'm having a hard time with 3 manifold nuts\bottom. Where was that part?
@motorcarnut4 ай бұрын
You don’t take the bottom nuts and brackets off the manifold just the top nuts and it slips up and out
@tonymazias33254 ай бұрын
@@motorcarnut I'm definatly missing something then. Cause this thing is solid. No movement at all.
@motorcarnut4 ай бұрын
@tonymazias3325 there’s 2 bolts on the bracket on the engine block that need to be removed and the bracket bent up a little to give some movement to make the manifold assembly slip up and tilt out a little bit then it will side off. Very tight tolerance but will come off
