Hello, I have a 2007 Sebring. The spring was missing. I bought a new one, drilled a hole and reattached the spring. It didn’t seem to have enough recoil to active the pink lever. I unattached the cable that is being pulled by the pink lever and now everything works fine with the cable unattached. Is there anything wrong with the cable not being hooked up? Not sure what the purpose of the cable is.

Hokee Doodle! Thought I would try this when my son's car was locked in park. Removing the console was fairly straightforward as was the exact fix you describe. Drilled a hole & inserted/clipped a cotter pin. Worked like a charm! Thanks very much for posting this - need to ask my son how "Support" works. Oh - but getting to the battery - wow what a hassle. I have not seen that before! Between the bumper and front left tire!! Again, thanks. Mark

Awesome. Glad it worked. Yeah there have been a few vehicles where the battery have been put by the tire. It can be aggravating as well. I can put the car in any gear but it won't show park or neutral trunk won't even pop so my guess is shift sensor?????

Hi, can this happen while in reverse? My sebring wont come out of reverse and it wont start now!?

Not the same issue. Its possible that your shifter cable bushing is worn out on one end of the cable and it might not be connected to the trans any more causing this issue.

Mine just done the same thing so its just reversing did you find out the problem just happen

My shifter moves to reverse, drive, etc. But the transmission indicator on dash shows that it is not actually shifting. Is this the same issue?

Sounds like you have a bushing failure at the one of the ends of the shifter cable. Its more common at the trans side of the cable. Thats where I would start looking. Thanks for watching Joe and make sure to subscribe.

You need to remove the center console and then the shifter assembly to do the repair. I currently don't have and videos on the console removal

There is no repair on the other pink part other then replacing the assembly. Exactly what issues are you having?
