Thanks for the informative video Pranav bro. But I need to correct something, the hole you kept pointing in this video, is actually the overflow drain hole. Actual breather pipe hole is on the right side. That hole also gets shut when fuel cap is closed. There would be a pinhole and rubber washers around it to limit the air flow. Rest is taken care by the tank vent valve electronically. Hope this is helpful, cheers 🤘 :)

if the fuel cap is locked then it seals on the top of the fuel tank throat this is independant of the hole your are talking about. This is an overflow for excess fuel when fueling up or a drain if rain water enter around your fuel cap.

It would be good for you to remove the cap from the bike and disassemble it, inside you will find a one way pin, a diaphram, o-ring, and release vent spring, you should remove and clean with soap and water, you will find dirt inside when your tank is breathing. If you do not disassemble and clean your bike may shut off for lack of vent👍

That hole is NOT a breather hole, but for spilage. The breather line is at the back of the tank

I still do not get it. When you close the cap, the rubber seal sits on the inner tank blocking the tank from the breather vent.

Hy bro i have duke 390(2023) from last month whenever I open my fuel tank some air is coming out , what’s the problem the vent hole is blocked or something else ??
@PranavBhayani2 ай бұрын
Some hissing sound (air transfer) is quite normal. It is to balance the pressure in atmosphere and within tank. However, do check the clearance of breather pipe and pipe to EVAP (charcoal canister to absorb fumes). Also this sound changes due to temperature differences, it's normal.

I'm sure the breather hole would be in all vehicles fuel tank (to avoid vaccum in tank, & allow free flow it fuel). However EVAP is relatively newer concept since few years, mostly to regulate pollution and comply to emissions norms. BTW, good to know of '87 steed. 👍

Quick question.... If your Brether is droping to the flour then your Charcoal canister is doing nothing there? lol xD
@PranavBhayani Жыл бұрын
Designs & implementation vary in different motorcycles. The water from drain hole will not go to EVAP to avoid clogging. The breather hole will take the fuel vapours to EVAP canister and air to the tank. While you could see only one hole at top area of fuel lid, internally the lines would be seperated typically using a solenoid valve, to get the fuel / vapour / air / water across different areas, avoid mixing water n fuel. In general fuel vapours do goes to EVAP canister (if deployed), and water drains out on thr ground directly. 👍
@santoshmh123 Жыл бұрын
Mere bhai wo water ya fuel overflow hole hai 😂 So that access fuel or rain water doesn’t get into the fuel tank🤦🏻♂️
@PranavBhayani Жыл бұрын
As I explained, especially in bigger bikes there is EVAP canister to control strict emission norms. Fuel should not overflow on ground, cases pollution. So the overflow water or fuel is seperated down and only fuel (and fuel vapours) are passed to EVAP canister, and further to intake manifold during ignition period. Else normally valve is closed to hold fuel at canister level. However on small bikes, there is no EVAP system, so that top hole works for overflow of water (rain / washing water) and fuel overfull, both elements directly dropping on ground (in turn causing ground pollution, but that's neglected !!). Typical commuter bikes don't have EVAP, but superbikes do have lot mechanism. Even though you see a single hole on lid side, underneath it's seperately channelized.

Bro good effort, you are talking repetitive words so much, that's annoying. And what you just showed at the last its not breather hole, its just drain+overflow hole for water and fuel. Breather is within your fuel cap or by your evap canisters, not the hole you said. Please check back your information. And make your video shorter, no need to explain so much of chemistry and physics. Good wishes
