The thing i do not understand is the behaviour of most sport bike riders... I'm riding kind of a sport-tourer bike and planning to stay on that path in the future, but 80% of people i meet are "racers wanna be" and are speeding acrocss the corners, like lunatics, and most are just desperately trying to get their knees down all the time. Mostly young people (18-25) and I'm 19 but it seems to me really stupid as they all talk how much they enjoy it and they can't imagine riding normally (for me normally would mean not exceeding the speedlimit for more than 10mph and maybe pushing it up a bit on a straight line where you can partialy predict your safety. ) And as soon as someone sees you with bits of unused rubber on the outer most parts of your tire, they call you a pussy. It just sounds to me so childish and idiotic. The same thing is in our national FB community of motorcycle riders called "Motoristi", everyone is just bragging about cornering and knee dragging, racing on the roads. And as soon as one says that this is stupid and without a point you are marked as a cissy, that's why nobody rides normal anymore as they become an outcast right away. Tried to have some nice group rides this summer, no shit man it's nothing like you see on YT and on others motovloggers videos. They are all racing and i can't keep up for shit.. Also being the new rider, have only done 2000miles this year and everyone is just flying into the corners and just can't find a single one to be riding normally, sometimes a bit over speed limit but nothing serious... Feel free to dislike this...

Attention: When you ride on the left track of a lane, close to the double yellow line, you can subject yourself to two dangers: 1. In this day and age many car drivers like to text and drive, which can cause their car to sway over the double yellow line unexpectedly which can either hit or clip a motorcycle rider straddling the double yellow line. The closer you are to oncoming traffic the less time you have to react if a car unexpectedly crosses the double yellow line. Here is an example of what can happen to you when you ride on the left track of a lane: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3qxmGqorrNjq7s 2. You open up space in your lane to the right of you which can allow a car to ILLEGALLY PASS YOU ON THE RIGHT SIDE, this is the most dangerous pass to a motorcycle rider because a motorcycle rider will not expect a car to pass from the right side. How do I know this you ask? Because it happened to me and by the grace of God I narrowly missed getting swiped by the suv. Here is the video of me almost getting swiped b/c of an illegal pass by a SUV. Car almost swipes Motorcycle

Good advice about not riding the rear brake! However, we were taught to ride in the left tire track near the yellow line. Also, when I tried riding for the first time last week, I'd also get all excited at 'higher speeds' and switch gears w/o pulling the clutch in. Nothing much seemed to happen tho.

You have a point! I did not intend to go into detail, just common sense. I think most riders will not stay in the right center lane position if a road obstacle is in their way or their line of sight is affected, of course you will move out the way, that's common sense. I just see some riders that hug the yellow line for some reason and it's downright dangerous.

That is bad information telling people to stay on the right side of the lane. Its proven that its safer on the left. Other vehicles will see you much easier on the left hand side, and it leaves you more room to maneuver in your lane should you need to. Just because its what you do does not make it the best way. There is no one place in the lane that is best, conditions are always changing, and lane position must be changed accordingly. Not harping man, just don't want to spread misinformation. I love your channel and you do a great job. Keep it up!

It depends on the situation like you said, really the cleanest part of the road is next to the double yellow line, which I do use when hitting the twisties where there is no traffic at all or not a car within sight. I had a rider thank me a few months ago, my advice of riding 'just right of center' (not far right side), saved his life. The guy said an oncoming car swerved into his lane within a split second narrowly missing him, he said had he been straddling the double yellow he would have been toast b/c he would have had no time to react. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT, when you ride on the left track YOU OPEN UP THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR LANE, inviting a car to ILLEGALLY pass you in the right side which is most dangerous to a motorcycle rider. How do I know you ask? It happened to me but I got lucky and the car narrowly slid by me illegally on the right side. Here is the video: Car almost swipes Motorcycle

Well... maybe... I skipped most of the stuff about checking the cycle.. Most of that goes without saying... I agree with riding to the right of the centerline.. As lots of nasty stuff in the center of the lane because of oil droppings. What this guy glossed over was the road surface, he was riding over a rutted and broken road... It happens a lot on the right next to the road and that is where most of the big potholes are.. smaller cycles can be destabilized ... I think of riding after near 50 years experience as a highly dangerous and joyful experience for people who know what they are doing...(That takes years of time to get good.) While learning its far more dangerous.... Ride as if your in a moving bubble... You can't hit another vehicle if you are not close to it... Watch entering traffic... Watch your stopping distance. There is some woman or spavined guy out there who is drunk or unconscious and will not see you...I have mounted an American Flag on the back of my cycle... I have no confidence in yellow or orange safety vest... They will still mow you down.. A waving flag is both patriotic and more eye catching. Get a cycle that is just a big smaller and slower than you really need.. I like Cruisers... Big huge cycles kill people because they are harder to control...A few years back a guy ran off a cliff at Mount Rainer and died... He could not control the cycle... Going down a bad road will kill you quicker than running up hill... Uphill you have tires grabbing the road, downhill you are skidding and breaking and use the gearing to slow the cycle... The best fighter pilot ever was a guy name... Hans Joachim Marseille...He controlled his plane by slowing down and accelerating. Slow down before a curve and power through a curve,, the tires will grip the road and you will be in control.... Always ride in your "Bubble" ride with a option to exit left or right to avoid other cars or trucks or cycles.. Watch vehicles entering the road... They may or may not see you. Ride under control and be ready to stop controlled... Watch rain and ice and try not to lean much in bad weather... Get Experience and Ride safe... Real Men Ride Under Control. Try not to get killed.

Thanks for the great tips. I grew up riding dirt bikes and now years later I got a Suzuki Intruder 1400. Took it to the gas station as my first ride and it's a totally different animal than dirt bikes. The gas gauge is no issue for me. My Wrangler doesn't have a gas gauge so it's been habit for years to go by the trip meter.

I always start(electric or kick) on the bike and always check the brakes and gearbox is in neutral.Note some bikes have unreliable neutral lights or no neutral light.Always check the brake operation,I know someone who had their brake line cut but didn't find out till they crashed on their first corner.
@JoshuaHellyer
@JoshuaHellyer 10 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest starting the bike on the kickstand. It gives the bike time to warm up while you move around the bike checking brake lights, indicators, headlights, etc. It definitely doesn't hurt the bike. The bike is used to running at much higher revs on much higher angles. What it isn't used to doing is being started and ridden straight away. Unless you're suggesting you start the bike without the kickstand (while you're on it) and wait for five minutes. I don't think that's what you're suggesting.

More bad riding advice. Again giving the wrong road positioning and now saying we should close the throttle around bends. This will dip the front, transferring more weight to the front tyre which can cause a slip on a slippery surface. The correct throttle is a neutral throttle (cruising) keeping the bike balanced. Perhaps cyclecruza needs some advanced training before giving out advice on how to ride
@xrichNJ
@xrichNJ 9 жыл бұрын
yeah you really should try not to coast through corners, as it takes a lot of weight off the rear tire. also shouldnt be telling beginners to stay in the far right lane on the highway as that is where the most merging happens. cars are coming on and exiting all the time and for a beginner it may just be too much to keep track of and will take their concentration away from riding with proper technique.
@stevepritchard1331
@stevepritchard1331 9 жыл бұрын
Exactly what a cruising throttle is! Throttle off is weight on the front wheel. Power on is weight and power to rear wheel, making front light. Cruising throttle is balanced between the two. Cruising throttle is the amount of throttle required to cruise along at the same speed. Balanced, neutral are other terms used for this. Perhaps you are confusing "cruising" with "coasting" which is throttle off and clutch in. Definately the wrong thing to do

Pretty good tips all around, but I think telling new riders to "coast" through a turn with gravel ect.. is not such a great tip. At least if they have already entered the corner don't shut off your throttle and try and coast, that could cause you to run wide. If you encounter an obstacle mid turn A) don't stare right at it...target fixation is a killer. Stare at the pot hole hit the pot hole. Always look where you want to go B.) Take evasive maneuvers, adjust your line, but try and keep your speed constant to avoid upsetting the bike's suspension and chassis. If you're not comfortable doing this, then practice in a parking lot before you hit public roads. And probably the best thing to avoid the situation all together is to take an slow pass on the road before picking up the pace in order to check for these obstacles.

One does not hope that he doesnt do these mistakes; one makes sure he wont do them by lots of training. These mistakes will most certainly make you crash and harm yourself. and then there goes your ''strong rider''. With this naive attitude of ''I'll make errors anyway so dont blame on me'' I wouldnt even let you ride a bobbycar. Yes you may learn from mistakes in many situations in life, but not in this hobby. In this hobby you may be killed from mistakes.

You have said it: "MAY BE KILLED" From stupid mistakes like not watching whats around you, going parallel with a car or going beyond your limits, YES dumb little mistakes like not wearing your gloves or helmet and arriving home good, dont think so. it depend but i dont think any error will make you harm or kill. Here in mexico, where i live, is a different story. I do take my safety seriously, and that is why i will practice hard and gettting some advice before i go to the streets so anything bad does not happen to me. Am i afraid riding a motorcycle? NO. I have been through a lot in life.
@5991dav
@5991dav 10 жыл бұрын
bokuwaVegetadesu ''little mistakes like not wearing your helmet'' this really proves my point. Its not even up for question weather to wear one or not. When you want to go riding the helmet has to be on your head, period. And with ''may be killed'' i meant that most likely if you survive you spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair or suffer from other permanent issues. I don't care what you do on your bike, i just wanted to warn you, that it is in fact dangerous and many beginners nowadays don't respect their bike and the force it can create anymore. Especially those who get a kilobike for their first one

Sometimes you need to be in different spots depending on the road condition but if you tend to stay on the left side of the road next to the yellow line you are asking for trouble, not only do you run the risk of getting clipped by a rogue car but if you ever low side you run a higher chance of being ejected into oncoming traffic. At least when you ride on the right center if you low side you have a higher chance of remaining in the same lane if you go down.

7:30 I want to point out: Here in Norway, where we pay alot for good lessons on how to ride properly; we learn to be on the right side of the left wheeltrack, where cars have their left wheel. This make you visible to oncoming traffic when you are behind cars. Meaning they won't try to pass. This might be more relevant here in Norway since we don't even have half the amount of double yellow lines. That is also something I don't get, in america... Why so many double yellow lines? Are drivers there really THAT bad?

+AlterEgoKEB We drive on the left hand side of the road here in Australia but like Norway the Government spends significant time and money on driver testing and training. We were taught to ride on the inside section of the lane (so the right side of the left lane) so when cars pass they don't get tempted to overtake you using your lane as well as being more visible. Although when someone comes from the opposite direction or moves to overtake you then you move to the outside of the lane so if they cut you off, you're further away from them.

Hey thanks bro! yeah most of the coasting do is at low speeds, usually 90% of my coasting is in a straight line up to a stop sign, stop light or other stop. I never coast at high speed. I find that stop and go coasting increases my MPG, that's how I'm able to average 43 mpg but yet still have fun on the backroads. I used to average 80 mpg on my former 2011 cbr250r.

VTR1000SPW Plus, you don't need to warm up a sport bike because of how it's carburuated, you wouldn't want a build up of carbon monoxide. You don't need to ride on the balls of your feet unless you are riding in rough terrain. Put your toes to the side of the rear brake and your toes under the shifter. It is much fast to get to the brake and to shift up to move out of the way of someone. You should always be in the left part of the lane because it has the most rubber, least oil, and is least dangerous for people coming out of a driveway or turning right on an intersection. When someone is passing you in the other direction on a two lane road, adjust to the right then. On the highway, the middle left lane or far left lane is the best because there is less merging happening, and it's least used.

+Bryson Frank 1) lol not all sports bikes are carbureted. 2) most bikes if not all bikes made nowadays are fuel injected. 3) it doesn't matter if its carbureted or fuel injected, a bike, or a car, a speedboat , or a damn jet. you let any motor warm up. But I guess the "unbelievable" "amount of wrong information given" in this video is going to lead to your bike being fucked up faster than anyone who lets their bike warm up like your supposed to O_O. and while I just said that im not saying everything said is this video will always work for everyone, because different areas and conditions call for different types of riding, but its not completely wrong. and yes keep riding with your heel and when you go over that nice bump and accidentally shift into a different gear and crash, just remember the "unbelievable" "amount of wrong information given".

I never said you have to stay just right of center always. Of course you're going to move around in the lane when needed. Also, when you are traveling in the lane closest to the center lane that has a turning lane, you will want to ride closest to the yellow line near the center turning lane, farther away from cars to the right of you. Basically, it's all about planning an emergency bail out area and where it is the safest if you should lowside. You DO NOT want to low side next to the center

I've had it since sep 2012, still looks great. From what I hear not all aftermarket fairings are equal, some are better than others. I must have gotten the better ones. Be careful, you might want to check the forums for a vendor recommendation.

not always but I should! lol. It saved me once when I noticed the tire not holding air pressure, then I noticed a nail in my tire. Always check air pressure and the oil level even if you don't do anything else.

Rule of thumb is Newer bikes have a O2 sense and needs about 2 mins of warm up. Older bikes need a bit more time about 5+ mins to warm up or they will can cut out. Basically there is nothing wrong with letting your bike warm up the first startup of the day, based on temp and weather. When your getting your gear on, ie: helmet or even your jacket. It gives me a minute to look for any leaks or drips I would have missed. This last year I put over 22K miles on my bile without a problem. I've been ridding over 40+ years. Ride at your pace and dont let your friends push you to get hurt. Be safe and live for anther ride.

I respect you for not letting your ego get in the way of providing good information. I agree, staying on the center line can be extremely dangerous if a car veers over into the opposite lane. The problem with staying on the outside of the lane is there is a potential for leaves, dirt, sand, and any other number of hazards near the edge of the road. It may be best to simply move over to the right close to the outside of the lane when a vehicle is coming the other way. Cheers.

***** I'd rather own a Kawasaki ..... A Kawasaki is WAY better then a honda ....if I had to choose between a 2015 zx10, Gsxr 1000, or a cbr1000. ......I'd be getting the zx10. The zx10 with a few mods will smoke busa

I work at a shop I haven't seen any with issues other then needing a cam chain. Only thing honda is known for is reliability. Not being fast....or handling the best...just simplicity and reliability. I hate when people compare moto GP honda Grand Prix machines to their mass produced line. Truth to the matter is this.....Hondas are outdated ....their chassis isn't the best...power isn't the best....they don't even come with a slipper clutch. I'd own a gsxr before I owned anything honda. And I'm not fond of gsxr's either
@streetdreamsstreetbi

It depends the 600 or the liter bike? And what years....... The r6 chassis performance hands down best 600 ever mass produced. The 2006 2007 was a good bike but the 2008-present even better and lighter......the r1..... The 2007 2008 in many peoples opinions whom race was a much better bike then the 2009-2014. That crossplane when they first came out with it in 2009 was garbage. Even all the way up to 2014......the 2015 r1 is basically the crossplane motor shoved into an r6 chassis....... Needs more development but is very promising. Now the new bmw s1000RR for the money in 2015 beats everything else....Even dunlop was gonna ride the Milwaukee yamaha r1 and at the last second he switched over to the bmw s1000RR.... Because even he said the bike has a very promising future. It just needs more development.

Couple more things to check guys, chain slack, chain lubrication, front and rear brake operation, if you use the front brake and the lever is too loose (i.e you have to get the lever quite close to the throttle before you feel the brake biting) it might be a sign of air in the brake system and you don't want your brakes failing.

3. And about "shifting down before passing a vehicle on a highway". You said in another video about "too much of the power " for 600cc. Try CBR 1000 RR (my previous bike). at speeds of 75MPH on awesome Arizona highways no downshifting needed. Just twist right handle a little bit. And that 80' long semi that was in front of you already disappearing in right rear view mirror. Other than those few "blemishes" you are doing very good job educating people and saving lives for real. Thank You!

One thing you might consider when dealing with poor grip and turns is to downshift and get up on the revs. By running the engine up and having the bike in a lower gear, the engine limits the amount of wheel spin that is possible. It seemed counter intuitive at first, but I picked it up at a BMW demo I took a while back and it has proven to work for me.

Road position, well you are spot on to say never in the middle which is a big newby error. But left or right track is not so simple. I would say it is very dependent on the situation. Left track has better visibility, is a blocking position against cars that want to share your lane with you from the left etc. But as a one off rule of thumb for a newby probably more right than wrong. Cheers

The most important thing i have learned to go fast as safe as possible ( if there is such a thing ) is to ride loose. If your wrist are hurting after a ride, your riding wrong. This once again was a bad habbit i had picked up early years of riding. Let the front tire do its thing ( to a point ) and concentrate of where you want to go, not what the bike is doing. If the bike slips up it will be instinct that gets it back not planning.

Advanced riders keep the left foot over the gear lever as this stops the delay between changing gears. If your right foot is covering the brake with slight pressure then you need to adjust the lever to suit. This is what I've picked up watching tons of advanced videos. Great bike looks good.

Another new ride mistake (one of my own while testing a 2009 675 Daytona) I decided to put the clutch in and rev up under a bridge on the motorway (English version of a highway), the road was slightly damp, I let the clutch back out and the rear wheel spun up and I fish tailed like mad. Managed to stay on but was very lucky. Scared the hell out of me.... Lesson learnt
