No modeling, no CAD, no cardboard, not even trial and error ... hang it here, this is where it should go -- weld it. Reinforce it. Rince and repeat. I'm having improper amounts of fun watching the build -- keep it going!

I am totally amazed by your fabrication skills!!! 👍🏻 What a cool project and fun to watch. Sadly in my country a project car like that could never ever be road-legal… 😪

Looks like a lot of fun no drawings just shade tree art., A hollow twin panel aluminum- "Baking sheet" should be made to go between engine and seats. could be

I've seen cinderblocks collapse under tires when used like that. I know your car is light but better to turn them and put a board on top.

I recognize you are not a "step by step" channel. Obviously, you are making A LOT of very careful measurements, plus experiments, "behind the scenes", to get a efficient design and an exact fit. Very impressive. ....(an understatement) The engine location is indeed concerning - heat and noise. I assume you will fashion a heat shield, perhaps with some insulation?? Can't wait for the next one!!

Great channel you have built Jared. I really like this project because of there’s so much fabrication. Would like to see more of that in the future.

Impressive fabricating work, Jared. This will be one cool project! You could probably fashion an insulated engine cover.

I really like your metal working skills, looks really good and professional. Also great to see what progress you are making with the FIAT 850 Spider. I am curious to see what kind of firewall you will be using between the engine and the front seats, that's really close.

Wow if it we only 4 inches lower and back a couple. Seems like there is enough clearance to the ground, but would require changing the sub frame. Still awesome!

Hard mounting. Are you looking to add some type of vibration control? As usual, good fab work.
@Jerod_Helt
@Jerod_Helt 2 жыл бұрын
It needs to be solid mounted, just like it was on the bike, since I’m using a chain drive system
@MichaelAmster
@MichaelAmster 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jerod_Helt good point. Don’t want the chain falling off. Maybe the subframe can get rubber mounts to the chassis

I hope you're making a bulkhead Infront of the engine, your seats are going to melt! What's the weight expected to come in at? It looks like you're doing a substantial job of all the mounts and subframes etc, but it also looks heavy and that'll really put a dent in the performance. 1000cc Bike engines are great but you really want to be keeping the weight around 600kg max.

Fab chops top rate. Layout design on the other hand... Even if you come up with what will have to be a paper thin firewall, mounting a one liter mc engine in your ear is far from optimal positioning.
@SaxCass

Are you planning on an adjustable jackshaft and 2 chains?
@Jerod_Helt
@Jerod_Helt 2 жыл бұрын
Yep that’s the plan. I’m not sure how or if it will have reverse yet. Might use a starter motor for reverse…

Nice job!! The engine is positioned quite high up. Why not place it behind the subframe?

Agreed, this is a bit awkward. I'd personally rather implant adrivetrain from a FWD car. Motorcycle engine just adds complications for the sake of novelty.

would it have been possible to mount the engine lower with modifications to the frame?
@Jerod_Helt
@Jerod_Helt 6 ай бұрын
The diff prevents the engine from going any lower. I also like the way it looks with the engine sticking out. If the car was built for the track maybe other decisions would have been made, but it’s just a canyon carver

I was wondering why you mig or tig weld some parts?? Why not mig all parts?? Why use tig?? I still dont understand this even though ive watch many builders and tutorials about this, maybe you can enlighten me more, thank you!!!
@daos3300
@daos3300 2 жыл бұрын
mig is great for quick tacking in position, and bigger stuff in the car since it's more mobile. tig gives you more control and neater welds (particularly if you only have flux core mig) for parts you can take to a bench.
