We have traveled via motorcycle for over 30 years. This was a yearly thing starting with several couples and now as we are turning 70 its just the two of us but we are going strong and have upgraded to a roadman camper / trailer and the Goldwing trikes (I build) I am not sure we would ever go full time but We sure do enjoy our 5-10k annual trips. I'm considering it. It seems to me it could cost more to live at campsites than it does paying a house payment! 1000 bucks for a month stay at a camp site. I'd like to run from cold weather and spend a few months in Arizona or south florida in the winter but damn it's high ! I'm 36, single, and debt free. I could sell my house and put 200k in my pocket. But I'm afraid I would blow through it trying to live in campsites
@TwoWheelsBigLife4 жыл бұрын
We agree with you on living at campsites. However National Forest campsites are much much cheaper and dispersed or Free camping that’s the best. Hi guys, I'm a 40-ish years rider myself, but I never did a 5.5k miles ride... My longest ride was a Seattle to Orlando in seven days, West coast down and up and thins like this... Europe all around (I'm originally from Germany), there is barely a place I haven't been at, but Europe is small compared to the US, as far as riding goes... Now to why I'm writing this... You don't look like the youngest anymore, nor do I , but I'm in an athletic shape, people would say... I don't need medical attention, I don't carry drugs of all kinds and I can still move freely; this being said, there are things which can get uncomfortable on long rides, like the butt might not like it a lot, hands (controls) no longer feel like in the twenties... You might have a late reaction to a traffic situation which would put you out temporarily, you might want a bit of pleasure (well deserved at this age), relax and enjoy coziness... Are you really sure this is the best way for spending what time is left ahead of you? I mean, if you do it, it's clear to me that that's what you think... But still... In any case, stay safe, keep your rubber on the ground and have all the fun you can!

So that's how responsible adults do the adventure trip. My wife and I have been pretty much winging for twenty years. To be fair, we would only travel for 3 to 6 months and then would return home for the warmer weather. We were starting to think about selling the house and going full time, but now we are sitting out the 'rona. We've camped in tents, small sailboats, and even a converted ambulance. Moved most of our business on-line. What little physical mail we had left was sent to my daughter's house. Enjoy your adventure.
