Gotta love your chalk diagram on the tilted pavement! I lost an expensive mirror in an active parking lot due to my inattention to roadway slope! I am going back to the beginning of that vid for a review. Many thanks for your video! ❤

People, Lana is making the best motorcycle riding instructional videos on KZbin. I don't say this lightly, I'm pretty critical of content but Lana has got this down pat. Clear instructions, well planned video and audio and easy to understand. This is the first video contant I've subscribed to. Compared to most other videos out there that are stuffed with fluff and more focused on the who instead of the what, these videos are refreshing. No dilly dally here, just good info presented in a professional manner. Keep going!!!

Hi Lana! I’m about 5’75” and just recently bought an F750GS for the low seat height and have always been nervous doing certain maneuvers due to the weight and height of bikes. Your vids are very instructive and encouraging for me, I will be watching all of them. Thank you for taking the time to make these!

What would be great to see if we could please how to get back on the bike and stand it up. I found difficult to safely stand up the bike from these angles.

Thanks for the video Lana! Had recently acquired a F800GS and my height is only at 5 ft 2 ;( the slopes at my workplace has been a concern for me as even on a R15 V3, I had almost lost my balance before. Your video has given me so much more confidence! Thank you for taking the time to show us all the necessary skills especially for a short rider that just loves bigger bikes!

Hi Nielle, thank you for the comment! There are a lot of skills that are necessary. But thankfully, majority of them are based on only a handful of fundamental skills. And these are what I'm focusing on for now.

Great skills, Lana. Another one to cover would be strategies to pull the bike upright when unavoidably parked with the incline running downside of the kickstand

Thank you so much for this. I have been looking for a video like this for the past year. I am only 5 feet large touring bike while I ride well parking. Lots are absolutely terrifying for me. This has been so helpful.

You are very skilled, I had a scooter as a 1st bike , then I changed to a street bike 650cc . All together, I think, was around 6 years . I don't have a bike atm but one day I hope to come back again. Love the gs 1250 For sure, if I get there, it will be an achievement Thanks for your video

Hey Lana, I just bought a GS after riding a Kawa Versys for 8 years... I wonder how you get the GS on the center stand... I'm hurting myself trying. I'm also a small 50 year young female rider 😉 with not enough weight to swing it over
@LanaOnWheels
@LanaOnWheels Жыл бұрын
It is absolutely doable with the right technique. You need to pull the back of the bike up. You can find some videos on KZbin about that. I’ll take a note to make a video about this to show that it’s possible even for smaller riders. Please don’t hurt yourself. Find somebody locally to help you learn this skill. They will be able to adjust your technique as needed.

Thanks Lana, I'm a short biker and enjoyed all of the video series. do you think it might be interesting to make a new video on how to get a passenger on a motorcycle for us short in stature?
@LanaOnWheels
@LanaOnWheels Жыл бұрын
Hi Alessandro. You are asking a very important and tough question. Most skilled riders consider riding with a passenger to be the next level of complexity. The logic is simple, you take another human life onboard and become responsible for their safety. This means that ALL your riding skills have to be already at the top level before considering this step. And I mean ALL: emergency stopping, emergency swerve, emergency straighten and stop, tight cornering, tight turn arounds, backing up the bike, and other slow speed maneuvers. With that in mind, I'm personally not ready yet for this step. If I come across anybody I trust who teaches this, I'll let you know.

Instead of backing up, i just pivot the bike on its kick stand to turn the bike around. it seems so much easier.....

Might need to turn off hill assist in some scenarios.
@LanaOnWheels
@LanaOnWheels Жыл бұрын
For some bikes you are correct. This is very specific for a given bike. Even 1250 from different years behaves differently. I typically avoid using hill assist, but this is a personal preference as well.

Those flashing lights you have on the front of your bike, seem very off putting to other road users. I don't know what country you are in but in England they would be illegal. Where flashing your lights is only permitted to make other road users aware of your presence on the road.

The flicker you see is a video artifact that happens frequently with LED lights (in this case it's because they're dimmable). In real life, when seen by human eye, the lights are steady.
