Nice video,I managed to get the cheep Chinese one today for £41.99 and they say it will be here for Friday/Saturday that’s just two days ,I do like that box you fitted it looks very smart thanks for sharing 👍

Hi Kojak 4444. The Chinese version is exactly the same so for something like this it’s worth saving the money. Hope you get on with it. Cheers. Billy

Great video. I chose the Touratech for a few reasons. I have a standard GS with low suspension. I needed to maximize the clearance between the box and the tire and brake line on my GS. Both the Touratech and the Chinese knockoff have a more angled design which gives a bit more clearance. And while the Chinese knockoff was almost identical there are two important (to me) differences. The brackets and hardware which mount the box to the bike are much stronger and of higher quality plus they place the box closer to the pannier frame and away from the tire. Also, while the lock is similar to the Touratech lock I was able to have the lock on the Touratech box keyed to match the locks on my Touratech panniers, so one less key to carry. Finally, I spoke to the Touratech dealer and they would allow me, at their expense, to return the box if I wasn’t happy with the fit. That wasn’t an option on the Chinese box. Was that enough to warrant the big price difference? Well, it was for me but clearly isn’t enough for everybody. The toolbox you reviewed today would be an excellent choice for those with a little more available clearance. I didn’t have that luxury. I enjoy your channel...subscribed!

HI BradB. Thanks for your comments and support for the channel! I was not aware that the brackets to hold the tool box on were of higher quality for the Touratech vs the Chinese knock off. Good to know!. Great point on the angle. I had not considered this as I have my bike set at the highest setting with the seat on high setting so plenty of room for me. Also I don't take the big GSA off road so never really going to risk knocking it on rear mud guard of swing arm. Stay safe, ride safe. Cheers. Billy

Does the rear pannier frame get in the way of the box opening at all please, can you post a pic on here?
@BillysBikeAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. The pannier rack is not in the way. Depending on the size of your license plate it may over lap as it does on mine (see pic on my instagram account @billysbikeadentures I will put on shortly) but when unlocking you lift the cover up about an inch and then out to the left. It's absolutely no problem. Cheers Billy

Have you had any issues with the rear mud guard hitting the toolbox?

Hi Paul. Thanks for watching and your question. No never had that issue. Mainly used on road and when off road only hard compact trails so nothing too strenuous. Cheers. Billy

Does this box require you to take off the rear mud guard ?
@BillysBikeAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. Definitely not for road use. If you are going off road, it depends how hard you will ride and the settings of the bike but there is a chance that off road you will know the rear mud guard. If you have an additional mud slinger as well that will be impacted. Hope that helps Mike. Ride safe. Billy

It's important to advise you not to go off-road with that thing in there or you might regret it. The wheel arm is going to hit that box and is going to damage it. I have the same box by the way and that's a safety issue. Stay safe.

First, why buy the cheap one, especially from China, who are known for sub-standard and non-durable components? Second, Touratech makes outstanding products and is leading the industry in after market motorcycle parts. I would rather pay a little more for quality add ons to my GSA. And third, the Touratech just downright looks better and matches the bike better. No offense, but the box you have, although it has a better capacity, just doesn't look good on the bike. Great video and very informative.
@BillysBikeAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and your comments. Agree that Touratech make better parts but when it comes to a plastic tool box that is identical to the Chinese one, I know which one I will go for. However, the one i went for I am happy with, more durable materials than the plastic one and as you mention larger capacity. I do purchase Touratech kit sometime eg sat nav mount on my BMW. Lockable and durable, this kind of thing is a no brainer to choose from Touratech. Cheers. Billy

Black plastic vs black plastic. Well not all are equal and thats the same for stainless steel. Some still rust.
@BillysBikeAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Not all equal when it comes to cost. I was quite surprised by the price difference. A small price difference I don’t mind but not that big. All have pros and cons. Down to personal choice 👍

@@BillysBikeAdventures Well one has R&D plus design costs and possibly patent costs. The other just stole all that and also piggy backs off Touratech's advertising. Do you think the fake one is paying advertising? Who pays for this channel??
@BillysBikeAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Mostly I pay for this channel. I sure don’t earn a living out of it and the majority of products I have bought myself. If you are happy to pay £70 more for a tool box than great. I personally don’t think it’s worth it. But like I said, it’s a personal choice
