NOTE: Seem like too much gear? IT IS! Much more could be strapped on board, but this is essentially just a maximum load-out for these containers, with multiple options for different seasons & scenarios.

That's actually a vinyl wrap I applied, & it's real cheap if you have a go at it yourself. Not all that hard either, just a little time consuming.

The material I used was a "flat british green" from the company Vvivid vinyl, just make sure to have a heat-gun or hair-drier handy before you start.

I'm considering a G650GS after mainly riding larger displacement cruisers. I have a trip planned for July of '19 from northeastern Minnesota to Boise, Glacier, Banff, and home again. I'm a bit leery of a 650 single on the long stretches of highway. How fast can you comfortably run at highway speeds (and a bit above), like across Montana as an example? I hope I'm not making an incorrect assumption, but thanks for your service. Never forget.

I'm not the most experienced rider, but I didn't have much of any issues maintaining between 70-75 on long highway stretches. Only problem I encountered was wind from either side pushing me around, but I think that's just a part of life when riding relatively upright on a taller motorcycle like this.

@@Tinker1837: Did the trip I mentioned on my cruiser, but decided not to go into Canada as I carry all the time. Still considering a GS as cruisers just don't do it for me anymore. On leg of the trip was 1566 miles in 27.5 hours from home to Boise. The rest was more relaxed and enjoyable.

The vinyl wrap looks really nice on the Sertao. I’m thinking of doing mine but can’t decide between wrapping it or just spraying it with plastidip. Was it a pain to wrap it?
@Tinker1837
@Tinker1837 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'd definitely do it again, especially now having some experience, next time will be much easier. The vinyl will hold up MUCH better than plastidip, since it just rubs right off any high friction areas or scratch prone spots. Plastidip is less work to apply, but much more work to remove vs. vinyl.

The built in voltmeter is so handy! So far it's held up great in heat, rain, snow, mud, everything I've thrown at it. Not bad for only $15-20. Here's a link >>> www.amazon.com/dp/B07CYYB48K/

Nice video. How do you like the Karoo 3 tires? I just ended my first season on my Karoo 3's, about 800 miles. They hum a lot, but they sure pull me out of some pretty soft dirt fire trails. Could you share your info for the supplemental lighting you added? Did you have to do any complicated wiring and mounting for these lights? Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Quite liking them so far, honestly was surprised by their street manners, but not all that surprised how not great they are in snow. The headlight LED is a "Cyclops" conversion that was plug & play, & the auxiliary LED pods are a pair of dual flood + spot beam pods I mounted with custom aluminum brackets I fabricated to hang off the forward side-fairing bolts. Wiring was pretty straight forward using a basic Hella weatherproof relay that triggers from the main headlight's high-beam wire (so the stock high-beam switch turns on everything at once), & the main power feed for them runs straight to the battery with an inline fuse (everything's tucked along the frame under the plastics). Main Headlight LED link >>> www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/BMW-F800700650GS-LED-Headlight-Bulb-Cap-for-High-Beam--2013-and-Older_p_120.html Auxiliary LED pods link >>> www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AIVUHBM/

Excellent video! Your Sertao looks SWEET. I still have the stock white with horrible decals... really like what you've done with the colour change. Did you do that yourself?
@Tinker1837
@Tinker1837 6 жыл бұрын
I did! Not perfect since it was my first go at applying vinyl, some edges went a little wrinkley. Definitely will have a better chance at it the second time around. And for roughly the price of an oil change... I figure why not just try a new color every now 'n then?

Yep, it's a thick vinyl wrapping, kinda like a big sticker that you heat up & stretch over things. This is the material I used: vvividshop.com/ ...and 3M makes some top notch stuff as well, but for 2x the cost.

I do & it's been as reliable as I hoped for, only issue so far has been a fork seal's started leaking... but that might be my own fault for not keeping them clean enough. I've heard the generation of GS you picked up is the best they ever made. I always hear the Dakar650 & the KLR650 are the epitome of midsize dual sports.
