I bought mine 3 Years ago, primarily because I wanted a bike that would do everything, tour, commute, and some gentle ( Trail ) off roading. Before the test ride at my Local Dealer, I was pretty much convinced the T7 was the bike for me,. It just had to feel good to ride . 20 minutes into the test, I was amazed with the engine, for road riding it has all the power I need , I have ridden for years, so many machines - ( Years in Mototrcycle trade - easier to count which machines I have not ridden than those I have ) so around 70BHP is all i require. The general feel of the T7 is homogenous, everything working so well together, in just about any situation, 4 annual European tours later I still love the machine, and am hugely bonded to it. When you are thousands of miles from home, having a bike which you know WILL start and not fail you, is a massive attraction for me. I have fitted Akrapovic Siencer, H&B centre Stand, Kaoko Cruise Control, Addventure Screen adjusters and Yamaha Low seat option. Love it.

I've had my T700 since April 2020 and love it. The bike has now reached 65200 km. A lot of gravel road and 4 wheels road. I have never had a problem with this bike. I do the maintenance myself. It is an easy to maintain motorcycle. This bike never travels without the luggage except for my practice in the sand pit near my house. The total weight during my travels is 380kg (motorcycle, luggages and myself). This motorcycle is awesome. Thank you for your report.

Really appreciated this long term review, Dave, and I feel the same about mine! I have 10,000 miles on mine now and the most notable improvements I've made so far have been the tail-tidy, one-finger clutch, taller wind screen (like Clubby's), removed the OEM crash bars, but most importantly....changed out that rear brake lever to 'The Fix' by Camel ADV (awesome improvement!!). I got about 6, 000 miles on the original tires but have now changed them to the Motoz Tractionator GPS and really happy with that so far! I don't do a lot of mud, but for the gravel roads, water crossings, and tarmak they have been great! As always, thanks heaps for your great work!! Ride safe!

I’m one of the guys that is still torn between the 901 Expedition and T7. The Norden has all the bells and whistles and much better package off the showroom floor. The lower CG is much more appreciated in tough handling situations, but there’s no denying that the CP2, agile handling, and reliability of the T7 just keeps it competitive in a fast growing market. The issue is, the price becomes negligent on the Yamaha after you factor in all the work needed to bring it up to speed with the others. Suspension, skid plate, seat, and crash bars and you’re already at 890/901 price range, without cruise control, traction control, and all the tech the euro bikes provide. Tough call…

Just my two cents ,but if you can't do it on a T7 it's not really ADV riding more like enduro riding, ADV is meant to be a crossover, sure you can do long distance on a 250 but that would be a bit painful, they're great on the technicle stuff, but I'll keep loving my T7, and use my 450 for enduro.

Good vid Dave. Enjoyed. Tight fit mate. Pinch up at the swimming hole. I agree with you a 100% on this machine. It's my RTW bike for certain, hands down. Fuel mileage , dependability and simplicity are the sounding reasons for that. Yes, it has shortcomings but nothing I can't deal with or adapt to. My bike is my bike and no body elses. I have Ohlins front and rear made for me and my carry items. I got a hell of a lot of other items such as a Acerbis fuel tank and all kinds of protection guards and such. A lot of expense for sure but a lot are necessary. I feel Yamaha as many other Japanese makers sell a great basic machine at a market level od sales and at a price point. You get a really good frame and a wonderful motor with this to build your own way. I stock trim many will ride and do serious distance and it will be fine for them. At 67 almost 68 I want what I want and it be able to perform well beyond my limits. But when you need it most, you got it. A couple items, A Sargent heated seat, replaces my thinned out custom made Seat Concepts model and a new made rear brake lever from Camel ADV Products. A really good fix for a sticking loose rear factory brake lever. Try one, you won't regret it. They make top quaity components and are really the hreatest people to deal with. Riders they are. Check out their channel. Lot of riding the Desert X Duc in hell bent places out west. Now your comment on the rear brake, what do you think it is Dave? Is it the caliper, brake line, or maybe the master cylinder. Changing pads to another type, brand, does that help? Or is it just wrong? Thoughts. Now glad you and Clubby are getting the new to you and maybe never for me in USA, Raid model. I know it's going to take a while but you will be one of the first to ride both and hopefully extensively. I think I would like to have one given the lower C of G but my bike is mine. Hard to jump on another and do or feel the same. And that's not all. Those tanks take time to fill. And the support protection guard/band seems a throwback to the old Tenere mode; as it was equipped the same way. I've seen the Raid tricked out with all the factory options, pretty darn nice. All in time. You take care. Keep up the good work. Someone has to do it. Hope Clubby has a good safe ride up to the Snowy Mtns. Sure he will have a wild report on the Raid. Now for Nugget to test one.

Hi. I'm considering getting a motorbike license, I have very little experience riding motorbikes, only one day at marokko as a present for my 40 yo birthday and other three days at a karting track with supermotard. I have to say I disagree with this comment. The other day I rode (outside of the roads, on a big closed circuit of road) a t7 a 701 rally and a CRF 300l. I have to say the CRF is by far the most easy to ride, it's low, it's not very powerful, everything it's easy, but if you like to give the thing some speed it shows its limits very easily, the t7 is the best mix between off road and on road I guess. It's not very high, I could get to the floor on my toes (it was mounted with the higher seat option) and the bike is smooth. The 701 is the more aggressive option, high as fuck, very prone to slide the rear and with suspensions that I have no way of even begining to look for their limits. To sum up, in my opinion saying the t7 is not for everyone because of the height and so on is not completely objective, I am 1.74 and didn't find it that tall. (Don't try the 701 then) and I found the CRF 300 l as a very nice bike but one you can get bored of very fast of you like to get to speed on it. Just my opinion. Have a nice day!

I’m in the market for a mid sized Adv but I’m beyond confused with so many good choices. T7 isn’t near top of true list but that reliability is getting it closer up there. So far the Norden 901 Expedition is winning the 890R in 2nd place but man those prices.

I’ve been between the 901 and T7 for a while. The 901 provides all the creature comforts, but it will not be the same competition in the tough stuff off-road where the T7 shines. It will outperform the T7 for touring on pavement and long gravel trips, though. Have to decide what type of riding you’ll do most.

I hear a lot of praise for the T7 and I was wondering how this compared with the Red variant, the Honda Africa Twin. I hear a lot of good on both and interested on your read. T7's seem to have a very strong second hand market and prices seem to be right up there. You’re in the outback. Most of us are on roads and the roads for our adventures. I want to know if the T7 is good on the road and green lanes in the normal European countryside that seat looks like a plank. I wouldn’t last 30 minutes on thatand that’s the first thing I would change before the suspension. It wasn’t built as an off-road Enduro. Again that seat would have to go and I’d have to find a tubeless solution for the wheels. Apart from the seat and the tubeless, the bike is perfect. In my view I just sold my ktm 790 adventure at a heated the engine noise.
