Not that much if you visit us in late fall early winter. The seasonal change will bring a lot of days with fog, especially during morning and evening. Go on a forest or mountain path during and add on top our quite large free roaming wolf populations that start hauling and gathering in packs for the winter and you will gonna get the most "real" Dracula experience of your life. There are no vampires of course, but do use common sense when dealing with wild beasts. Wolves are not that dangerous, even in packs, but the bears can become a problem.

@@cristitanase6130 Thank you for the information . It appears that Romania has become a destination, now for tourism rather than a "fly over" country ....... so many things to see and experience . Thank you, again !
@cristitanase61303 жыл бұрын
@@kens.8834 Yes in a way. But is not that "touristy" and hopefully it will never be. Let's hope it becomes "tourist friendly", not not tourist heavy or a tourist trap. For now we can easily accommodate five times per year or even more tourists. The prices are low, the people are friendly and the places are yet unknown and nice, perfect for "exploration tourism" and nature lovers..

Hi, Pavlin! Alba Iulia is a very important name in Romanian history because it is related to Romania's unification. Mihai Viteazu (you mentioned his statue), a great valachian leader (voievod), achieved to unify all three romanian countries for the first time in our history. He have entered in the city of Balgrad (the old name of Alba Iulia) in 1599. Sadly , the Union didn't last after his death... The actual citadel was built in the XVIII -th century by austrians (Transylvania was a part of the Austrian/Austro-Hungarian Empire), in Vauban style (a great French military architect). In 1918 after WWI Transilvania became Romanian, as is nowadays. This moment was celebrated by the construction of that beautiful orthodox cathedral that charmed you. It is called The Cathedral of the Nation's Reunification. In front of the entrance ther are the statues of Queen Maria and King Ferdinand of Romania. The nearby catholic church (St Michael) is one of the most valuable monuments in Transylvania. It was built in 1001. Iancu de Hunedoara (Hunedoara Castel's master and great Transilvanian leader) is burried inside it. The monument that you saw first is also dedicated to Union. The crosses are covered by the letter "U" (from Union). And one funny thing... That neighbourhood is not the city center as it actually seems to be... It's just a fancy and historical place. But you don't know how glad I am that you liked it. I apologize in advance if my strory was borring for you and your followers. Wish you all all the best!

I can't say Romania was ever a "dirty" country, but in the 90s it was on its knees because of Communism and Ceausescu. Maybe you refer to our "travellers", but they are nomads and are also improving anyway. Romania has been basically booming since the 2000s, but the gap was too big. Ceausescu brought Romania under the level of Ukraine in 1990 and close to the level of Moldova.
