Sir I hope that you can share how to adjust ignition timing and advance unit(bean can) with us! I will learn and use it on my 95 R 80 GS :) Thanks to you that I can completely tear down my bike and restore it by the help of your videos which you give great effort to teach us how to look after these precious machines!

Remove battery ground cable. Remove front engine cover. Use a timing light and twist the bean can so the bar under the "S" is lined up with the notch in the left side of the ignition timing hole on the left side of the engine block.

Great Job! I’ve noted this procedure for my first engine start on my R100. Do you recommend changing the oil filter after the first 10 mile run?

That's a good idea. Remove the filter paper and look to see if there are any chunks that are concerning. Some rubber and metal bits are okay

Brook, another FANTASTIC build and super helpful instructional video!! Quick question on the casings and HOW you get them so "like new"?? I saw the video of the block cleaning process you did but I'm assuming these components (block, gearbox, heads, carbs, etc) have also been vapor blasted?? IN the process of my first frame off rebuild (89 GS) and the goal is to make everything "look new" as you've done on the ST. Again, fantastic job and really appreciate all the work you do to fil, edit, and post the work. I do that for a living and know that's nearly as much time and effort as the build itself and I'm very thankful for the efforts.

Chuck, the engine block was not vapor blasted. The front engine cover, oil pan, transmission and rear drive casings, wheel hubs and rims were vapor blasted. Thank you for your kind words. All the best on your project😀

Hello Brook, i am doing a first engine start test on my 1988 r100rt . Three of the rockeratms are pumping oil but 1 dosent. I have cranked the engine more than 10 times 5sec burst. Do you know what i shud be looking at? And why only 1 rocker arm is not pumping oil?

There is a blockage in the oil passage somewhere.

@@bhagathpratap-o6n The cylinder sealant can block the cylinder stud passage where the cylinder attaches to the engine block, so I would start there. To check that requires you to remove the cylinder to see if sealant squeezed into the passage.
