Indeed! My grandmother's sister Gerda was a bank clerk, or actually "bank maiden" as they were called back then. She quite spontaneously managed to get a cabin on a cargo ship from Helsinki/Finland to Hull in 1947. In those days it was also quite tricky to go abroad as you needed a certain permission to change Finnish marks to foreign currency, but working at a bank she had the right contacts to do this and get the pounds needed. She and her friend took the boat to Hull and then travelled in England on trains for many days. As she had not learned English in school, it must have been quite an adventure. Gerda remembered well how some people they met were so worried , "oh dear, young foreign girls travelling like this" (Gerda was already 40 then). Anyway, the same cargo ship that took them back was delayed (in Hamburg, a city still in ruins) and they got a reprimand when they got back at work, but that didn't stop Gerda from going abroad again, many times during the 50s, Italy was her favourite, I think. She had so amazing stories to tell about her life. Gerda was 96 when she passed away.

Well, the Sahara starts now and if Noraly rides through that desert via Algeria and Mali or Niger, the only thing I can say is "chapeau"... further that's not the most secure places due to some terror plagued territory in both countries. Morocco is a multilingual country indeed. In the Rif (North) but also in the south Spanish is very common, because Morocco was also occupied by Spain. French is a essential part of moroccan communication because of the French colony, but not only for the olders even more for the youth. French is used as the business and education language. And the Amazigh language as u said is the native language of Morocco. Not everyone speaks Tamazight , but at least 50 % know how to speak one. Its the language of the Amazigh people, the indigenous people of Morocco. And than Darija which was brought by the Arabs (moroccan dialect of arabic) is basically spoken by everyone. So a Amazigh person would speak up to 4 languages.

As a Flemish Belgian, I'm quite interested in your voyage. We have a lot of Morrocon immigrants here which we don't really know about because of the cultural and religious barrier, (which works both ways, to be honest). I'm keen on learning about Morrocons. After all, they make-out over ten per cent of my country's population. I know a lot of Morrocons, but those have been raised in our Western culture and you can't see or hear any difference between "us" and "them". My new neighbour is from Morroco, so maybe I'll introduce him to your channel and ask him a few questions. I'll certainly learn something from the both you, the people you meet and from my new neighbour. Cheerio "Noortje".

Morocco is so diverse culturally...and the difference is deep even in the distribution of ressources (easy to notice in Noraly's journey). Unless your neighbour is a big traveller, he might only discuss the region he's coming from. Though there is a common culture spread by the official government to propagate some kind of common cultural symbols...but anyways ...I don't want to be too politial in this chanel. Cheers !

This type of interaction happens frequently when traveling alone. It's like someone appears and wants to help or be involved. Is Morocco safe for Western travellers. I was told ISIS control certain areas in the North Western countries of Africa which I presume includes Morocco 🇲🇦

@@keithbrien8929 I've been wondering about this but not in this part of Morocco. The next country after Morocco would be what used to be Spanish Sahara, largely controlled by the Polisario Front. Her other choices would be Mauritania or the Saharan part of Algeria, neither places I would consider safe.

🎉I am a Moroccan bicycle traveller. I had been to some of the places Noraly visited. Thanks to her, I have a new list for my next journey. Love the wild.

Can’t believe you would ride a bicycle rather than a motorbike, though you must be must younger and have time on your hands!

Morocco seems quite different from what I imagined. It’s different how you must be able to recognize a ‘main’ road by the width of the ruts ! Unlike many of the picturesque locations we’ve seen with you before, although Morocco has friendly people too. You have a wonderful knack to your personality smiling with your voice to make friends wherever you go, Keep up the great work, Noraly❤❤❤Rick

You always have so much love and interest for the land and the people your are traveling with. I admire that very much and für that your Videos are full of humanity and respect. I travelled through Senegal and Mali, only by feet, train, bushtaxi, and I always lived like you at families and in nature. Now I want to drive by bike, when it is possible again. Carry on, dear Noraly, you habe all good spirits at your side, because you live "Ubuntu. African philosophy - I am because you are!" that is fundamental different to european egocentrism. You will find this togetherness also by the poorest people. Best wishes!

Noraly you teach me and many of us so much. All different languages being spoken is amazing to witness. And can't say I was expecting to see anyone living in a very desolate part of the desert, but yet there they were living and seemingly striving.

The Amazigh people are actually the endogenous people of North Africa, and we speak different dialects of Tamazight (the language), here in Morocco there are 3 main dialects *Riffian Tamazight*, *Atlas Tamazight* and *Tachlhit* alongside *Darija* which is the an "Arabic dialect".

I like how Noraly enjoys the food in each country she's in. I did also, when I travelled. Diverse food is more available in my country than it was when i was a boy........albeit more expensive. There is an old saying, " Hunger is the best sauce". A sauce is added to make food taste better. Hunger does that all the time ! Trinidad & Tobago. West indies.
