Thanks to the kindness of an Icelandic businessman whose place I was inspecting, I visited Gullfoss about 15-20 years ago. He also took me to see a few other sights in western Iceland. The apparent colour of the water was an interesting yellow/gold when the light was right, which I think is how the waterfall got its name. Iceland is certainly worth a visit.

View at 8:55 brought to mind how when John Colter, one of the first American "mountain men" returned from the area of Yellowstone he described what he saw. Many thought he was lying about sulfurous springs, geysers, mud pots and steaming vents, deriding him, they called the place "Colter's Hell." Wonder who the "Colter" was in making the first reports of Iceland to Europe? If it had been Noraly, everyone would have immediately believed her as we all know she's far too pleasant to ever lie...and of course she would have had drone video, too. Enjoy the total silence, Noraly! It is to be enveloped in grace.
