I bought a used 2021 Tacoma almost a year ago. My first Toyota. It had 37k miles on it. SO GLAD I went used instead of listening to the salesman and waiting on a 2024 or trying to go with a new Tundra. I’m loving my V6 Tacoma so far.
@carlito_148Ай бұрын
They could have improved efficiency and gas mileage and kept the reliability. The 3.5 and 4.0 were 15 year old motors. They just decided not to. Turbos can be reliable its the build quality that is disappointing. Could have hybridized the existing motors and tuned them down or went 2.5 electric. Put a heavier transmission. BUMP STOPS.
@MrTheKingАй бұрын
The reason they changed the engine was not because it was old but because of stricter emission regulations. A 2021 V8 Tundra produces 601 grams of greenhouse gas emissions per mile, and a 2024 Tundra produces 459 grams per mile. I agree they should have kept the old V6 and V8 because they were tough but I mean they had a reason they had to change. I’d bet if it weren’t for the changing laws they would still use the old engines

@@MrTheKing it’s really unfortunate they are kind of forced to make the change. Less reliable vehicles are likely less environmentally friendly. So is it worth the slight increase in fuel efficiency? we bought a used toyota pickup with a 22something or other engine. it was AWFUL! sometimes we would bail out because of the gasoline smell thinking it was about to explode. sometimes the engine would just... stop running. then it would randomly start up again. i dont think i want to buy another, when it came time to replace it (as soon as we could afford it) we bought an f150 thats given us only one issue... and that was with the air conditioner after 140k miles. no big deal we fixed it and now its great. zero issues with the engine or transmission. to be honest the toyota was our first commercial truck and we remember it fondly for its many quirks.

This is what happens when Toyota trying to make "new" products. All they did was using old proven technolgy and only updating it for 15, 20 plus years. Therefore, they were "reliable" Now they have develope new tech like most others and see what happens. Toyota wasnt way better then others they just been doing dont fix it if it aint broke for really long time.

It's easy to say that "Toyota will take care of their customers", such as after an engine fails, because they are doing that now for 2022 and 2023 Tundras. Which are still under warrantee. What happens if I buy a Tundra or Tacoma and drive it 100,000 miles THEN the engine fails because of manufacturing problems? At that point I'd bet that Toyota would not jump to replace engines out of warrantee. I wish that the Tacoma had the current ergonomics and seating position but the old V-6 with a modern transmission, even a 6 speed, plus the manual transmission option.
