We live in Cornwall and our storage company told us that because of the weather here in his customers experience covers can cause more damage to vans due to wind and rain and debris damaging underneath

Our cover came with a pair of telescopic poles, which made getting it up over obstructions a lot easier. But it's still really a 2 person job. I also drop a blue tarp out front of the van so as not to get dirt on the cover.

Make sure its fitted reasonably tight (but not too tight) as they flap in the wind and rub the paint sometimes.

After both being a caravaner for 25 years and for the last 12 years owner of a motorhome I decided to purchase a Protech cover for my motorhome in February 2023 As the only secure place to keep my motorhome (without storage costs) was in my back garden, unfortunately under a tree which was a pain. The only regret I have is that as it was custom made I should have a clear panel for the solar panel as the onboard can charger can either charge the vehicle battery or the habitation battery. Two weeks ago I took the cover off and the motorhome was spotless as it was when the cover was fitted in October. Should have bought one years ago

Nice review. I really wouldn’t bother with a cover unless (a) it’s soft lined and breathable, and (b) the van is spotlessly clean before using the cover. We don’t bother, and just wash our campervan regularly, polish and wax it routinely and use covers for the wheels to avoid tyre degradation when it’s parked up.

I have the same size van plus the same Maypole cover , fitting it on my own is a breeze. The knack is to bring steps and get onto the roof with the cover in the bag, unfold it up there ,much easier than trying to drag it over from the floor as you did where you end up getting it covered in stones and mud.😊my van stays in storage for 5 months , I also remove the batteries and trickle charge at home. Used a cover 4 years since new and it’s still like brand new , when your up on the roof you get to see all the other green mouldy roofs on similar aged vans , unless your using the van year round a covers definitely the way to go 😊

Trick is NOT to get dirt on the inside of the Cover that will touch the Van, it will scratch it especially the wind moving it about on windy days!

If you don't have a long brush, like me, you could use your awning winding pole/handle.

Another question Kat, I have recently changed my camper van for a small motorhome and I now have a fridge with outside vents. Do I put the fridge vent covers on in winter. I might use it a bit in winter if it’s not too cold. I can do the bottom one on but there is no way I can get the top one on. What do you think?
