Motorhome lives - redneck engineering.

Picked up an old '80s motorhome for a friend of mine down in Spokane, 100 miles away from home.
Now, she has a carbed 454 big block in her, didn't run and we paid $300 for her. Ring gear was worn - Ground the starter down a good 1/4" so the gears engaged and she would start. Then, no fuel. Fuel tank didn't work, so... 2 gallon jerry can, Autozone fuel pump and some hose. Alternator didn't work, so we swapped batteries with the truck following us a couple of times.
Made it 1/4 way home before the jerry-rigged starter wouldn't engage again, towed it to a safe spot about half-way back. Came back a week later, sanded even more off the starter, changed the oil and... drove it home.
Halfway home, a tire started delaminating. We didn't have spare(and it was late Sunday night), so... 25MPH the whole way. Made it, and the tire still held air!
