Thanks for showing us Cork, my grandad was born there apparently and it looks beautiful. Hope Mark feels better soon, this is only a thought and I’m sure it’s not, but worth checking out his glucose levels as 7 years ago I felt really out of sorts off and on, turned out I was diabetic. As I say it’s just a thought and I’m sure it’s not but just to rule it out. So annoyed for you with those people and generators, very unsociable but glad they went early.

A lovely little note about Laurel and Hardy in Cove. They were at the end of their careers and did a last tour of the U.K. and Ireland. Some venues went well in England and some were only half filled and reviews were also half-hearted. They arrived at Cove Harbour to do shows in Ireland in September 1954 (?) I believe, not really expecting much. Unbeknown to the boys word had got around the town that they, Laurel and Hardy, were on board the boat arriving in the harbour. They both got off the boat to be greeted by many hundreds of screaming children and applauding adults. This apparently completely stunned them both - but the cherry on the cake was the bells of the lovely church in Cove playing a peal of their theme song 'Dance of the cuckoos'. Stan Laurel said later he would never ever forget that day or that sight. 🔔🔔

Thank you again and as always for filming and sharing (especially when when you're not feeling 100% Mark) I hope you'll be right as rain soon🎉❤. As an addition, Cobh was the last place that Titanic berthed before her fateful voyage. She was too deep to moor in the harbour so passengers were ferried out to her, where she moored in deeper water. She was berthed just outside the harbour entrance near Spice/Spike island. Cheers !

Glad to hear that you enjoyed visiting my hometown of Cork (especially given that, sad to say, you had a few reversals in Ireland, more recently) - I haven't lived there in years, so its interesting to see it through visitors' eyes. Mark definitely should have sought out some of his chicken giblets when you were in the Market... Back before the fire, it was the perfect place to find skanky animal parts, because - well, tbh, it _was_ actually kinda skanky! (Although back in the day when it really _was_ the 'English' market, there was no Irish allowed. Riff~Raff, you understand!) And today it's _still_ the perfect place to buy offal because it (the market) gone all chi~chi and 'super trendy'. Like offal... As you aver, even your late Queen was known to "get the 'messages' (groceries)" there! The Butter Museum is (I'm told) well worth a visit. (In my day, it was just the old butter market, and derelict.) I believe the Cork Ballet company is based next door, as well, in the Firkin Crane building, which was also part of the butter industry. There were two reasons why Cork became a major butter exporter - it's hinterland includes the so~called Golden Vale, some of the best dairying pasture in Europe... and Cork (and more specifically Cóbh) was for many decades a major HQ of the Royal Navy, while the city itself was an important port right up until the '70's; so Cork became a supplier of dairy products to the 'Senior Service', its cheese and butter as vital to the navy throughout the Empire as Rum, er, Rough Stuff, and, ah, _other_ Rough Stuff (not to mention all the naval battles, lol!) In fact, so valued was Cóbh - or Queenstown, as it was known back in the day - and Cork Harbour ("The Second Biggest Harbour in the World" as I'll bet a pound to a penny you were told it was, though Trincomalee, New York, Auckland and your own Portsmouth might take issue with that!) was so important to the British, that they retained it, along with Castletown Berehaven, also in Co. Cork, and Lough Swilly, up in Co. Donegal right up until 1938! As a matter of fact, I always thought it was kind of funny that Churchill didn't send in a few gunboats in when he became P.M., saying something like, sorry lads, but we're having 'em back - you probably heard, there's been _developments_ and what - have - you with this chap, H••••r..." Anyway, going back to the Butter Museum, it might've been for the best that you (Mark in particular) gave it a skip. It's only a short walk from the City Centre - so short, it would hardly be worth the wait for a bus - but the hills in that side of town are pretty steep. (Like Sheffield, Cork girls are said to have great legs. Now you know why - all them hills!) Finally, on the subject of famous Cork people - as most fans of Blues or Rock electric guitar will know, the 'Guitarists' Guitarist', Rory Gallagher was from Cork... Well, OK, 'hands up', he was born in Bundoran, Donegal, but it's true that he made Cork his home for most of his life, and we claim him as our own! As a matter of fact, that place you were eating ice~cream was literally only feet from a statue of the man (iirc - 'after my time') and a street - well, alley, really - named after him! Oh, and _finally,_ finally - that pub you discussed, Le Château, was probably called that in large part because it's part of what was the city's Huguenot quarter 'back in History times' (for those who don't know, the Huguenots were French Prostants at a time in France when being Protestant could be detrimental to one's health, so many came to Cork, something which would prove beneficial for Huguenots and Cork, both). As a matter of fact, that series of laneways between the main drag (Patrick Street) and that shopping area where you were enjoying your Ice Cream has semi~officially gotten the moniker of 'The Huguenot Quarter' again, at least for tourism purposes. Tbh, it sounds a mite pretentious to me, but what do _I_ know, HaHa!

Can’t believe you never went to Kerry .. it’s called the kingdom.. but they say it’s kingdom of heaven on earth .. it’s so beautiful.. Weather in Ireland you can be on one side of the road and the sun is shining and cross the road and it can be raining.. Cobh was the last port of call for the titanic on route to America.. Spainsh point is called that because of ships from Spainsh amadar.. some sank of the coast ( referring to your other video) Penny’s is primark .. Some people think they have a monopoly. I have a static caravan and pole let young kids run up and down decking from early. Don't get me wrong I had kids and I like to see them play, but I wouldn't have allowed mine to annoy others. Hopefully you'll get some quiet time xx

Outdoor on the pedestrian paths are public, just because they have tables and chairs, they don't have any rights 😉 to move you on.

The Cobh aire is the benchmark for other aires and some stopovers.. other councils are looking to them to see what they can do in their counties.. sadly it sometimes comes down to inconsiderate motorhomers (not you) which give others a bad rep..and that’s why councils are sceptical about opening aires.. Cobh is amazing and well worth as visit to others , last stop of the titanic (it was Queenstown back in1 912) don’t be deterred by one generator using person.. also our naval base Haulbowline, a visit to spike island is great too.. the town has restaurants, bars, an amazing Cathedral on the hill, and a titanic experience too.. only a 20 min train ride to into Cork city.. and as Lisa says Irelands second biggest city! Or as cork people say.. the real capital
