Great video and thank you for sharing this with us. I have a 2018 Swift Escape 604 Champagne with only 6k miles. It has the blue motorised valves, waste and fresh water. They have both failed, waste in the open position and the fresh in the closed position. The only way of manually operating them is via a tiny little valve on top of the motorised valve. This ridiculous little valve is the size of a 5p coin and almost impossible to operate. Mine just spins and does nothing. Anyway I’ll take a look at these sensors to see if they can help. Unfortunately it looks like the valves are seized up. Someone else commented that he has the same problem so he contacted the valves manufacturer and they confirmed that these valves are not designed for exterior use, I.e. at the bottom of a Motorhome so god knows why Swift uses them!

I've noticed a newer version had some thermal packaging around the drain valves. I may do something like this when I change mine. Both of mine were seized, too - I'm currently using pliers to turn the valve after I removed the blue motorised blocks.

@@ASwiftEscape thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the problem is nothing to do with frost it’s all to do with corrosion within the dump valve gears. Unfortunately as it’s a sealed unit it’s impossible to open it up to lubricate it with WD40. I have managed to open up the ball valve and I’m fitting a manual ball valve with a hand lever and I will dump the waste and fresh water manually. According to the valve manufacturer these motorised dump valves are not designed for fitting under a motorhome in all the elements. It’s worth mentioning that you can find these aftermarket dump valves on either eBay or Amazon for £20 so no need to pay silly money for the same ones as supplied by Swift.

Thanks for the info ,just about to go to Portugal and my tank is reading full , when i know it is empty. Will be crawling under the van on my return..

Glad this helped. You could potentially do this clean while you're away. However, if you're stopped somewhere for a long enough period (even better if it's warm) then you may find the sensor will display correctly. This is because the dirt on the sensor probes dries and then doesn't conduct electricity as well, so doesn't trigger the sensor.

Good tip there thanks just in middle of cleaning out my fresh water tank as only got our motor home June and want to start using the fresh water tank rather than carrying loads of bottles with us every time we go away 👍🏽👍🏽
@ASwiftEscape Жыл бұрын
Glad it helped. My advice would be to not drink directly from the water tank though - I carry a couple of bottles of fresh water. It’s fine if it’s boiled, but I wouldn’t drink it fresh from the water system. ;-)

@@ASwiftEscape ohhh really thought it would be ok once we cleaned to drink out of thanks for that 👍🏽👍🏽

Thanks very much for this, good to know what the sensor should look like on your vehicle. On ours the sensor beeps at us in thé middle of the night whenever we use a tap and that the system beeps is not configurable. Do motorhome makers ever actually use their vehicles? I like the levellers umbrella tip. I think you should use axle stands in addition as otherwise your life depends on those bits of plastic.

Yes, it’s more likely to bleep after splashes if there’s muck on those probes. It’s more reliable when the probes are clean. With regards to safety - I understand your concern. However, it’s also in gear. So, the handbrake would have to fail, both chocks would have to slip and, because both wheels on one side are at the same height, I would imagine it wouldn’t naturally roll off even the top rung on the ramps (they have levels/ridges rather than being a constant slope). Left in gear, I think it’s unlikely to come down by accident. Thanks for looking out for me though! :)

great vid i wish the maufacturers would put an access cap in the van aswell would be so much easier to clean out i use the same method you use
@ASwiftEscape Жыл бұрын
That would be good. I did recently see someone had given their tank a general clean by crumbling a dishwasher tablet up, washing it down the drain, and then driving the van for a bit. I might give that a go and see how much muck comes out. I don't think that will be enough to keep the waste probes clean, but it might reduce the chances of smells.
@decc2007 Жыл бұрын
I would clean the touching end of the flexible waste pipe before connecting it to the fresh water tank.
@ASwiftEscape Жыл бұрын
Well, on the surface of it, it would make sense. However, given that the fresh water drain outlet is exposed to road grime and everything else, I don’t really consider it to be clean.

Hi, we are Newbies and we have just bought the same van as yourself. Can you tell me which sound bar you bought for your tv? Love your videos and info they have all been a great help to us ,we will keep on watching Thanks you
@ASwiftEscape Жыл бұрын
It’s the Avtex sound bar. It fits directly to the bottom of the Avtex TV. I found that the sound from the actual TV went out of the rear of the TV and got lost towards the wrong end of the van. This sound bar makes a massive difference. @ASwiftEscape Жыл бұрын
Ah, ok - mine is the 19” version. Therefore, this sound bar won’t be quite as wide as your TV. I can’t see a different bar for the 24” so I would imagine they intend you to use the same one I have.
