The Creta is what the Honda City used to be to the middle class families few years ago. This may not be the coolest, nerd fest thing in the block but it certainly is the middle class people's ultimate aspiration, stature and desirability factor that the Honda City used to have even tho it had its more cooler competitions like Fiesta, Linea, Verna, Vento. Brand Creta is as strong as brand Fortuner in this booming 10-20 lakh segment. There's no two ways about it.

A diesel is a diesel is a diesel. The biggest factor is efficiency, no matter how you drive, it is not sensitive to fuel consumption. A turbo petrol on the other hand if a usual spirited drive costs 1500 buks it would just cost 700 or so on the diesel. It is the freedom to drive more.

The SX variant of the Turbo Petrol would’ve been the best value for money variant. Fun to drive combo without the annoying ADAS. Hyundai missed an opportunity here by offering turbo petrol on only the SX(O) trim. Picked up the same combination on the Verna and saved almost 1 lakh and couldn’t have been happier. Rather spend that extra money on fuel than on features which will be turned off.

Can we have a discussion about Sedan vs SUV and quantitatively prove that a Sedan is a better "body shell" for a passenger vehicle. I think it's much needed topic especially with all manufacturers ditching Sedans in favor of stupid SUVs. I'll volunteer some points in favor of sedans. Here we go! Quantitative advantages of sedans 1. More aerodynamic because of being low slung. 2. Lighter suspension components closer to ground gives better stability in cornering (not that a sedan is meant for spirited driving, but the dynamics of a vehicle closer to ground are going to be more confidence inspiring) 3. Since the weight of passengers is much lower compared to SUVs, the suspension can be softer and still not induce body roll. The reason why SUVs need a stiff suspension is to prevent excessive body roll (which happens due to the weight being higher above the suspension components). 4. Sedans are more comfortable (due to point 3). 5. Sedans can be built cheaper, because they don't need heavy duty suspension components and use less sheet metal compared to a similarly sized SUV. 6. Sedans have larger boot capacity. 7. Sedans are inherently safer because of 2 crumple zones front and back (and also because of points 2 and 3) Advantages of SUVs 1. More ground clearance (practical on Indian road conditions but not truly a significant advantage for city usage. Only useful for off-roading which are done better by true SUVs (Bolero, Thar, Jimny) and not pseudo SUVs like Creta) 2. Ease of ingress and egress. Despite enumerating all these advantages of Sedans, I've gone and purchased a Nissan Magnite :-( because of horrid road conditions near my place!

It does - eco, normal and sport. Sport has less acceleration lag (rubberbanding) than eco, but still noticeable compared to a manual or a torque converter. The reason I am a little worried about diesels going out is because of the obvious reason of torque, and Karthik mentioned that the Turbo Petrols have it covered these days and I agree to it, but still it comes at the cost of efficiency where in a diesel you never had to spend more for that torque.

Thing that we will miss when diesel cars go out... 1.Good Low End torque with great FE 2.Great highway cruising at good speeds at lower engine revs(diesel engine simply feels effortless at highway speeds) 3.Diesel engines need not be revved out like petrol engines to extract performance.

Superb Guys!! Following Kartik from Autocar days and have always loved the way he review the cars. I’m an existing creta IVT user and it’s a great machine to use in city. Only on few instances you feel the power should have been more otherwise as a daily city car it’s perfect. While the prices of creta and Seltos are same, creta loses on features like Air purifier. Earlier it was present but in this facelift they have removed it whereas Seltos gets it. Also Seltos gets tinted glass whereas creta has regular ones.

Creta sx or elevate zx ? Which one will you pick ?
@sudhakarkanapata71858 ай бұрын
Very different price range?. Creta S(O) and Elevate ZX are similar. if creta comes back with good crash test rating, Creta S(O) definitely. Otherwise, elevate. i am an Elevate ZX CVT owner, btw.

Hey UR - if you are picking manual go for Elevate - The Honda engine will make it more satisfying to drive. For an auto - pick the Creta - it has better sound insulation and so the better experience. Which more than makes up for the slight difference in performance and efficiency.

Never liked Creta much as it never ticked as an aspirational product for me(no offense to the Creta owners, it's personal preference). However, if you ask me, the OG Creta had the best design till date. Kart's take on the CVT was spot on. I was all up against CVT boxes till I drove one, and I was pleasantly surprised. So much so that I ended up getting a car with one. Modern CVT boxes are very well tuned and I believe they are overly criticized from a performance stand point. For the majority of the buyers, it has sufficient performance to keep them entertained on 90% of their use case scenario. The only time you feel that it could have been better is when you go pedal-metal. On congested city roads, it's a joy to use. No hunting of gears, just smooth and linear pickup. So much so that you will love driving the car on city roads. And out on the open highways, if you keep the engine on its power zone, the CVT box can keep you entertained. I did a 1200km road trip on my car recently and it was mad fun. So for those fence-sitters, test drive the NA + CVT engine combo of the car you wish to buy, you will be surprised. For me, I test drove both the Honda City CVT and the Hyundai Creta CVT back to back, and I ended up liking the tuning of the Honda against Hyundai. Not that Hyundai was any bad, but I felt the Honda to be more responsive and lively compared to the almost clinical behavior of Hyundai. The Hyundai is almost close, which should be fine for the majority of the crowd out. As for the video, well, Shumi gets a 11/10 rating for his summary from me, :), and Karti is always at his level best, calm and stoic on his approach. Shumi's glances and the cheesy, cheeky banter always makes me chuckle throughout the length of the video, :). Cheers!!

Wonderful discussion, both of them have brought in a podcast type of discussion through a video is just a treat to watch and listen. Did not know how 45 minutes passed by, i learnt lot about automobiles just by hearing both of them. Whenever a new vehicle arrives, first thing I do is to hear him through this channel called first impressions.
@shantanu_d8 ай бұрын
- Shumi's summary 10/10 especially because he skipped the stuff that wasn't important 👍 - I think the base variant is also important especially because it wouldn't have any ADAS or bling. A clean slate to work on if I may. - That color reminds of a "3D" color option on the Matiz. Looked almost black in shade, greenish with the light directly above it and bluish when viewed from the sides. - The 1.5 NA CVT is definitely ideal for city biased usage. The ownership would be uneventful which could be a plus or minus depending on personal tastes. One of the few channels where duration becomes irrelevant. It has become my best breakfast watch. Good job MotorInc 👍

Thank you! Do you have any thoughts on the reliability of the DCT in Indian climate/traffic/etc. conditions?
@motorinc8 ай бұрын
Hello! Every technology as it evolves becomes more reliable. We are now seeing new generation DCTs which are better to use presumably more reliable too. Why we don’t worry about it too much is - warranty and EW. We would always recommend it when purchasing these options. It’s an additional. It’s but it locks in many years of peace of mind. Hope that helps.

In my opinion, this is the most lavish car review channel on KZbin. There is this unique calmness in your videos which is truly admirable, it has this soothing effect which I can't explain making the viewing experience even more enjoyable.

Hi. Now since the price is out. Pls suggest for CVT. should we go for S(o) or SX tech. N why u don’t like Adas. And then compare to elevate. Like when I asked u about elevate u asked to wait for creta
@motorinc8 ай бұрын
Hello! If you are looking at the CVT - the default recommendation will be the Creta - it’s got much better sound insulation which makes it much more enjoyable to drive. We would happily skip the tech pack. As for ADAS - right now - it’s not as helpful as it’s made out to be. We would want it to be really helpful in Indian conditions rather be just a gimmick. Finally, it’s your decision - does it fit in your driving conditions. And does it seem worth it. Let us know what you decide! Thanks!

Hi Amit, in the way it feels to drive the Seltos and Creta will be close - but Seltos is just a bit more involving. Also, the cooler cabin experience of the Seltos goes a long way in pushing through balance in its favour. Stock to the 17” rim variants!

One of the main reason we are getting past the love for Diesel is the price difference. In 2013 diesel was about 16/- to 18/- rupees less than a liter of petrol, now it's only about 6/- to 9/- rupees. Given that for almost all of us the highway usage is never more than the city use. It doesn't make much difference.
@motorinc8 ай бұрын
Very much! And the performance+efficiency gap is also narrowing.

The reason I still use a diesel car is the application we have at home. We primarily use our cars to do 1000km road trips and almost never use it in the city. The long tank range and the great fuel efficiency of a diesel at 120kph just makes sense. A turbo petrol might have better performance but I’ve always found them to be very throttle sensitive and NA / NA+hybrid cars aren’t very pleasant at these speeds because of the high rpm. EVs aren’t meant for highway driving either. It’s sad that emissions are killing off these capable mile munchers

I get what you are trying to say with 'N'. For example i20N in uk come with 1.6L engine that can do 0 to 100 6.9 sec while in India they launched i20 N" line" with 1.0L engine & better suspension ,all in all not the proper performance version due to cost concerns.

Any chance someone can help me choose between creta 1.5 turbo with 7 dct and Seltos 1.5 turbo with 7 dct ( same engine-transmission) Strangely i and my dad both felt that Creta had lesser turbo lag, felt a bit lighter and quicker ( revved freely after 1500 rpm) and in seltos it felt a bit heavier and a bit lazy below 2k rpm… Can someone clear my doubt? Is seltos slightly less quick and feels heavier at low rpm?

I eagerly waited for this discussion after Creta's Launch and i really enjoyed listening to you guys, as expected. A few areas i think you could have done more are. 1. Talk about passive safety. Either confirm nothing changed or if you just dont know. For example, some channels are saying there is 50kg weight increased, so this might ace the crash test. Would have been nice to hear from you folks. 2. Prices have been released long back. not sure if you guys shot this long back. if so why? 3. While seltos comparasion makes sense, i wish you compared this a little more with other cars in some key areas atleast. For example, is ride quality and comfort as good or better than vitara/ elevate or poorer?. Is turbo petrol + dct as good as kushaq?. These are the ones that will evenutallu help propspective buyers. I enjoyed this Nonethless. Still i think you can make it even more awesome.
@motorinc8 ай бұрын
Hey Sudhakar! Thanks so much for holding us to a higher standard. We’ll try to tackle this here. 1- Like the Seltos - the chassis has been beefed up. We will have to wait for crash tests to validate the improvement resulting form it if any. 2 - we shoot right after we drive when things are fresh. So we will discuss price and value in other videos. Do stay tuned. 3 - We would have loved to compare with its rivals but this time Kartikeya refrained because the road and driving conditions weren’t varied enough to really draw in depth comparisons. We wouldn’t want to talk out of our hats. We will compare once we get to drive the Creta for longer in more “normal” conditions. Like with the cabin experience and comfort we discussed rivals where possible. Hope that makes sense.
@motorinc8 ай бұрын
Also - As for the turbo-dct combination - like we said in the First - the Hyundai combo is better than the VW combo. Period. Do check that out.

I love my diesel Aspire TDCi and sad to see there are very few options left in market. If Taigun had a diesel I would have upgraded today. With my bs4 I don't have headache of DPF or DEF and I drive a lot so turbo petrol might get close to diesel in performance but not in Fuel economy. And there's no match for the low end torque and the engine sound❤
