I think its clear that TATA Motors is clearly focusing on EVs for the future. With CAFE 3 and BS7 just lurking around the corner, they don't feel investing anymore on their existing ICE powertrains especially diesel. They will just do minor upgrades and play the pricing game in ICE to keep the ship floating till another 2-3 years. Its actually good for Indian consumers. It makes a lot of sense because Indian consumers already have good ICE options in non TATA brands as you guys mentioned. So, TATA committing in EVs is just giving Indian consumers more options to the already existing. I hope you guys appreciate this is not a small commitment, creating EV supply chains like captive battery manufacturing (which they will soon with Agratas) they will be able to bring down the EVs cost further. With TATA Power they are already in process of creating DC fast charging network. These are humongous commitments. Their latest launch in TATA NExon 45kwh (prismatic cells) at 15 lakh on road price will have a realistic range of 350 KMs. That's a HUGE step! Which other car manufacturer in India is doing that? Even Mahindra doesn't have a small segment EV in their upcoming BE platform. Having said that they do need to fix their fit/finish quality, improve ergonomics, etc. Just bashing TATA Motors is as if they are doing nothing is not fair in my opinion. Unlike others they have taken a more difficult path on transitioning into a Electric first car company for the masses. That's exactly what India consumers needed then having another great 4 cylinder ICE powertrain!

To Kartikeya's request on what to look for in future Tata reviews (this applies to all manufacturers for me): Updated insight into the company's manufacturing focus (performance/power/luxury/efficiency etc.), the kind of consumers they are trying to appeal to (or if they are confused/clueless) and service culture of the manufacturer. This would allow me to avoid manufacturers that clearly don't have my interests in mind with their product strategy(ies). Examples below: Tata's example: The company normalizes the existence of defects in it's products and refuses to acknowledge that a product can be near flawless. Maruti Suzuki's example: When a division head was asked about the power concerns of the new smaller engine in the Swift and if it would be addressed with the upcoming hybrid powertrain, their ignorant response was to the effect of "we give the best mileage".

13:14 your comment about India not having a coffee culture... The truth is, what the Tata representative might've implied is that," india doesnt have a drinking coffee while driving culture".. And that is true.. Neither me nor anyone in my family or my friends drive and drink coffee, especially not from a coffee cup in a car's centre console.. With our roads filled with potholes and speed breakers, i doubt a coffee cup will stand stable in any cup holder without spilling it's contents onto the center console. At max, we drink juice or water from a water bottle, or even coffee for that matter, from a thermos. I say this as a 1990s kid, having driven multiple cars for a better part of 14 years, on highways, City conditions, intercity, intracity, inter-state etc etc.. Maybe the Tata rep's wording of the statement may not have been correct, but what they implied holds true... PS: apart from that, i agree with you on everything... Enjoyed the video🎉❤

I think the Tata's research on cupholders seems to be logical somewhere. Cupholders are an outcome of the American Drive Thru culture where you pick up your coffee from your car and drink it from your car. In my 18 years of driving, the only time I've used the cupholders on my car was twice. And both times I was doing solo Pune- Bangalore runs and used it to keep some RedBull handy. But then I don't have much of an experience of the NCR "car-o-bar" culture. So not sure if cupholders on car make a difference. A lot of other cars in India which have them are also sold in international markets, so it could be ideal to have them. But Tata is selling its passenger vehicles only in India. So not sure if it is making a difference.

I don’t drink coffee, but I always prefer keeping my water bottles in the cup holders because it’s easier to access than the door pockets. Not to mention it’s a convenient spot to drop your phone/wallet/keys as well. The reasoning that coffee culture doesn’t exist so we don’t need cup holders is a clear coverup. They needed to add the wireless charger and they didn’t give it enough thought before hand. So the cheapest and laziest way to fix that was to replace the cup holders with the wireless charger. If they were truly of the mindset that they don’t need cup holders, why do the lower trim cars offer them?

Feedback on the reviews: I kept hearing the comparisons to Nexon in most details. For people who have no idea how Nexon or any TATA products feel and drive, can you also make comparisons to other OEMs. So people familiar or not familiar with TATA portfolio can understand the nuances in differences. Also one more thing, maybe this is just a me thing but I was completely confused with the architecture and platform bit and also between the Revotron and GDI engine, couldn't understand what was better or worse. It could sound repetitive for regular watchers, Little more context would be nice.

And am seeing few / less industry experts talk on it.

Their own 2 segment lower Punch and even the Altroz have both wireless Charger and Cup holders😅😅 and I dont know how Tata representative could give that statement😌😌the reason is just Curvv being the older car that was launched back in 2017.. And also, I saw an interview with the designer head(UK) where he was talking about how they didnt compromise on the rear seat,the head room, the knee room etc and all the bells and whistles that didnt transform to the real product..

I am still in the stage of saving money, but would love a First on the Magnite Facelift. I had taken the first gen for a few test drives, and since I owned the first gen Figo compared to that didn't enjoy the clutch, steering and in some scenarios magnite didn't feel planted enough. I did enjoy quite a few bits of it though, would love to see if there are any tweaks there.

Calling this car a "Lifestyle" vehicle is equal to calling Sunny Leone a virgin! I may sound harsh but it a fact! I watched this episode as privilaged follower, as a huge fan of both Karthikeya & Shumi & nothing else. Discussing about Karthikeya's time in Goa would be more interesting than talking about this thing. I've lost all my interest in Tata. Those who were blind followers of Tata saying "We need support Tata as default as they are an Indian company" need to watch is episode. Knowing about what's to come next on MotorInc excites me more than celebrating my birthday! Also, we need Nissan Magnite facelift first impression episode!!😊❤

I have a punch EV which was so drastic from the regular punch and i enjoy what TATA have done with it.. Cant see the same difference between the Curvv ICE and EV. Also, I feel the cabin experience is better in the Punch than the Curvv, feels more organic. I would also stretch my neck out and say that the Punch EV is the best car Tata manufactures.
@motorinc3 ай бұрын
That’s a great argument you make there. The Punch is probably their best product.

Damn I thought I was the only one noticing those connected lights I think on the Nexon EV ; they don't look like a connected one - something like a dilated pixel effect. Yk off late I have been noticing the harrier dark edition and it looks stunning at least from the front profile but I can't accept shelling a min of 25 lakhs on that when I can get a XUV700 which is far more competent and practical with the 7 seats and all fir a lower rate. I would also want to know the difference between fun to drive & sporty coz like today I was on an empty road and on a sort of banking, I took it at 75ish and the car (XUv700) was stable and sort of encouraging me to push further ; don't get that in the creta where off late even for an overtake, I need to downshift a gear (manual) and then try to get it with the higher revs. The Curve looks fantastic and we were thinking to upgrade. Again Creta isn't on the table coz we're getting many issues with the car. SO steering lock suddenly in traffic, gear locking when shifting to second, car is vibrating like crazy in 1st in traffic so not going back to Hyundai and Kia. Thar 5 door is good but with the crazy number of bookings, I am sure i’ll never get the machine. Plus like driving a big car can be tedious overtime and PARKING in MUMBAI. Tata was on the table but Idk now. See electrical failures is no new thing. I think an hour or 2 back Gautam Singhania tweeted about his stranded Lamborghini Reveulto on Atal Setu due to electrical failure and other units of the car have also reported the same. XUV early days also threw some errors and Ig now its part and parcel of the experience with these enormous screens inculcating all features. Like the Cloud EV has headlight controls in the screen 😅. And I am around 193 cms in height ( short trips for maybe 10 KMs max i might use the backseat ). We like the design but I dont want to feel cheated essentially by paying a hefty sum and getting an inferior product. I was reading some reviews who were saying the TCGDI engine and DCA find a good ground by being comfortable to drive and not thrilling performance for a better mileage and that usecase fits my requirement ( being a secondary car ). Will the Curv still be a tough recommendation. Last question : Why have y’all vanished from Apple Podcasts coz that was easier for me to binge while driving. KZbin I gotta keep the screen on and its an extra hassle so if y’all cud come back , it would be great !

How about the material fit and finish .. I own a GV, Fronx and when I stepped in Curvv, I felt GV's interior look dated tbh .. the Curvv's dash look and feel, the gear knob .. I so wish suzuki used such materials .. thoughts ? For example, I just love the range roverish gear knob in the automatic..

Hey J! Absolutely! The materials are so much richer. And the GV needs to step it up on this front for sure!

20:47 reading up on this now, and it's concept is blowing my mind. But it's clearly not effective enough - the Punch Powertrains DT-1 was rated for a torque of up to 200Nm. May be the version manufactured for the Curvv needs more work?

Motorinc has been the prime mover so to speak for my interest in the Magnite. I am sure that is the case for many of us here. So please do review the Magnite and tell us all about it. The part about the rear view mirror falling off while adjusting hits home for me. Yesterday during a rather longish weekend drive in my cousin's Kushaq Monte Carlo (1.0 litre and probably 6 months old) I was trying to adjust the inside rear view mirror. It is of course the fancy-schmancy auto-dimming one so I was a little suspicious when I felt a significant amount of resistance while adjusting it. The vehicle had only been driven by my cousin and it was set to his preference, since the time it left the showroom. I told him about the resistance and he said it is fine. While trying to adjust it again, the mirror fell off its holder and was hilariously hanging by a wire. After 30 mins of attempts and pointless calls to the Skoda reps, my cousin, in one spirited maneuver, fixed it back into place. We did not touch it afterwards. So a straightforward message to car manufacturers. If there are sci-fi like elements trickling into the auto scene and you feel a sense of FOMO (see what I did there guys?) please do not act on it. Please only put stuff in vehicles that you know how to do well. I understand FOMO is real and the market is scary. But in the long run we would value the brand a lot more if it did all the things it has, without a fuss. We can see right through the fussy and cheap tech that y'all put in your vehicles to justify the stratospheric increases in prices for you to maintain your cash-rich or whatever nonsense status you love. Okay sorry about the rant but hey MotorInc makes one think and isn't that just brilliant? Thank you team. Loved the content and excited to be a part of this journey.

Although Tata has taken a huge step when it comes to car design and features, where it really needs to pull up its socks would be Quality of products and Showroom & Service experience. I met an owner of a brand-new Tata Tiago i-CNG today and after driving 3600km he was already disappointed with a lot of quality issues and dreaded the thought of going to the service center. He even informed that the experience during delivery was horrible as he was earlier quoted Rs.5.60 lac, but at time of delivery they bumped it by 10k, due a calculation error they did, he also got delivery of his car at 11pm, rather than the promised 1pm.
