Near impossible to get a motorised bike road legal here so I did the next best thing and bought an old 70s moped. I gotta say bobbing along on a little 50 is one of the most relaxing forms of transport on the planet

Great review and ride.TY.I've broken myself too badly to use 'straight'handlebars and took one from a 'throwaway' 20" moto-cross style.I have to set upright,like your bike here allows.I had to 'carefully'stretch open the bolt/slot area and slide the crossbar through but I've been happy with my choice.Happy Trails.

I just managed to get a 49cc 4 stroke to fit into my Kent Bayside recently- modifications include 4 holes drilled into the solid cast adjustable plates on the mount (this allows you to actually adjust the engine for chain alignment) and a bent choke lever, but other than that it runs fine! Waiting to get free time to adjust the alignment and I'll write how it went (maybe even a video?) Great vids, been bingeing them for the past week or so.

I actually very recently overhauled my whole rig which was in the works anyway, I had a new iron sleeved cylinder and a 4Reed setup to try out, but got pushed to the fore due to water getting into the gas! When I split the cases to replace bearings, the bottom had a good deal of water in it due to having been run a little bit before it just stopped. I don't know how much water you may have gotten in your system, but it may be wise to consider the fact that it wont go anywhere once it's down in the crankcase unless you get it out of there. I think it actually may have cleaned things up a bit during the short period it ran tho!

I've got a Hyper Commute with a BT80 on it, rides great. Its got a little bit of a floaty like ride to it, but that's an aluminum frame for you. So far only thing I can say bad about it is the stock brake pads didn't last a week, lol. But I replaced them with better quality pads. Love the electric start, and I added a 12 volt led headlight.

My first motorized bike was a KENT Bayside in 2016. It only cost $99.00 from Walmart (back then). The only flaw I came across was the small spokes. Which you had to constantly insuring they are trued. To overcome this, I switched to some after market heavy duty rims. Oh yeah, the rear brake caliper snapped on me after a hard stop. It actually jerked the entire set-up forward as it gripped the rim. I would add a disk brake adapter kit to the front forks. It takes less than an hour to install. 30 minutes if you're mechanically inclined...lol

I love my Kent Bayside. In fact I recommend it on one of your videos about choosing a frame anojt a year ago. I frequent dirt roads with plenty of bumps and it takes a pounding for a cruise frame. I was quite safe to see they more than doubled in price in the past year to $300ish from the $150 they sold for in 2019. Only thing I changed was upgrading to a suspension fork a month ago. I also recommend adding an offset seat post for comfort and style. Also a dio reed fits perfectly for a tight frame if you add a 90 degree barb fitting face ring towards the front. Which looks better and is in a more comfortable spot than the 45 towards the back anyway. Ps. The stats have just enough clearance for a disc brake set up as well.which is nice as hell. The front caliper is grayish, but the back caliper is pure garbage even for a non motor bike.

I have a few questions if you don't mind. I have a Huffy cruiser and wanting to put front fork suspension on it, what size would I need? I'm assuming it's the same as a Kent Bayside, even if not can you tell me what forks you got for yours? And also.... I have a mountain bike frame that seems a bit tight as far as putting on a motor goes..... I also have a DIO reed setup and hoping it might just squeezed in, but what is that 90 degree barb fitting you are talking about?
@rockyrococo2584
@rockyrococo2584 2 жыл бұрын
@@tonykartracer8032 almost certain your huffy has a 1 inch headset. If it has a threaded stem and quill it's a 1 inch headset. I never seen a Huffy that isn't. The barb fitting I am talking about is for flexible black pipe. It's used for water pumps and water systems. The barb fittings are what you use to join the flexible plastic black pipe with hose clamps. If you need elbow or 45 degree the size fitting you want is 1 1/4 inch fittings. Just go to any hardware store in the plumbing sections and tell them you are looking for flexible black pipe barb fittings 1 1/4 inch. They'll know exactly what you mean. They fit perfectly with the rubber fittings that come with the dio set up. You just want to trim them down with a hacksaw down to the one or two barbs.

It is comfortable, but definitely heavy. She's gettin a zeda, 48t sadly, the cup holder mount on mine broke off :( i first thought a cupholder on a bike was stupid but it was actually kinda convenient at times. I used to pedal to the laundry at my trailer park and pick up cans of coke at the vending machine there. less of a problem now though since I have the basket on the back.

Suspension seat post with that seat works even better,, Amazon 30 bucks Use the Ebike grade inner tubes, they are heavier on the tire side of the tube. You can buy the catilever brakes like you have with the adjusters built in, or if you are a scavenger, older 70's- 80's bikes had them if you find an abandoned one in your travels pull them off, everything can be cleaned up and lubed to work

I was beating mine up on a trail bike, and it out lasted the bike before I had to rebuild the motor. So basic street use should last for years if treated well.

What is your average comfort zone for the engine cruise speed ? And also which brand is top quality ? On trails about 15mph, 25 on street. The Seeutek pk80 has been the most trouble free motor I have owned. But with China motors everything is a lottery. I advise against putting dirt bike/motorcycle motors on any bike frame unless you absolutely know what you are getting yourself into.

Its a crap shoot . You can have two identical engines side by side brand new back to back off of the assembly line and they're going to have different problems. I got as little as 1000 miles from my worst engine and 3000 plus miles on my best . Top ends are not very expensive and once you learn torque specs and get a few proper tools things get simple . It's fun if you enjoy tinkering . These bikes are like gumbo . No two bowls are the same
