Love my 23 Si! Sold my coyote mustang and moved to this due to having a new baby. Blast to drive, great on gas, fits the whole family and late night solo canyon runs are where this car shines. The handling is amazing. I never thought I’d own a FWD car, but the lsd makes up for it and it’s such a practical, yet amazing daily.

Civic Si as it comes with 200hp is not much faster than the regular civic. But it feels like it has more soul, you get the manual transmission, sport seats, and with an intake, a tune, and lowered, it’s defintely a fun and peppy car

Toyota 86 is just 20 more horsepower for the brand new models. I think in this range, for the average driver, 200hp is enough. You really have to push these cars to get that, and thats just more fun. A little more horsepower would be welcomed of course, but I honestly dont care. Its a fun drive. Not to mention I am getting 37mph in my Civic SI and my friend gets 26 in his 86. The 20 horsepower gain, when we both hit 60 at about the same exact time (hes like 0.2 seconds faster), for a loss of 11mpg, is just not worth imo. Can also resell a Honda for barely under what you bought it for, which is something few cars can say. You are almost renting the car for free with how well it holds its value, which means more money for new models down the line.

Civic Si has always been a brilliant drive, when the base Civic already have a great architecture. I would probably pick between Civic Sport or an Integra, given I am a huge hatchback fans. If only Si is available as a hatchback, as its forebears did back in the 80s and 90s.

Honda obviously, deliberately, made the Si a sedan and the Integra a hatchback to push buyers wanting more utility to move up to the much-more-costly Integra. It's infuriating, but... that's business.

Great review guys.. I've had this car for a year and a half and its a blast. I also owned the 2020. You have to rev this on to almost red line to really enjoy it. The last model, the turbo peeked sooner which made it pull harder, but run out of steam faster. The new model, keeps on pulling and once you pass 5000rpm it really pulls hard like the old Vtec Si's!!!

Good point about the manual transmission. Honda clutches do feel a bit spongy when it hooks up and the hookup point is a bit high in the pedal travel. I like the hookup point on the MX5 but I think the Honda shifter is better. It’s crisper, more of a well oiled rifle bolt. For comparison, they are much better than BMW shifters, which tend to be rubbery and isolated. I had an 07 STI, I hated that shifter feel. It was the only time I’ve had missed shifts (2nd to 3rd but goes into 5, 5 into 4th but goes into 2nd (dangerous)). It was vague with long throws. I ripped the whole linkage out and replaced it with a Kartboy linkage, 60% shorter throws with hardened poly bushings. The best OEM shifter I ever experienced was an 04 Acura RSX type S. It was just like a smooth rifle bolt with literally 1 inch throws!

From a long-time Honda owner in the states, I bought a used 2019 10th gen SI last year and love the car and its features. Thank you both for this car review!!! I was thinking about eventually trading for a new 11th gen SI, but it seems like right now the American version of the car is cheaper on content and features versus the Canadian version. Maybe because the car is built in Alliston Ontario??? Hopefully Honda will add more features to the mid-cycle refresh SI in a couple of years. Untill then I plan to keep my 10th gen SI.

With Honda and the dealer mark ups and crap that is going on now the Elantra Nline is a much better value since most people dont keep their cars longer than 4 years now. Honda is losing market share because of their new production and marketing policies.

I didn't want a manual, so I bought a 23 Integra with the A Spec trim and CVT. It a very enjoyable vehicle to drive and I'm averaging 38 MPG in mixed driving. However, in my opinion the suspension is very firm even in the softest comfort mode and the road noise inside the cabin is way too high for a car this expensive.

Yes yes yes, this review is spot on. Test drive both back to back and you will pick the 23’ SI. I did. Quality is night and day. Nice sporty stiff suspension on the SI vs the bouncy WRX with tons of body roll. Everyone says this is the best car to learn how to drive manual and I hear people saying they drove the car off the dealer lot without a clue how to drive stick. But when I went to Surrey Honda a few weeks ago to potentially test drive the civic si, they were reluctant to let me drive it because I have no experience with stick and advised that I get some lessons first. I didn't have time for that because the car would've been gone pretty fast by the time I come back to it and I badly needed a car. So I ended up going with a hatchback sport touring. I'm loving it with no regrets, but I definitely wish I had the manual civic si with more hp

I'm in the market for a new car and as a current Mazda3 owner I'm probably going with the Mazda3 Premium hatch with the manual. That being said, I've heard so many positive comments about the Si's handling that I just feel compelled to give it a test drive. It's just hard for me to get past the 1.5-liter turbo engine with its history of oil dilution, recommendation for premium fuel which is at least $1 USD more per gallon where I live, and uninspiring sound. If the Si had an old-school DOHC VTEC engine that revved to 8000+ rpm, that would be a huge selling point for me. Even the 2.4 in the 9th gen Si/ILX would be cool.

A quick question. Between this and the GLI, which did you prefer, and against even a type R, day to day, city driving, commuting, highway, not tracking, not on country roads other than the odd time, did you ever find you wanted more HP. I just find that personally, 400hp is great, but unless you risk your or other lives, or you go to track days, you probably only really use 200hp. Lastly between this and the GLI, which do you prefer? Thanks and keep up the great videos.

While they’re not super comparable, I was looking at the Civic and Elantra N and I couldn’t stand the feature disparity between the US and CAD models of the Si. Regarding "rev-hang," the thing to consider is that if you ignore it, and simply ram the shifter into the next higher gear (like most auto reviewers do) without waiting for the revs to drop, you'll end up destroying the transmission's gear synchros. And that is expensive to fix. Regarding Honda not offering a DCT for either this Si or the Integra, it would have to be a lot more expensive than their CVT, and that's likely the primary factor in their decision. Everyone: "If only Soichiro Honda were still running the company..."

At least you can easily replace the tires, most stock tires are pretty bad.

I'm not sure changing tires will cure the road noise issue as Honda's are known for that.

@@iana36s I still miss a proper handbrake. One of my proudest moments was parallel parking my Si on a steep hill in Seattle without stalling.

I have everything from Audi to Jeep to mustang to WRX. This car has everything albeit a manual E brake. Call me old school but I hate the electronic version. sometimes you just want something to yank on. Your wife is a smoke 💨 show 🔥 btw. Good review

Im not sure a manual-only model makes sense anymore in 2023 and it's not like they didn't already develop the CVT for this engine.

I am pretty sure a Hondata or Ktuner tune will get rid of rev hang. Can someone confirm? Tough call between this, the GLI, and GTI S. Historically the Si is more long term reliable. I’ve heard they have had some issues with these engines though. VW definitely has their share of engine issues as well. Si has the far better interior design though.

For that price Id rather go for the Audi S3 quattro. 200hp on a 1.5l turbo is garbage for 30k.

Knowing the content they have in the Canadian version I could never buy this in the U.S. They completely nerfed it and then nerfed it again for the Integra.

this needs more power. at least 230-240hp closer to a gti. the power difference between the SI and Type R is way to much. 20hp more than a base model isnt enough. Good looking car though.

All Honda needs to do is to make an SI hatch, and I’d easily take it over a GTI, which has a horrible interior. For those that say there’s a cannibalizaton risk with Integra, Honda wasn’t thinking that when they made both the CTR and Integra Type S hatchbacks
