Best explanation ever with Indian scenario as the basis and examples. I have Benz with 7G-DCT gearbox. Its quick and seamless. However, recently I bought Kwid AMT (not knowing there are variations in automatics), and was quite surprised that AMT performance is very rough, and on a silent road you can actually hear the sound of gear changing. Nevertheless, can't compare 6lac with the 50lac car. But it does the job well. After watching your video I have some "feel good" factor for AMT gearbox which has been largely criticized everywhere else.

@@BoysandMen9 no bro no loss of power during driving you get 2 modes in it 1 is normal city mode which has some less power and great mileage another is sports mode which is full of power when you power just press S button and car roars and power gains more rpm .Whenever i feel overtaking i press S mode and easily move ahead.

I have driven amt, dsg n cvt from celerio, polo, laura and honda city. According to my experience i can feel the gear shift in both amt and cvt which puts you offf. But in dsg you will never feel the gear shift and also i am getting better mileage with dsg when compared to manual, amt and cvt. Yes dsg is costly n risky but drive ka maza is totally awesome.

Its about the control that you get in Manual which cannot be compensated by an automatic and more importantly manual gives you better fuel mileage which is money saved and finally ultimate cost of sale is also less... Manual is always more reliable, having better drive quality and gives you the feel of driving an automobile to the highest level

@chakraborty001 see brother it’s more of a personal choice economically speaking India is and always will be a price sensitive market and we basically thrive upon the cost benefit analysis factors which have an upper hand with factors while you consider manual transmission because 1) better mileage and drive traction control 2) personal choice of drivers obviously ask any seasoned car lover he would always prefer to drive a manual rather than automatic 3) better control and manual transmission gives you the best drive quality in highways and mountain twistees as control is totally in your hands Ps I have driven both automatic and manual and then only I have made this analysis let’s not fight it’s just my point of view

No, although the concept is similar but they are not same. Scooties use something called cetrifugal gearbox. Read on it, very interesting yet simple technology.

Cvt contains peddal shifters like in honda amaze. Rather than using gear pad , you can switch gears directly from steering where pedal shifters are located just below it.

Amt is good also in hilly areas.. Only while youre parking your car on an uphill or downhill u have to use handbrake..

Yes AMT is good and a Torque Converter is good too... anything but a CVT will be good...The variable gearing ratios of the CVT are not good for hills...The system is just not intelligent enough to understand what to do in hilly areas....

This does not mean that you should not opt for a CVT....the CVT will just find it difficult to manage the hilly terrain but it will do it nonetheless.... But If you live in a hilly area and if you have other transmission options then avoid the CVT

it is a type of automatic transmisson which is used in suv and mpv maximum and it is known as torque converter . it is easy to drive in cities and mileage is also not bad at all . it is better than amt but not better than cvt and dsg/dct gearboxes . now the torque converter are coming 6/7/8 speed which will provide you way better performance than manual and in tiptronic the performance doubles or in sport mode . manual gearbox has 6 gears maximum than other automatic transmission . dsg /dct mostly comes with turbo petrol engines like hector seltos venue and new creta which provides better acceleration and performance . cvt gearbox is not better in terms of accleration but it provides mix combination of mileage and performance .

@@amanrastogi6640 but they are very expensive cars . i am talking about cheaper cars such as hector seltos creta venue etc which are cheaper than audi/bmw/mercedes benz so diesel engine is expensive than petrol in bs6 upgrade and if they are equipped with dct/dsg so they will cost you around 21-22 lakh on road which is much higher than innova gx manual
