Motorola MicroTAC International 5200 GSM Brick phone Unboxing

This is a Microtac international 5200 in it's original form - not the grey digiflip version like in the other video. These were released mid 90's and operate on GSM900 so can still be used today anywhere where there is still a GSM 900 cellular network.

How on Earth did you manage to get a boxed Motorola 5200 for €3. I'm going through the ads on ebay an the prices are crazy. £80 for a Motorola 7200 and the MR1.

@@vladimirtodoroski It was actually a used one, but the owner also still had the box of it. But the owner said to me that the battery didn't work anymore. (Probably the reason why I got it so cheap). And it was also in nice condition! And when I tested the phone, the battery still seamed to work for a bit (atleast the phone can stay on on it for a short time).

9:57 in Poland i had Samsung B2100 and it supported this feature. Channel 050 was showing location, but there were many other channels. After this phone I had at primary android LG L3, and it too had this feature, other phones supported it but it was hidden in options very well, and sometimes don't work very well, like sending me notflication with sound every 20 seconds.... Now i have POCO F1 with android 8.1 and i cannot find and make this feature work. I read that it works only in 2g, so even if it is somewhere i do not wanna to use 2g:D

Could you, please, recommend a site or a store where it's possible to buy a new battery? I'm using Microtac 5200 and I have an old NiMH battery, but I'd like to order something newer. Thanks!

There is nowhere that sells these microtac batteries unfortunately....that is why I pay such a premium for working rebuilt batteries. the 5200 especially (out of the 5200,7200 and 7500) is the most power hungry out of all the 3 models. The only option is to either have a battery reconnditioned with new rechargeable cells....so technically you are having a new bespoke custom battery built for you or at a push I might be able to sell you a high power lithium one for what they cost me. email me directly if you're interested on the usual email address....brickcellphones at gmail.

Hi, i have recently bought a motorola 5200 and it won’t work (it shuts off the moment it connects with the operator) with my TIM sim but it will work on wind sim. What can i do?😐

Hey man! I just bought a Motorola Micro TAC 5200 International from an old taxi driver here in Norway. Got two original batteries (1 holds a charge without the charger) and the original charger with it too. However, I need an old SIM-card, or could I use an old SIM-card and just make a makeshift card with that SIM? It requires like a big card to insert into the slot. Do you have an E-mail adress? +Olli Jokinen Thanks. Not it's not....it's 3 7710's in cases....that snuk into the shot!! Found them amongst a box of nokia several 7700's which are about the rarest nokia phone you can get.

Well possibly. But I know two people that have mobira senetors in their collections...and both of those elite collectors don't own a 7700 - apparently there is only about 25 worldwide....it never made it to production. All of mine are prototypes.

Hi! I have one of this phone. But if I turn it on and get service the phone restart instantly. I tried with different SIM cards, same... Do you have any idea what's wrong? :/

YES! You are using a NiCd or a NiMh battery which is weak. use a different more powerful battery and it will stay on. when the phone first switch on and connect to network it uses the most power. if the battery is weak then it will switch off just half a second after it pick up signal. try to switch it on with charger plugged in. it will stay on.

Hi! Sorry for the very late answer.... I am trying to power on the phone with a lab bench power supply, so it should be working, but it wont. If I enter the PIN, after a few seconds it restarts. Seems like the radio module is corrupted. Any idea?

I would like to ask, how can i get a motorola microtac 7500 to enter to test mode. the midle pin which is not contacting with the battery, does nothing as it is already grounded with the ground (-) pin.

It depends what you are trying to do....You can connect a dongle to the bottom of the phone to get it into test mode or you can use a SIM like I do. I wouldn't use the paperclip trick to connect the middle pin. if you do it wrong the phone gets damaged.

Yes. the paper clip does not work anyway. Movistar has probably disable it, so that no one can get access to the test mode and do changes.

I'm not sure if the paperclip thing works on a 7500. I've never tried it. I know it works on some of the analog models and the motorola 6200 flare. Don't know about the 7500 though.

Hmm, yes. For the Motorola 7500 the middle pin is connected with the ground so it is ground itself, Probably the analogue microtacs has the middle pin no grounded for the test menu to function.
