thanks. If I could I would have my own cellular network nationwide with this old technology......but the government don't hand out licenses for that sort of thing to just anybody!!! thanks for your support.

I bought a Motorola Special edition 3 a while ago off of eBay, the battery pack was toast, however I do have the cigarette lighter charger, and It still functions, so I plug the phone in (with no battery) and I do get a red light on the side, but the screen will not turn on at all. Any tips?

I actually have 2 very rare Cadillac Phones with OnStar integrated, as well as a mobile data port built into the cradle. you could actually plug a laptop into it for analog, yes mobilr analog dial-up internet service.

Hello sir, I enjoy your videos a lot! I have 13 Motorola Ultra Classic 2's (Model: 89004NACBA) and all 13 of them have the same reprogrammed number but I cannot type any numbers onto the LED display on any of them. Functions work but no numbers will display on the screen. Any suggestions? :)
@BrickCellphones7 жыл бұрын
Hi Cameron, You have a dozen of these and they all have the same problem? no number display on the screen when you type on the keypad? which version is it? the LED or the LCD? That does seem a little strange. what is the history of the handsets? Do you have the programming guide for these?
@CameronCobb7 жыл бұрын
That is correct, this problem is on all 13 of the phones. No numbers will display when typing but functions will work. For example, I can press FCN + 4 to display the battery meter and RCL + # to show its programmed number but pressing any number will not display on the screen. The phones have a green 7 segmented LED display. I do not know the history of the handsets other than I bought the handsets off of eBay about 1 week ago and unfortunately I do not have the programming guide for this kind of phone :(. What is really odd is that pressing RCL will display a 1-800 number that is the same on all of the phones. If you are interested, I can send you a video or upload one onto KZbin of the phones.

Update: I with further research I actually figured out the problem. The phones actually had unrestricted dialing on and I had to turn it off by pressing FCN + 0 + 6-digit security code (factory default security code is 000000) + 4 + Sto + Snd. Quite a process but it worked! Anyways, thank you very much :) I greatly appreciate your reply.

Ah thats great news. You mean RESTRICTED dialing ON....not UNrestricted dialing!!! Thank you for sharing the code you used to change the setting. Are any of your ones for sale if you have so many? what country are you in? email me directly on the usual brickcellphones email address.

Ah yes, that is what I meant, my bad. And yes, I will be selling all 13 of them sometime within the next few weeks after I clean them all up and repack their batteries with new Ni-Cad batteries. I currently refurbish vintage telephones, mostly the Motorola bricks, as a source of income. I live in the United States :)

Hey man! I just bought a Motorola Micro TAC 5200 International from an old taxi driver here in Norway. Got two original batteries (1 holds a charge without the charger) and the original charger with it too. However, I need an old SIM-card, or could I use an old SIM-card and just make a makeshift card with that SIM? It requires like a big card to insert into the slot. Do you have an E-mail adress? Then I could send your some pictures of it and hopefully we could communicate better on this issue, if you want. Regards, Johan

What was the price for one of these it's amazing on how you can get a prepaid for 80$ us it's pretty amazing! I know back then they were like 800 to 900$ is that true
@BrickCellphones7 жыл бұрын
Yeah back then phones were insanely expensive. When the 8000x or 8000s came out they cost about 3 or 4 thousand dollars back then. taking inflation into account that is like almost 20 grand in todays money!
@SYDAirlineEnthusiast5 жыл бұрын
More expensive than how much a new iphone costed from 2009-2011. Less than a thousand 2009-2011 dollars, equivalent to less than two hundred 80s dollars. Nokia Flip phones in 2009 costed only ten bucks in 2009 money, which would be $2.50 in 80s money.

BrickCellphones I remember these from when I worked at my local Ford Dealership in Derby. I recall these phones being sold along side the must have accessories, of the day, such as alloy wheels and Ford approved roof racks, and those red sticker transfers for the back window to tell people you drove, an Escort Orion or a Sierra.

Yeah I guess Ford found out a way to make extra money in all kinds of markets back then.....strange how it never took off. Maybe they were too expensive.
