Motorola Razr+ (Razr 50 Ultra) versus Pixel 8 Pro camera comparison

Time to compare the new camera system on the Motorola Razr+For 2024 (Razr Ultra 50) against the Pixel 8 Pro. The new Moto Razr Plus 2024 doesn't have an ultrawide camera this year, replacing it with a 2x 50MP telephoto camera, which may not be the right choice.

I like the color science on the Razr better than the Pixel. The Razr had better details as well. As a Pixel 8 user, I am shocked at how much Moto has improved. The lack of an ultrawide camera has me on the fence as to whether orvnot the Razr Plus is a buy.

I think by itself, the Razr 50 Ultra's cameras are fine. Comparing it side-by-side against the Pixel 8 Pro, there's some kind yellow/green tint from the Razr's cameras. It's more pronounced during the day, at night it's less obvious though.

Interesting comparison, I was surprised how close the Razr has come, even wins in some shots. Pixel still seems to control facial highlights better in bright daylight stills. Other scenarios it was often a tossup, back and forth, or a personal preference between the two. If I had to pick only one, I'd still go Pixel. But I wouldn't fear any major disappointments if I was out carrying the Razr. And i like the idea of a small profile pocket phone to carry around. Google should have kept their camera wizard Marc Levoy around, looks like other brands are catching up or equaling the former Pixel dominance. Thanks for the useful comparison

I'd buy the 50+, but for me not having ultra-wide camera is a bummer. Especially if you live in a place like Manhattan or any other city where the streets are narrow and you really want that ultra wide image. Appreciate that ultra-wide vs non ultra-wide in Times Square and, definitely, not having it sucks.

I'm surprised by how well the razr's colour science kept up. The stills weren't as poppy as the pixel, but that's a personal preference. And the video frames were very smooth and clear before cropping. It will only get better with updates.

Glad they've smoothed out the motion on the Moto video now compared to last year's. It is disappointing they went with a 2x zoom over an ultra-wide though

I'm in shock. Motorola razr's camera is almost better than Pixel! Guys come on! This is a flip phone! The colors, clarity, even details down to eye color were amazing!

Motorola could have done 50MP main with 2x crop and then 50MP 3x with 6x crop. That would’ve been more useful.

Im surprised how well the Razr did. Very impressive this time around. I did however notice the pixle did a much better job with keeping movement from blurring with still photos. Also the night video in 2x on the Moto was blurry and jittery. Still a compelling offering. We shall see how the Flip 6 compares.

Overall quality of the phone is great. But when it comes to shooting video. It's very laggy. You can tell the video is not smooth. Samsung wins. I have the flip 5 and the 4K video is extremely smooth. No lags at all. If you don't care about shooting videos , go for it. I think this one is very solid. Beautiful design. First I thought I was going to get it but just the video thing bothers me. I will get the flip 6 this time.

Since no more LG Smartphone .. I possibly will get a Pixel after my LG V60 Die .. Having a external memory slot is very important to me .. LG V20 Started Wide Angle Camera I think ..

Moto video feels stuttery to me. Image quality is obviously not going to be as good as Pixel, but I'm bummed out by the side-by-side. Would by the Razr in a second if the cameras were better, but that's a show stopper for me.

Yeah, Pixel is still the champ here. I rather adjust colors after the fact than have it pop in every picture. Its not natural.

No my friend, the Pixel's selfie camera is not good, it tends to always give you a tan. Moto surpassed the Pixel in several situations. We must keep in mind that it competes with the best camera on the market.

RAZR Ultra would have won photos easily if he had used AI enhanced ON. As now the colors didn't pop enouh. Almost a useless comparison therefore in my opinion.
