Not a Capri & never will be (says the man whom also had a REAL capri "running a 2.9 cossie unit....what a beast, died of the dreaded rust". Why didn't ford make a electric coupe which they could have called a "CaprE" that i think we could have liked "classic looks, but friendly to all the woodland critters". This is a more of a modern Cortina or "CortEna" in my opinion.

SUV’s are in more demand than anything else. Simple facts. Capri is just a name so no need to act like a child over it.

Oh dear. SUV's are NOT in much more demand, it is merely that, that is pretty much all manufacturers make these days so the style choice has narrowed drastically.

What an entertaining, if somewhat damning review of the new "Capri!" I must admit, though, that I probably missed out on some of the details, thanks to your very funny & extremely clever son...(a real "petrol head!) He'll, no doubt, be a future car reviewer, if he continues to have an interest in cars!!

Not really fair to say that the 358 bhp Mach-E was more exciting to drive than the 282 BHP Capri on test. You surely would need to drive the 358 version Capri to do a fair comparison?

@richardzx9 If it was available, I would, but it wasnt just about the acceleration. The feel of it was just alright, felt more SUV than car, the MachE (not a Mustang) felt more car like and fun.

Performance figures for this thing match pretty much to my 78BHP Ford Capri 1.6 GL I once owned. It could easily do just over 100 mph. The new 'Capri' is slow due to poor power to weight ratio. EVs are simply rubbish!

You would have thought you have never been in a modern car , where have you been for the last 10 years . The word assist is there it’s to assist you , not to take over completely . You prattle on and on you would have thought you have never driven a modern elec car before almost giving the impression the capri is the only car that has this assisted control . moan moan moan i know its not the prettiest car in the world but i know what i rather going on long car journey in, from memory the old Capri was low down, basterd to park with its long bonnet, its a shame Ford designers could not come up with a bit more flare with the design concept, but played it safe and saved money by using VW battery platform, and its a but dull to look at.

The point is, it is just like every other modern car, electric and an SUV...yawn yawn. Nobody makes anything cool anymore...and I know people say "That's cos people don't buy them." Well there is 1 very good reason why people don't by them, because the whole agenda is to push electric...but why are hybrids so bad? Also, why only SUV's? People only buy them because there is no other option. Every new 'design' (photocopy) is the same.

@@motorsforthemasses Because this is a commuter car, these cars are not targeting car enthusiasts, they are for people driving to work, doing some shopping and driving the kids to school or soccer (or whatever hobby) and taking the family on a trip a few times a year. These cars make ideal company cars, perfect for leasing. And yes SUV's are popular in that segment - spacious, good for almost all purposes, can easily fit the kids in the backseat and a bunch of suitcases in the trunk but doesn't look like a minivan. For these purposes the car doesn't have to be fun - it has to be comfortable and stress free to drive. Should it have been called Capri ? Probably not, maybe Orion or Mondeo would have been better but then again it wouldn't have gotten this much attention and people in marketing still think that any publicity is good publicity. And on the hybrid remark, very simply : lots of hybrid company car drivers simply didn't charge the car, just mostly drive on fuel, why bother charging a battery that maybe is just enough to take you to work and takes longer to charge to full than a BEV.
