I'm a college student and rented a Mach-E out for the day to do some errands with a friend. The center infotainment display completely turned off in the middle of my trip. It would be blank and not let me do anything besides register tap sounds. I tried restarting and other troubleshooting tips to no avail. It was one of the most scary and eye-opening experiences for not having physical buttons in a car and being so reliant on a display for essential car functions.

As a new yorker, any ev without a heat pump is a paperweight 60% of the year. Its a slight modification to the air conditioning system to run it in reverse, that's it. No separate assembly is needed, its not like it takes up more space under the hood, it cost them like probably 20 dollars a car, and it would double their sales in cold climates. Any automaker making an EV without a heat pump that has AC should be barred from the US over energy consumption concerns. Resistive heating elements absolutely guzzle electricity. My old ioniq used to go from 220 miles to 120 miles when the heater was on, it was crazy how much power the heat used.

EVs are so tech-heavy that leases seem to be the best way to go. Depreciation of all but the most utilitarian vehicles is in flux, and I see a lease as a way to guarantee the parameters of the deal. Even though I do not trade cars every 2-3 years (my vehicles are 9 and 29 years old) and I've never leased in my life, I'm trying to learn as much about leases as possible. In 3 years, the technology in most EVs is going to be very outmoded. Will it work? Sure. But the pace of advancements means that things will be MUCH different than they are today. So that means that making a lease deal where you can choose the mileage and lease length parameters and lock in your trade-in value now allows the market to mature for the next 2-3 years, which is a lifetime in technology terms. Cars are increasingly technology on wheels, and that's not going to change any time soon. Imagine holding on to your phone without swapping it out for 6-8 years, much less 9-29...

Part of me wants this Mach-E but in the body of a Ford Focus wagon (rear drive-bias and all) but that gigantic screen needs to go. Heck I'll even take a 1998 Focus interior, but I've heard many great things about how well the Mach-E drives. As for the battery and its range & power density, I'd be good with an even smaller battery for what I do if it can get the weight down, but for most people, and Americans who seem to really need that 500km of range, Ford needs to do a better job.

I own a 2018 Focus ST-3. Even when it tries to kill me with snap-throttle oversteer, I like the car a lot. it is small, crude, noisy, has over damped shocks that makes highway driving a jarring experience. That being said, it wins in the smiles-per-mile contest, and I do NOT see that with this Mach-E. As a side note, it is the most reliable car I have owned. The only issue in 83k miles was a very minor leak from the clutch system's slave cylinder. The rest has been oil, wiper blades, and tire changes. I even used it as a "moving truck". It was nothing short of amazing at how much you can stuff in the back of it. Anyway, another excellent review.

I really wish they would make a 4 door Mustang Rally car. The SHO I had was close but while it did say AWD, it's mainly FWD till it detects slipping. Not really "fun" to throw around.

great review but this isn't a 2025 model. I know you talked about it briefly but the title was a bit misleading IMO

Biggest mistake is ford not putting the new google system in this (same system in the nautilus). On the Google system in the Lincoln nautilus it’s all through the screen but it’s instant response no waiting, sync systems need to die 💀💀

I predict most of the comments are made before the 5-second mark of the video, and are solely focused about the name which was revealed half a decade ago. None of these comments will have been made by somebody who's actually driven one of these, and none will be appreciative of the hard work the SG team did diving into reviewing this rally package.

Still shit though
@markcoopers1930Ай бұрын
Could very well be. And the choice of name was silly. But I haven't driven one so I'm not going to claim the vehicle performs either way. And I've already spent enough time and energy being surprised and or vexed about the name, I'm not going to waste any more. I am impressed at least with what I'm seeing when it comes to the actual rally upgrades they did though. And it's not like Ford has a rally Escape ST or Rally Mustang. And the Focus has been gone for ages

When I hear the words Ford Mustang, there is no way in hell that I think of an EV. Not a change. Not today, tomorrow or ever.

This car seems awesome, and I'm a big Ford fanboy, but after seeing the Ioniq 5 N's fake noise and shifts no other EV can compare. I hope Ford can get a big pack of nerds together to reproduce Hyundai's master stroke and quickly, but as it stands now the Ioniq N is a more engaging, fun car... Even at twice the monthly lease price.
@atmartensАй бұрын
I think it’s a cool trim, but nothing until a new generation will fix the major issues. It’s worth its value as MSRP, but worth maybe doing a lease. I can’t stand the main center screen personally. I also wish Ford called it a Thunderbird and not a Mustang.

I wouldn't buy any Ford vehicle all right. I made the mistake and purchased my Ford. I didn't know to lease. By purchasing my vehicle my truck that has less than 10,000 mi on it now lost over $30,000 in depreciation as soon as I took it off the lot. So if you do get electric vehicle lease it first! And really look to buy a used one. Otherwise just stick with regular ice vehicles. They don't lose that much We should be illegal what is going on but it's not.

Don’t listen to them and drive one and experience it for yourself. They’re gonna tell you 10 reasons why your favorite cheese pizza tastes so bad after you been eating it for 3 years. But obviously you should never base a major purchase decision on a KZbin video.

Those are not all-terrain tires; they are all-weather tires, the best on the market. They are best for snow and great for mileage, with minimal cabin noise.

well...eh, subjective. In my books the Polestar 2 looks pretty good and classy & the Ioniq 5 is one of the most interesting looking EVs. The EV6 and Ioniq6 are good looking too, as is the refreshed Tesla Model 3, but the Mach-E to me is a babyboomer mobile. It's one of the ugliest, but that's just me of course.
