The Jaguar that set the Nurburgring record was a version with roll-cages and rear sats deleted - Track Pack. This one is Touring version, probably makes a difference... Edit: So apperantly this is isn't Touring version, because it has all the aero bits you can get it with.

It had a floating cage which adds no chassis rigidity but saves the driver in the event of a crash. The cage added weight and the seats reduced it so the recipe was more or less the same.

Mate it’s 7 tenths of a second, in one lap. 7 tenths, that is a huge gap! In two laps the merc is 1.4s ahead. 1 tenth is maybe the driver messed up on a lap. But 7 tenths quicker is no mistake.

A lot of variables there, so 4s round a 14mile track could be down to driver error on some corners. This test is the same driver, same conditions and provides a more accurate representation of the performance difference.

If the Jag is slower, these guys didn't need to run the two to get the AMG with just 6 tens on a whole circuit. The official figures fir both cars on the Nurbrunging circuit show that the XE is the fastest sedan in the world. End of story

It seems you have very limited car knowledge, if the only track you care about is the ring then you are by no means a real car person. The ring is a testing track but not a circuit for understanding which car is technically superior. F1 is the epitome of motor sports, I guess none of Mercedes, Ferrari, or Mclaren’s championships count because they don’t race on the ring. Lol get a clue. Your understanding of motor sports is very limited.

You must not forget the amg is also 4 wheel steering. The rear turns opposite the front wheels at low speeds for increased radius and turns with the front wheels at higher speeds for increase speed and traction in turns.

Luckily I got 30k off when I ordered it.. sheesh..

You really can't be able to tell with driving like this because the breaking system and the steering system would definitely affect the outcomes. Do the straight line or the drag race instead. I get it though that the Mec won because it has higher hp and high torque and in a drag race, it would definitely win even bigger!!!!

It's called best driver's car. In cars like these, in drag racing you're not driving. You're reacting and then just there for the ride. Driving implies corners, left and right, and braking. That's why you test the quality of a chassis tune on a race track.

Why do I get the feeling motor trend really doesn't like the AMG for some reason? Runs a better lap time, set track record. Focus on the Jag and pull it to the front like it won. Also worth noting that the Jag at the nurburging was modified and had it's rear seats removed to save weight. So it was a two seater rather than a four seater. GT63S has the record for 4 door 4 seater.

The jack holds a record for four seater on the Nurburgring but it didn’t have back seats and it was speced to race but the Mercedes holds the records for the fastest four SEATER on the Nurburgring it’s quick and can hold 4 people
