Fastest Production Sedan in The World? Jaguar XE SV Project 8 at Laguna Seca

Jaguar tasked the engineers within the Special Vehicle Operations division to take their compact sports sedan, the XE, and put their biggest supercharged V8 in it. Sure enough, the fastest production sedan in the world was born. Since the Project 8’s record-setting performance at the Nürburgring, engineers have made improvements to vehicle dynamics and handling. They claim the Project 8 is faster and more agile than ever before.
On August 18, 2018 Jaguar partnered with Motor Trend to try and break the production sedan lap record at Laguna Seca Raceway. Can the Project 8 prove it's the fastest production sedan in the world?

I am a current owner of a Jaguar sports sedan (XF 5.0 SC) - sort of your target market - some thoughts: 1. This car seems awesome 2. Since the car is such a low production vehicle and so expensive it almost doesn’t count as a production sedan in my view - when you truly release a mass production car like the CTS-V, M3, C63AMG - or...a proper replacement for the XFR, then this becomes interesting 3. Why bother with this paid video partnership? You would have gotten the press anyhow 4. I know sedan sales are in decline but it seems Jaguar should have a mass production sports sedan available. I have not replaced my current car because all the Jaguar sedans now have the 6 cylinder SC as opposed to the V8 SC - except the land barge XJ

I agree I have A 2009 XF supercharged and it’s amazing. Still the best looking XF in my opinion. I want to upgrade but Jaguar took A few steps back. Now they only come in V6s and they don’t have A an R anymore which is frustrating. Not to mention the new Jags don’t look that appealing and are extremely overpriced. They’re competitors are way better.

But the Jaguar has rarity on its side and will almost certainly appreciate in value. The Jaguar is also more of a race car, it has race spec suspension and brakes. It's going quicker than the Cadillac with over 100bhp less. Tune the Jag to 700bhp and it'll probably be two seconds faster.

The M5 competition having been released months after the E63 would definitely be slightly faster on a straight line. Competing manufacturers do not release slower cars to go against what their competitors offer. But vehicle dynamics and fun from the engine is what might separate the wheat from the chaff, and most motor analysts agree that the AMG products are much fun than their newer competitions.

Yes you clearly have no idea how time attacks work, F1 famously said it's millions of dollars to make their cars a few hundredths of a second faster a lap. Once you reach a the top, anything beyond it is harder than ever look at world land speed records, you start reaching the limits of technology, and the money they put into R&D to make that jag that fast, they probably make no money off each sold

Cry me a river this is a production car. My Giulia Quadrifoglio with the ECU programming produces overr 600 BHP and 700 Nm of torque, beats anything in real life conditions of the nearest competition for a fraction of the money. And it’s hands down beautiful.
