@@daviddaniel387 hate 2 break the news but if they built one today it would be just as bad or worse than the other GM clunkers 😂 Btw this 95 was and is quite the clunker to be sure 👍

Yes, it was great which why the Eldorado lasted until 2002. The Northstar V8 produced for nearly 20 years and four different varients.

The Northstar is a symbol of what was wrong with GM. The engineers told them what the potential problem was before it went into production. But they released it anyway because they were too far along to switch without additional costs. Besides , the problems wouldn't pop up until the warranty expired and it was on to the second owner. Yes, they did eventually fix the problem in later models. But by then anything with a connection to Northstar was considered cursed. Similar to the rust problems in the older Blazers. Side panels, especially around the rear windows, were notorious for rusting out in a few years. GM knew about it problem. They knew how to fix it, and could have done so at any point before. But waited until the redesign around 1989 to do anything.

@@christopherconard2831Same thing with the Chevy Cobalt/Pontiac G5,the first ones had a defect with the timing chain tensioner but it made it to the 50K warranty so they didn’t recall it. Just past 50K the chain would skip and the pistons would hit the valves. Goodbye motor. That was the last GM car I bought or ever will buy.

Man these things are great looking cars. Unfortunately they're saddled with the unreliable Northstar and front wheel drive. If anything deserves an LS swap and a conversation to rear wheel drive it's this shape. Clean, simple, elegant. The car has pretty serious presence on the road. It's nothing like the design abortions the industry has been churning out over the last ten years or so where it looks like a geometry book threw up all over the car. All those lines, angles, squares, rectangles and triangles make the design look manic, and not in any good way. Oh and please stop with all the black plastic, especially when it's shaped to look like a vent but it doesn't vent anything. TLDR of the above- it's fwd and has an unreliable V8 but damn if it ain't a beautiful sight.

I have a 99 ETC myself plus many other Cadillac's. It has been a wonderful car and yes, they have such a great presence on the highway wherever being driven. When they are properly maintained, they are excellent and don't take much. The problem with unreliability is with any car or engine. I know two people that have an LS V8, one in a Corvette and another in a Silverado that have both been unreliable for them. But with the proper know how and understanding, anything can be fixed. Both the LS and the Northstar V8 are fantastic.

These had a governor at 115, I had a 96, the fuel cutoff would kick in at that speed it sucked because that car could do the whole 140 that the speedo advertised I'm sure, G.M. really robbed me of a good time on that one, I can go faster in my 99 accord with a measly 2.4 l four cylinder.
