one of the finest piece of machinery in history, i love the GTR
@Car_Tism13 жыл бұрын
This car is not only legendary and iconic, it's super in every way. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, 530 horsepower, all at $90K AND still achieves a mpg rating of 16 city, 23 highway? No matter what the haters say, no other stock car on this planet can get anywhere close to all those numbers at once.

this car has 2 turbos. when the temperature is hot, warm air moves into the engine which results in significant reduction in horsepower. turbocharged cars may lose up to 70 or 80 hp because of high humidity
@highflyer413 жыл бұрын
Ok everyone the reason they got these numbers is simply due to the fact it was a 90 degree day. Really hot + turbo dont mix. Also you got to remember that times also depend on the elevation they are testing at. A track and sea level and a track at 4000 feet with the same driver and car can give over 1 sec difference in a 1/4 mile.

@tom11zz884 I don't think MW is lying, the temps for the day they tested the car was 95 degrees. If you have driven cars during the summer time and during the winter/fall you can feel the car making more power due to the cooler or colder weather. I recently saw a review of the porsche 911 gt2rs and the car was tested in cali while it was almost 100 degrees out the car ran like shit, but they later tested the car at night in the cooler weather and the car ran like the beast it is.

Why all the complaining about the zero to 60 time. They tell you right in the video that it was 95 degrees the day of the test. That will slow down any car. This car is awesome.
@BangnKlang12 жыл бұрын
@tiagoko1 Yeah I agree with you on the tires. But it was my understanding that hotter temperatures ( say 85+ degrees) could lower the output of horsepower due to the gas evaporating before it has time to reach full combustion in turn reducing output. But at cooler temperatures (say around 65-75 degrees) the gas can reach full combustion giving you more HP output.

@bronxboyXXX wrong there is a big difference between awd and rwd and the back seat is very usefull anyways the vette can put those 1.13 g thanks to the stickiest michelin they have now without those tires the vette is very bad . the gt-r cam put same lap times without the stickiest michelin now put those in the gt-r and you will see remember this are street cars not race cars in the rain or snow the awd always wins even on dry. the vette is very expensive considering the oudated transmission.

Actually I have, read in the nissan owners manual( a neuro surgeon mentor of mine has the car) and it clearly states it. Nissan even has a way of checking the car at service intervals to see how many times launch control has been used. It is a nice sport touring car, but it is flawed.

@bronxboyXXX Sorry not really. The A6 is lightyears behind the GR6 trans in the GT-R. Any car with a turbocharger can be made as fast as the pockets are deep. Nothing out of the ordinary out of a vaccum cleaner engine. Even Porsche itself admits, it's quickest turbocharger AWD car in its line up (Turbo S with 1/4 mile 10.5 seconds) is by and large not it's best 911. That honor goes to the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 and that is followed by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Both of them are slower than the Turbo S in a straight line. Yet, more expensive and more race oriented.
@tmat0412 жыл бұрын
What kind of driver is this guy? The car does 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds. I could understand if the results of this test was just slightly off. Nissan should never allow Motor Week to test drive their cars again.

A turbo S in all tests destroys this thing in a straight line like it was on a standstill. 1/4 mile in only 10.6 seconds. I agree, the best Porsche 911s, which are GT3 RS 4,0 and GT2 RS are slower and more expensive than the Turbo S, but according to Porsche they are so much more than 0-60 mph numbers and truly embody the racing heritage of Porsche. Any true enthusiast will pick the GT3 RS 4.0 over the Turbo S.
