Was like a perfect storm of negativity. It wasn't beautiful. And it's not simple. And it wasn't very cheap. That negativity does snowball pretty fast in the internet age. But it's still hard to account for their lackluster sales. Because like they're selling basically none. I mean it's essentially the worst selling vehicle that has stayed in production in the history of all cars. 2018 they sold 170 cars. That's unfathomable. Even at Supercar volume it should sell 10 times that amount to be considered a mild success.
@aaa84gt5 жыл бұрын
@@CalvinHikes It wasn't supposed to be simple or cheap. People think the original was a simple car but it wasn't either; aluminium chassis and itanium connecting rods were ultra high tech back then - the NSX is New Sportscar Xperimental, it's always supposed to showcase the future of supercars. Beauty is objective, I think it looks killer in black. Regarding price people expected it to be cheaper but I don't understand why it really should be cheaper than a comparable Porsche, Audi or even Aston Martin. It's a supercar in every sense of the word. Unfortunately people just look at numbers for Japanese and American cars. Tons of kids who don't see the point of an LFA when the GT-R delivers same performance for 1/7th the price... Oh well.

@Burns me up. Yeah I never get that. Same with the Mercedes McLaren SLR; entire car is CF but the center console had to have plastic. Ruins everything. If I pay $150.000 for a car I want to have a quality experience anywhere I touch. It still pisses me off that many so called auto journalists crapped all over this car when it was first released. The 2nd gen NSX is objectively an amazing supercar car, but thanks to a glut of brainless fanboy group think and the prevailing assumption within that group that everything old must be better, the NSX just didn't get a fair shake initially. But over time it has managed to garner the respect it always deserved.

@le m I'm not talking about the major auto mags. I'm talking about the 100s of independent auto reviewers online. These reviewers have as much of not more influence than major mags like Car & Driver or Road & Track these days. I recall watching endless reviews where people were complaining about the NSX being sterile and not fun to drive. This was the predominate view. However, over time (as is often the case) people come to their senses and reevaluate things. So now the NSX is more appropriately respected across the board.

@@houseofno I disagree. Those things can certainly spark differing *opinions*, but not any sort of objective conclusion. Of course the price went up because it's now a much more advanced and capable supercar. I get that some people just can't handle any sort of change, but technology marches on. I miss old-school car review shows like MotorWeek where the commentators stick to objective analysis of the vehicle's performance and such and don't interject much of their own opinion. Opinions are fine, I have plenty of them, but if that's what you're offering, don't call it a "review".

still don't understand the hate for this car. NSX literally meant to challenge current day technology in a new, affordable way, unlike old fans keeps on screaming this car isn't true to NSX heritage. I really don't think they understand what NSX namesake stood for. Back then, the car was meant to challenge Ferrari that supercars can be daily driven, in terms of drivability and reliability wise. Nowadays, the trend is heading towards hybrid technology where the car can achieve new heights. Aside from infotainment, which is abhorrent for its price tag, this car is bargain Porsche 918. They'll post these artificial times with no factual evidence. MotorWeek on the other hand gets it right. All of the vehicles they road test must be stock. @@conradsealy9603 Dumb statement considering the original supra was nothing but a sports car that never sold well. Tuning it got to to be great. Get a clue about cars. The new Supra is a testament to two engineering giants getting together, looking past their differences and producing a machine that harnesses the best of both worlds. The fact that you ignore how incredible that team is the actual joke. Is the McLaren F1 a BMW too considering it does indeed use a BMW V12?

@@conradsealy9603 Are you high? The fact that you even said that shows how uneducated you are on the topic. There's a reason why Toyota is the largest automotive manufacturer in the world. On top of that Both BMW and Toyota have had incredible wins in the world of F1. Nissan has never come close to participating in the pinnacle of engineering excellence. You really shouldn't even compare. They're great cars. But are in a completely different category in approach to performance. Get a clue. Also you didn't answer my question. Was the Mclaren F1 a BMW because it had a BMW V12? Manufacturers work together. That's how this industry works.

@@traviszack3 to make a cheaper entry level trim, something that purists can afford which is what I think the NSX's real market wants. Also the weight decrease from not having batteries and electric motors up front would somewhat offset the loss in power, at least in corners. I feel like a price point closer to a 911 GTS (which starts at 120k) would help bring the sales up
@campkira5 жыл бұрын
Why would they do that? Hybrid is the way they can rip off the customer. You want it out do it yourselves. NSX is a flagship of Honda is it away overprice.. Just wait for type R or get it used......
@Boss11865 жыл бұрын
@@campkira I get it but Im saying just add an entry trim level which is 2wd. The NSX is way too pricey imo, it doesnt have the racing pedigree of a Ford GT, and in people's mind "it's just a fancy Honda". It needs good press, from the reviews Ive seen it's decent, but not outstanding in any way...
@Boss11865 жыл бұрын
@le m Okay but nobody watches this. Maybe pedigree wasnt the right term to use but I meant the GT has ancestry, which the NSX doesn't really have compared to the GT. It may have won a lot of races, but races nobody that could potentially buy the new NSX heard about. It's also probably a little too far off its original concept, but the GT isn't.

Honestly, in real world driving except for an interstate on-ramp, where are you going to explore 0-60 times? As for BMW, considering maintenance costs and depreciation, Acura (Honda) is a much better choice all across the board.
