Fantastic presentation once again, BTW I been riding 2010 BMW like yours for 3years, I was forced into a situation, this weekend where I had to dab my way out of a horrible rut, it came naturally, I instinctively put my foot down to stop the bike from falling over and it worked, your videos really help at times, and I hope you read this comment, from South Africa.

Great review!!! I own these glasses and he hit on every single thing I love about them. They fit great with my helmet and I even forget I’m wearing them most of the time. No wind getting around them and there is no vision warping. It’s a snap to change out lenses and the quality is top shelf. I’ve had these for a few years now and haven’t had any problems. Well worth every penny.

I’ve spent just as much on sunglasses as I have on gloves in the 15+ years I’ve been riding. Although I can appreciate the Arclight features, $140+ for something I’m guaranteed to pull out of my tank bag and drop or rest on my tank, seat, jacket pocket and watch them slip off...I’m reluctant. Now one can argue, “Well take better care of your stuff..?”, I have an irresponsible amount (both dollar amount and quantity) of high end sunglasses and take very good care of them, so it’s not due to lack of trying. Long story short...For years now I rock 3M Virtua Safety glasses. Thin, ultralight weight, frameless, slip on perfectly with helmet on, UV/B protection, and ANZI/CSA rated...come in Clear and Smoked. Best of all...$3 brand new at your local Hardware store. Yes. $3. I keep a pair of clear and smoked in my tank bag...they’re fairly scratch resistant, so no need for a sunglasses pouch or box. I’m a Weld Supervisor and take eye protection very seriously...if they work in my industry, they’ll work on the ride home. Ride on!

I have both the 3M and the arclites. The 3Ms are fine, but don't have the same coverage, visibility and aren't as comfortable as my arclites. What that translates to is better protection, eyes that keep their moisture, and better comfort, esp with a helmet. They also don't fog up as easily, despite having better coverage. I don't know the specifics of the impact resistance between the two, but arclites supposedly are military grade and actually used in the military. I haven't had to use the arclite warranty, but it sounds like if you break them, they'll send you a new pair. I use the 3Ms when I don't need the extra protection/coverage/fog resistance and my arclites the rest of the time. I love having both in my quiver.

Cool for me to see Bret recommending these. As a fan of Bret's channel, and also a recent customer of ArcLite, I'll independently confirm that these glasses are awesome... so much better than what I was using. Lighter, thinner, stronger. Packaging was cool too if you care about "out-of-box" experiences (not my thing). I also had some follow-up with ArcLite's customer service after the sale and they were very responsive and very helpful. If you buy a pair and get additional lenses, I would recommend also buying extra nose pieces and just keeping them pre-installed on each lens. The frames are easy to swap out. The nose pieces are swappable too, but a little more difficult (for me at least). It was just easier for each of the lenses to have its own.

I think it's useful to know that these are your favorite option, and I don't think there's anything bad about promoting a product you use and believe in, but I would like to hear about them in the context of a larger discussion of eye protection. How do you feel about flip down sun shades? What would you wear if you wore glasses? I think that larger discussion would be more useful to your audience, while still promoting what you think is the best choice.

I am here in Utah and am a longtime dirtbike / adventure bike rider, and am also a shooter and own two sets of Arclite. They are local here so I know the founder and have owned both the Gen 1 (which were good but not magnificent). And now am exclusively on these gen 2 (Ethos VLD model) that are ***magnificent.*** The glasses are hands down, 100%, the best sunglasses I have ever owned. I swear to god. For example I was floored that they aren't polarized because they are **so** fu**King clear. For real authenticity, I've been riding moto for 10 years and got my endorsement on a 950 Adventure. Today own a Husq 500 and a 950 Super enduro and mostly ride open desert after about a 1/2 dozen bikes, mostly KTM, and one Honda XR650R (the big red pig). For shooting I shoot PRS style with a Savage action, Proof barrel, on a XLR Element chassis in 6.5 Creedmoor, and a build Aero AR 308 platform in 308. Plus many many more of course. Just because there so many people saying "BS" I thought I'd offer these specifcs. Just saying, wait until you try them. They are worth every cent.

I’ve picked up a set based on this recommendation and I’m glad I did. For me the first indicator of great gear is forgetting about it while it’s doing its job. These go transparent while they’re protective, comfortable, and optically perfect. After detaching a retina from an impact I’m grateful to have these - more than sunglasses, certainly. And they’re based here in Utah in Park City.

@arcliteoptics35665 жыл бұрын
We understand and appreciate that concern! However, Arclite's are definitely not normal sunglasses! Our earpieces, with flexible conformable technology, have multiple US Patents. They're constructed from titanium alloy and high performance polymers. Arclite's exceed the US Military standards for combat protective eyewear. Our interchangeable lenses have technology, performance and features that are very rare to find all in one product. Some of these features are: permanent anti-fog interior coatings, anti-scratch/chemical resistant/hydrophobic exterior coatings, photochromics, high color contrast, ballistic impact protection and exceptionally high optical quality. Also consider the very extensive field of view and level of protection. Our eyewear products are our own 100% ground up designs! They are designed, molded, sewn, assembled and packaged here in the US. Normal sunglasses do not meet these claims!

I don’t get why people get so disappointed or even offended when a channel endorses a product that they believe in. Channels like this are not cheap to operate and there’s no way a guy like Brett would endorse garbage. So he gets a little out of it...big deal. If it helps pay the bills enabling more content, and at higher quality, then why not? No one is forcing you to watch it. No one is forcing you to buy the products. Lighten up.

In the previous video you mention being sponsored by ArcLite. I am intrigued by all the features and they seem like a quality product at a premium price point (apex predator in Revzilla terms). I certainly value the “how to” videos much more. I place Mototrek in the top of my video channel choices along with Fortnine and relish the notification of a new upload. My criticism regarding this video is that while previously Bret seemed disassociated and even specified non attachment to brands while reviewing them, I see a break from that independence. I do, however, respect the ability to create personal gain for Bret’s effort in developing this channel.
@BretTkacs5 жыл бұрын
It's the first paid sponsor we've accepted. I won't endorse anything I don't use or wouldn't endorse anyways. I have never made a penny from a Mototrek video. I'd they offer to sponsor so I can make a few more then I'm in. It turns out tryinh to make a living makes it hard to produce regular MT videos. This winter looks like it will be light for MT while I'm earning a living.

Bret Tkacs, thank you for replying to my comment. I certainly value your content and product reviews to the point that I have made several major purchases based on them (sand 3 suit, Leatt neck brace, Mitas E07 tires soon). I even hand made a set of soft luggage fashioned after the Moskimoto brand you made me aware of. Your content regarding how to handle my bike is second to none. The content is so good, I’m seriously considering shipping my bike from the east coast just to take your class. It is unfortunate that this channel does not provide enough income to make it a central focus. For individuals such as myself without a lot of extra income, KZbin is a major library affording greater education that is not as consumable in written form. I hope that changes for you as a teacher and us as students.

"mask measurement" is the Elephant in the Room and is ignored by nearly everyone in the Eyeglasses Industry. What is Mask Measurement? It is the Distance across the front of a person's face. Try this technique using anything flat and stiff (small pieces of plywood are ideal) along with a friend holding a ruler or tape measure: place the plywood on each side of your head pressing gently against your temples without moving then Hold Still as your friend measures the distance the insides of the plywood across your face. That is the Mask Measurement. Now convert inches to millimeters and tall the highfalutin, uppity, disbelieving folks at Optics Is Us With 700 PerCent Mark-up to provide A Frame That Fits Your Face !!!
