I haven't been able to change gears on a bike for 17 years due to old military injury that required fusion surgery. Been riding a Piaggio MP3 for about 6 years now. It's about time to trade up. Going to look at one this weekend.

saw this bike at the dealership and I like it, I am brand new to the cycle world and this seems perfect for me, its low so I can place both feet on the ground, auto transmission which is great! has lots of space for stuff, great mpg, and it looks unique, not a cruiser or a touring bike but still has a great look to it, I want this bike!

The engine is exactly half of a Honda echo engine. They took the 4 cylinder echo engine and chopped it in half and developed it for the motorcycles. The best thing about the power plant? 64 mpg rating from the EPA. I've heard of people getting 74 mpg from the NCX with the same engine. The cruiser version with the naked look is sexier, but I imagine on the highway the touring version with the fairing would be better because it would reduce wind buffeting on the rider.

For those criticizing this bike for no apparent reason other than it's viewed as a threat, don't worry. Your extreme, old-tech, gas-guzzling bike and one's like it are still safe. This bike and the previously-released NC700X/S and Integra are the first ones to take advantage of the last fifty years of internal combustion engine technologies. You know, the kind of technologies that allow auto engineers to build a car that gets 40 mpg, which equals the mpg of most bikes at 1/8 of the curb weight.

Don't get me wrong, I used to ride sport bikes, ZX7, CBR1000, VFR800, and to a lesser extent a FJ1200, and a converted WR450F street motard. I just got to old with to many motocross injuries to keep using impractical uncomfortable bikes. My new bike is the NC700X. It may be slow and heavy, but it fits me well and handles fine for what it is. I have been riding 33 years and remember when a KZ900 was state of the art, most new bikes are immeasurably better then just 20 years ago.

Looks almost like a scooter too. Not that it's a bad thing. I think it's good that they are starting to have more bikes with auto transmissions. I know bike purists hate it but then they don't have to buy one do they? For people that don't want to shift manually all the time it's great. For me it's like it is with cars. I love to shift in a sports car when I'm blasting around having fun, but when I'm on a trip in a sedan I just want to put it in drive and cruise.

Hello and thank you for the review. I'm new to motorcycle driving and am doing a bit of research, especially on automatic bikes. In the video you said this bike is "built for short touring...". May I ask what 'short touring' would be considered? I am contemplating this model, and have a daily 130 mile commute (65 each way). I would, perhaps due to weather, use the bike to commute during half of the year. Appreciate any insight you can offer. Thx!

Fuck what the nay Sayers are saying about it I have had mine for two weeks and I fucking love it especially paddle shifting I have owned way more powerful bikes but if you can get a bike that does all this bike does then why not I mean you won't win any races but it does the legal speed limit and more and it shifts extremely fast overall I am more than pleased with it and plan on logging many many miles on it now I will do some simple mode to it to make it my own maybe some dual exhaust

As an owner of a BMW c600 I would like to see how this machine compares. It certainly has the curb appeal of a proper motorcycle but it lacks the everyday storage that a larger scooter offers. Automatic trans are the new wave of the future, there's no denying that paddle shifting being offered in cars will eventually make their way to bikes. What I'm curious about is this...Is it more efficient than a CVT?

Stating the bike is fugly or not sporty enough or not masculine enough are not real reasons for dissing this bike. Some real critiques: Fuel tank is too small for a touring bike; It's chain driven, which is a little bit of a hassle for a bike that is meant for the next generation of riders who will not like this hassle. And it will only work for smaller riders, but that's why they've come out with this bike. The shorter folks don't all fit the NC700X.

Simple Times: Yes it's nice, but get the manual transmission, it's more fun and involved. If you get auto and then in the future you decide to switch to another bike which has manual, you will find it very difficult to learn manual transmission. Best of luck and remember to ride safe.

If you're one of the persons who reads articles about these new, innovative Honda bikes; and subsequently something about makes you mad about it; and then you express this anger by telling the rest of us how much you hate it, but can't say why; then you tell me what the threat is. But if you're not one of these persons, then my post wasn't meant for you. And yes this bike is a threat to scooters. Many former scooter owners are getting this bike, because now one makes more sense than a scooter.

It's neat to have that sort of tech on a motorcycle, with dual clutch, automatic or paddle shift, but please don't over do it. I think it is a waste to have those things in sports cars, and nowadays is mostly what cars have. They've taken away the cars, don't take away the bikes too.

Clutchless bikes are a great idea for commuters and those looking to step up from a scooter. Honda seems to have hit the right marks with this bike. The main fault I have with it is it's styling. It's typical anime looking Honda, blah. Although I would consider buying this bike for certain reasons one of them sure as hell would be for looks.

I just got one of these in the manual version. It's heavy, has touchy brakes and a touchy throttle. Tires can lock up in a panic. The bike lunges at high and low RPM's. It takes skill to ride a bike like this and is unforgiving to mistakes. It is not for beginners. It is not a scooter or anything like a scooter. If you want a beginner bike and you're serious about learning enjoyably and safely, get a 250-300cc class.
@motoryzen
@motoryzen 5 жыл бұрын
500 pounds is heavy? I figured most would say that about a goldwing or CTX1300, understandably, but I didn't figure an experience biker would call a 500 pound motorcycle heavy. *scratches his facial peach fuzzy curiously*. No bs meant to ya, just asking.
@AddyAdderson
@AddyAdderson 5 жыл бұрын
No BS taken. I'm talking from the point of view of beginners who may see this video. If you've experienced how heavy a Goldwing or a Super Glide is, you're not a beginner. That's all I'm saying. A CB250 for example, is in the mid 300 lb. range, and isn't likely to penalize a beginner's mistakes with a disaster. The CTX700, by comparison, is a bit like a bull with very sensitive controls that would be unforgiving to whiskey throttle, grabbing the front brake, locking the back, dropping the clutch into revs, etc. Yes, I know there many bikes that are bigger, more powerful, faster, more macho, and less forgiving, but none of that makes the manual CTX a beginners bike.

@AddyAdderson
@AddyAdderson 2 жыл бұрын
@@ryanrogers8211 I'm 200, and any of the japanese 300 class bikes would get me down the freeway. If I weighed 250, I would look carefully at Honda's 500cc bikes; three styles to choose from. They've become very popular and are easy to re-sell if or when you ever want to move up. Also, Kawasaki's 400 is a great bike if you like a sport bike style.

I have a 1975 Suzuki GT380 and a 2007 BMW F800S. I ride the F800 every day. SMs are fantastically fun, until the cold wind and rain start hitting you on a frigid January day. Locking the brakes up isn't always bad -- just ask a dirt biker or... a SM rider or any experienced rider for that matter. However, approximately 30% of braking effieciency is lost when the tires start sliding. And yes, if I were President, everyone would ride a 1985 Yamaha RZ 500.

So, can infer from your response that your opinion is that everyone should ride a CBR1000RR or the like? If that is your rational, you should be riding a street supermoto bike. . Half the weight of a sport bike, but much like a sport bike, completely impractical. Also, even a bike with crap brakes can lock up both wheels quite easily "one time". Sport bikes only have large brakes for the repeated braking required of closed course track racing.

Starting from ground zero with every new generation? so no cultural, historical references or emotional, psychological baggage exists? Zero preconceived notions so that permutations can accelerate, allowing us to feed on our need for novelty while believing that the solution to our flawed natures is somewhere in front of us? Giving us license to rush ahead to chase that temporary sense of liberation and release gained through acceleration and a preset destination? This seems like pure folly based on erroneous insight if you ask me. Sorry to say, Especially when there is nothing new under the sun. Only re-arrangements and re-compositions, but does this always depend on decomposition first?

Adam sure does not know what he is talking about, and by scraping the exhaust like he did with the 1300, I seriously doubt this guy knows anything about how to ride a motorcycle. The real designer of this bike, and not some person claiming that he knows a lot about this bike can tell you more. Do a search on youtube for "2014 new Honda CTX1300 CTX700 Designing the CTX Concept" video. That guy is one of the designers of this bike and the 1300, and I would not take anything that Adam says to heart, because he does not know what he is talking about in my opinion.

@renegadebiker24
@renegadebiker24 8 жыл бұрын
Russ Dubble U Well, it seems that the designer knows more about the CTX 1300 motorcycle than Most of the "reviewers" like Adam Waheed will ever know. The reviewers of both the 1300 and the CTX 700 are so off base, that none of their reviews make any sense whatsoever, and neither does their riding ability. What you think about the designer "mouthing the Honda marketing line" is really not the way Honda had marketed the 1300 but somehow tied it to evolution, and that was the "Honda marketing line" at the time, and not how the designer had talked about it. Anyways, it is a good bike, but it was taken off the market after one year, and the rebates dropped it down even more. So when I first got the bike, it was priced for about $19,000, and now someone can get it for about $11,750 for the same CTX 1300 Deluxe motorcycle that I have.
