I bought the shop manual before I even took delivery of the bike. Cost $35 here in the States, Worth every penny. Just did the valve clearances-would have been impossible without it

The manual is absolutly worth it - I found it quite helpful too even though I haven't dared to touch the valves yet ;-)

Thanks for that guys! I have a 2023 and hope to never need to do this. But, it definitely helps me with other maintenance processes that I might need. I got me a digital manual as well for the iPad after seeing yours was very comprehensive. Nice job! Can’t wait to see it go back in. That’ll be fun…………not.

Nice Video. So next to your Super Adventure R with motor damage now your Super Adventure S also has servir engine damage. I really like these bikes and was looking for it as a replacement for my own bike, but sorry KTM I read to much quality issues, also in current models.
@MotoVibes6 ай бұрын
On this engine Stephan thinks the damage was due to a bad service when the bike still had low milage but we will know the exact reason soon

And from my side - it’s the first of over 13 KTM 1190/1290 with such a problem - the dealer overfilled the oil by 600ml when new and my longterm wise I think it damaged the oil pump

Hello thanks for the interesting and informative video. Out of curiosity, was the cost of a new engine verses a complete rebuild considered as a viable option?
@MotoVibes5 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. I don’t really know how much this particular engine cost - my guess is somewhere in the range of 6000-8000 Euros which makes a full rebuild a very viable option

Talking about the side stand reallocation kit. I did mine, one main reason. A guy just skidded on tarmac and side stand caught an imperfection in the road. Cracked the engine. Game over. I would do it if I were u. Please do

I cannot stress out enough the benefits of having the manual in digital form. Search function, going back and forth between the different steps, zooming in on pictures to see precisely what's what. And also, a tablet/keyboard can be wiped off while paper will just stain. And while I'm not a very big fan of advanced tech, having in the future some "AI" (or neural network to be more precise ) to help with the repair in combination with a proper set of AR glasses would allow anybdy to fix their bikes/cars. But I guess that'll make us a bit dumber :))

That is all true but KTM makes damn excting bike - Just had a KTM 890 Adventeure R for 2 days for an advanced off-road training. It is a riot to ride this bike - I also had a quick run on a T700 - also a nice bike especially the engine was great off-road but I liked the ergonomics of the KTM much better. The T700 suspension was better than I thought it would be but the XPLOR suspension by KTM is in an entirely different league
