The Great Curly Top, Mr Ian Hunter, a class act and still going strong at over 80, with a new album coming out. Regarding Mick and Ariel they both had a great run with Mott. Mick contributed more to the song writing but Ariel was more animated on stage. Let’s just appreciate both of them. A great band and a wonderful frontman.

I never got to see the ‘73 Mott, but I did manage to see them on the ‘74 tour….and I’d probably agree. Mick is an overall better player….period. That being said, it was still a thrill to see them….and Ariel looked every bit the glam star! It’s a travesty that Mott hasn’t even been considered for the Rock Hall…..shame on them.
@swankmotee4 ай бұрын
Aerial “Old Fart” Bender should’ve cooled his jets since his solos were pedestrian at best and had nothing of the flair of his past. The solo in R.I.P. was ruined by the overuse of the whammy bar! The extended arm in the air was lame but Ian and the rest of the guys were great!
@TheDominos19 ай бұрын
Ariel's Guitar thankfully is not plugged into an Amplifier. If you are even a beginner Guitar Player and watch him carefully you can observe him just pretending to play. He's like the Johnny Depp of Mott the Hoople. Lol

Like The Faces Motts looseness and inter band dynamics were all part of the package. Neither Ralphs or Bender is a very good guitarist but they both had what Mott needed. The Hoople was a weak album compared to ATYD and Mott. Some great tracks on Wildlife and other early albums. For a 78 year old it’s great but it’s essentially a tribute band.
