Silky’s story is sad when you realize the whole of it: a young, talented ballerina who got pregnant and was disowned by her family (which isn’t uncommon when having a child out of wedlock), thus forcing her to take loans from Yakuza. She doesn’t resent her child for essentially turning her life upside down, she’s the opposite, and cherishes her in excess to the point where she UNDERPAYS THE YAKUZA in order to give her daughter a nice dress. That same yakuza raid her house, take her kid, and make her feel so helpless she JUMPS OFF A BUILDING to end her suffering. Only to forget her memories until Aira triggers her into remembering she was a mother. In the manga, it shows the daughter (still a kid) and the mom walking into Heaven. If I had to guess, the kid was probably euthanized and had her organs harvested. Child organs fetch hefty prices on the black market due to their rarity, and whatever debt Silky owed would’ve been covered in excess. In the end, a grieving mother and a grieving daughter come together for the closure they never got. Tragic, but this is what gives Aira perspective and makes her character grow. Massive respect to DANDADAN, that can be extremely funny and romantic, to entirely tragic. This is the anime of the year, without a doubt

She shorted their money a bit so she could buy her daughter a dress (this is a little clearer in the manga, where you can see her pull the money out of the envelope to get the dress, which we later see one of the men carrying when she is attacked,) hence the violence and kidnapping. The daughter's actual fate has been left pretty vague, but given the circumstances the two most likely outcomes are that she ended up being trafficked herself, or her organs were harvested and sold (answering your question above). pick the bad ending you can sleep better imagining for her.

The entire point of cpr is to push blood through the body before the the brain dies without oxygen. If the heart starts quivering again, then you can use a defibrillator to shock it back into pumping normally. Some doctors do this by cutting open a patient's chest and manhandling it like a child with playdough until the heart is so tired of it it starts quivering again just to get the doctor to stop. Fun stuff, really

School > insane fight > hangout With a mixture of horror, comedy, slice of life etc. Just that nothing got time to really breath, or they tackled SA with both Turbo Granny and the alien abduction, and then finding out that Turbo Granny tries to console SA victims. For sure it didn't want to be just a wacky fun show even then But it's all so fast that we mostly get the horror in episode 1, and a glimpse of sadness in episode 4. 5-8 is the 2nd arc into the third; but as it had time to breath we got our first real gut punch The next arc is just as evil, and in the manga I would currently count 4-5 more that are as hard, if not more depressing

Two things I’d like to note that I haven’t seen anyone mention about Silky is the fact that 1. She was selling her body and was beaten with the intention of murdering her bc she took extra money to buy that dress for her daughter 2. They shot her down in the street. To me that very clearly looked like she woke up from being knocked out, went outside to chase after them, saw the car, and was shot as she got nearer. I feel like this perspective makes it so much sadder. They left her to die and she still got up to chase them. She risked everything to care for her child and was left shot down in the street like a wild animal. Just makes it so much more heartbreaking bc so many women go through these situations just bc they have no resources or support. Some even shamed/disowned because of their child. No family, no partner, no real job/skill set, just you and your baby. & you gotta make it work for them. They did such a wonderful job with this episode.

i guess what people mean, when they say it gets mor "chill" after the first episode, is that only in that first one is there an actual attempted r*pe scene, now to be fair the traumatic experiences of regular and se*ual violence doesn't stop, but that in perticular starting the show off is probably a big reason why some would consider the rest, relatively speaking, tamer
