Have you wondered if it's worth it to visit Mount Rainier National Park in June before the peak season and everything is opened up? Our recommendation is YES!! The crowds are down and the waterfalls are roaring. Many of the trails are closed, but we still were able to find enough hikes and sights to fill our couple of days there. Another perk of coming when there is still snow on the ground--summer sledding! Our kids loved using trash bags to slide down the large mounds of leftover snow. It's not every day you can play in the snow in short sleeves and shorts. The majority of the park was lush, green and smelled amazing. This spontaneous trip was the perfect way to kick off our summer vacation.
