Nice work Phil! Good to see you back out on the trails. Having bought one, I wouldn't rush out and buy a 9. Nothing beats a gimbal for this style of filming
@trailtalkmtb66034 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Good to know. I think the hero 9 is a bit too big for the chinbar so chest mount would be the go, but then the audio wont be as go. KZbinr dilemmas! Might need a gimbal
@RideyRodney4 жыл бұрын
@@trailtalkmtb6603 I have the 8, but because the geniuses at GP thought it was a smart idea to make the lens non-removable, I need to use the roll cage. I don't mind using them on chin mount. The roll cage+GP 8 are about the same size and weight as the GP 9, so I don't think size/weight would be too much of an issue, but not sure. It definitely won't feel as nice as the 7 though.

How u find the stock Hans Dampf 2.6 tires?
@trailtalkmtb66034 жыл бұрын
I actually really dig the hans dampf. I think it's the perfect tread pattern for this bike. I'm reviewing the dissector atm so I wanted to go a familiar tyre upfront. I think a speed grip in the rear and soft upfront in the hans dampf would be perfect

Congratulations on your engagement! I would appreciate if you do review of Polygon 2020 N9. Also did you have a chance to ride Marin Rift Zone? If so, how does it compare to T8 in terms of climbing? I heard that RZ is not that efficient going uphill.
@trailtalkmtb66034 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! The T8 and riftzone are very similar. I feel like the T8 might have a bit more pep to it on the climbs but it's very marginal. Bear in mind that a lot of the reviews saying it's not a good climber are taking the tyres into consideration too.

Love the vids man, thinking on buying a T7 and putting s better fork on it, thoughts?
@trailtalkmtb66034 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good idea! The fork is the main upgrade to the T8. The shocks are very comparable and drivetrains are a consumable ag the end of the day. The marzocchi z2 would be the best value upgrade. You maybe be able to find a 34 or pike used too.

So, bit of a backwards inquiry from me. I currently ride a 2021 Norco Sight A1 29. Not surprisingly from all the media surrounding them, it is an incredible bike. It’s suitable for everything so far, but definitely feeling over-biked on certain trail systems. Short disclaimer, I made the correct decision, only overbiked on about 20% of rides. However, I am interested in getting a cheaper FS or hard tail that I’m less afraid to ride to the shops, and is suitable for the XC style trails that I *sometimes* like to ride. Thinking sub-2.5k AUD - I’ve seen the D & T series polygons recommended, and they are pretty appealing, as is the hawk hill & san quentin. Will something like this be too much of a backwards step after riding the Lyrik and Super deluxe of the Norco, or do you know a bike that might be a happy medium?
@trailtalkmtb66034 жыл бұрын
The Siskiu T, Trance X are a happy medium in my opinion. Coming from a lyrik you will notice the rockshox recon on cheaper bikes to be a bit of a let down. Not that they're bad for the price, just once you know good damping it's tough to go back. I think an all mountain bike and a dual sus downcountry bike is too much overlap. I'd go one trail bike or the sight and a hardtail like a marin San Quentin, Merida Big Trail, Ragley Big Wig etc
