I've just seen the thumbnail and this remembers me of something I did in the old Il-2. I wanted to have sloped runways with the ones you could place yourself, just by putting them onto a mountain. The result however was, that literally half of the runway sticked out of the mountain, perfectly flat, like a springboard on a swimming pool. Was lots of fun to just taxi off it and plummet down a few hundred feet and trying to catch the plane by pulling out of the dive just in time not to crash into the mountain. Who needs catapults or runways if you can have this instead? Just drop the plane down somewhere until it starts flying :D

He places it in the sea , finds the cords on where he wants to place it (using The map [F10] and then goes into the mission file and edits in in Notepad++, finding the carrier (name it something easy to find ) on the file and then change the coords of the asset to suit your needs

@@adamcherrison5843 good stuff, CAP actually has a video on this, been trying to copy his setup, but I must be missing something, shows up on F10 map on the mountain, but not is game. I'm thinking the altitude has to be tweaked? Maybe GR will post the mission file. Either way fun stuff.

I think you can place it if you add it as "static object" rather than "ship". At least this way it is possible to add a carrier to the lakes on the Nevada / Caucasus maps. If trying to add as "ship" the mission editor refuses since you have to place it at "sea" and not on a river / lake.

@@brandonr2188 the free edition includes multiple aircraft... There is tons to do with the SU-25T and P-51, explore those before you go buying other aircraft. Also take advantage of sales. 50 dollars may seem expensive outside looking in, but hundreds of man hours and years of development goes into each module and they are worth every penny.

@@brandonr2188 yea rudder control is pretty crucial but you got to start somewhere! Learn all the systems of the SU 25T, it's a great building block for other flaming cliffs modules or for a full module. Fly it's campaigns and missions, then move to online flying for that extra challenge. Learn the cold start, takeoff and landing on the 51, it will give you a great start at other modules.

Mountain Carrier Madness: Ship on a mountain! It's been done already... There was this guy Noah.... The only thing more ludicrous than putting a carrier on a mountain is 35 guys convinced they could land on it. I find it odd that so much advice from the gallery was given from people who couldn't possibly have any experience. Have I missed something in DCS? Is there a mountain carrier server with a secret password? My mother used to ask me: "If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump off too?" What if Gream Reapers rotated the aircraft 180 degrees, as seen in the "Jan 2020, Mountain Carrier Landing Skill Competition," with the catch wires on the carrie's high side? Consider landing on the carrier from the high side while also attempting to hook a catch wire on a downward slope.
