5:03 "If the brake is not properly adjusted to begin with, things can go downhill pretty quickly." Anybody else catch that epic pun?

This was good. I was taught in the early 90's to hold slight pressure in steep grades. Not the stab method, but it was implied on the road.

I have an old school Volvo with drum brakes, with Volvos Z cam. Such a big difference with the disc brakes that trucks are fitted with now days. My newest truck have the i shift, with crawler gears and hydraulic retarder. That brake have to be used smartly as so powerful it can wear down the drive tires really fast.

Castlegar is a wonderful place. I live in Abbotsford, it's also wonderful. Would never go back to the city!

We need training like this here in South America. I live in Chile (not a truck driver), but truckers run off the road and crash into things all the time here. Sometimes with fatal consequences. It seems like a lot of truck drivers here are not well-trained, or their equipment is not well-maintained, or both. But the crashes are so frequent it seems a lot of drivers just ride the service brakes and have no idea how to select a gear and speed before starting the descent, how to use the engine/exhaust brakes correctly either. Also, drivers really don't like going slow here, including the truckers, so they'll fly down the hills just as fast as the cars do, and hope the service brakes will work when they need them.

Stop lying, I watched you stick your feet through the hole in the floor and when that didn't work you pulled the parachute.

They talk as if there wasn't a point in time where trucks didn't have Jake brakes lol one of my trucks doesn't have a Jake brake, never had a problem on hills if you do it right
